Christina has been our waitress and she is attentive and helpful -ask for her!
Granted, we were there in the October high season, but the hour+ wait for food with 3 kids was pretty painful. No bread was offered, no one really checked on us to apologize or explain. The food when it came was okay, but not stellar. It was fine, but not amazing.
It was a birthday dinner for my mother and her friends from out of town surprised her. The food was wonderful and the wine was better!
We reserved Sunday brunch for 18 for a surprise birthday party for my fiance... the service and staff was incredible. I greatly appreciated the accommodation and the food was excellent!
Good local California fare - hard to find an average restaurant in Sonoma, this one's on par with the others from Broadway, to the square, to Napa Ave. Waitstaff does a excellent job of menu description combined with service.
Had a great breakfast , they served a nachos dish that was amazing
Food quality was just OK, but way overpriced for what it was. Artisanal bread for $2 seemed reasonable at first, but there was only three slices of baguette and it was stale. Steak Frites was tender and fries were crispy, but overpriced at $37. Rotisserie chicken was overcooked and dry, should be spectacular for $31, but Costco chicken would have been better. Fried Smoked Ribs were good and different, Kale salad was good, but everything was 25% more than it should be. Skip this, there’s plenty of better restaurants nearby, go to Girl and the Fig.
We were there for my friend's birthday. On arriving we stood at the hostess desk for five minutes before anyone acknowledged us, then tried to seat us inside when my reservation specified we wanted outside. We then sat outside for 15 minutes before anyone even said hello or brought water. I had to go back inside and ask for someone to attend to us. Once our server figured out where we were, things improved although she did leave us for a good half hour without checking our drinks and food status. The menu was adequate and the food was fine. My glass of wine was delicious and the cocktails looked good; my companions were happy with them. The women's bathroom was out of toilet paper and garbage was overflowing. For an upscale area, with an upscale price tag to go with it, there was a lot to be desired about our dining experience. This place needs to step up their service game in a big way.
No food then cold food
Enjoyed the flank steak and the chicken
And the cocktails were excellent!
We were greeted immediately by their friendly host. The food was great from our main dish to the dessert. My husband steak was cooked to perfection and my chicken was very savory.
Our request for outdoor seating for our group of seven was accommodated. All seven of us raved about our meals, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. To top it off, Liz (our waitress), and her crew provided the most outstanding service I have experienced in years. Highly recommended!
Danielle really took care of us! She is a definite asset to the restaurant.
My mother had the brisket sandwich and LOVED it. The fries were good too. I had the fungi pizza and the topping was excellent, but the crust...
We will be back, my mom is still talking about that sandwich. I will try something else.
Very good food but we thought it was overpriced. Waiter was fabulous; friendly, attentive and accommodating.
Bella was absolutely wonderful and made our anniversary so special!
Scallops were good, duck breast was very good, side dish of mac & cheese was surprisingly satisfying, the hazelnut cake was very good, and the service was very thoughtful and attentive, but the oysters were a distinct sour note. At $24 for 6, I was expecting something special, but these were both the smallest oysters I have ever seen as well as the most insipid tasting--or, rather, non-tasting. It was our wedding anniversary, and I didn't want to make a scene arguing with our server, but it was definitely off-putting for the evening.
They know how to cook. Service was great. We will definitely go back.
Nice lunch in quiet spot - would be very good for business lunch. Menu offered good variety and starters are enough for lunch if you are not so very hungry.
Sandwiches are well crafted and prepared, would definitely visit again!
We enjoyed our 5th wedding anniversary here, and all I can see is that my wife and I were blown away at the service and hospitality. I rarely leave reviews, but felt I needed to after our amazing night here. The food, the staff, the location, etc was fantastic. If you have an anniversary or special occasion coming up, I would highly, highly recommend reserving a table here and letting the staff amaze your significant other. The wagyu steak was superb and the flash fried ribs (appetizer) was noting short of fantastic. The corn bisque was a great intermediate dish. Our waiter was full of knowledge of not only the wine, but of the beer and cocktails as well. The staff also surprised with a phenomenal dessert to complete our dinner. 2 thumbs way up and 5 stars. Thank you again for the phenomenal evening with my wife. She was blown away.
Great place to go. Sit at the bar where you can watch the kitchen
Food delicious! Beautiful presentation. Lovely, clean, classy environment!
I will definitely return!
Why isn't this place jammed at lunch? We found the food to be very good and the price acceptable. Service was really lovely. My BLT was so generous that I had to take half of it home. It's a great place for lunch. Highly recommend it!
Last had a meal here (which was fabulous!) when I stayed at the Sonoma Lodge 20 years ago so it was a nostalgia trip as, when we arrived in Sonoma this time, I noticed it was still there. No problem booking an outdoor table. I mentioned that I'd been there 20 years before but not even a flicker of acknowledgement from the greeter - maybe I expect too much! There were very few other diners - all outside - but the table cloth was dirty and stained with a variety of liquids. The ribs were nice - meaty and flavoursome ; the duck was ok and the dessert was pretty non-descript. It all seemed too much trouble so I won't be going back any time soon.
We often go to Sunday Brunch here but they are ALWAYS short staffed. They have many tables but they remain open and guests standing & waiting due to low staffing.
We had a reservation last Sunday and there were at minimum 5 tables open but they seated us at the bar in front of chefs which is okay but what I noticed was NOT. The one food prep guy went from preparing salads and sandwiches to cleaning out the pizza oven; stacking wood and stuffing old papers and boxes into the pizza oven, lighting it getting it ready and then immediately went back to preparing food without washing his hands.
Staff that does work do a terrific job!
The food is top shelf, delicious. I rdered dungeness crab corn bisque soup, which was the best I ever had! Appetizer platter is fun. It was my husband's birthday and at the end of the meal he was provided a beautiful complimentary dessert
Overpriced hotel food sums it up. Better restaurants in the square. Also if they are going to have separate reservations for Outdoor Dining, then one would think it would be available if you reserved it. Nope!
Our server Liz was fabulous! Food was really good.
We had a reservation set 2 weeks in advance , the restaurant was a quarter full and we still had to wait for a table to be cleaned/ prepared for us . Also , upon seating we waited for about 5 - 10 minutes to be acknowledged and waited in for service . It was July 4th and by the looks of things they seemed to be understaffed . After that , the night did turn for the better with really good food , a little overpriced in my opinion but overall good.
Lastly for the service and ambience , as we were enjoying our leisurely dinner ( without our kids for the first time in awhile ) We heard the main cook in the open area , mentioned how it was 9 o'clock and wanted to close up the line for everyone to leave and get out early , we felt a little bit rushed and for the experience.
The service in this restaurant is the best in town. The menu definitely is in need of an overhaul.
Outstanding meal. Party of 4 for wife’s birthday. Salmon was amazing, crispy skin, medium rare center, wonderful savory medium body white sauce. Just right, not too heavy. Usually vegetables are an afterthought but the pea sprouts and other veggies were carefully and loving prepared, so flavorful and fresh. Wife had the duck and it was amazing. Server assured us that medium rare would be the right temperature and we reluctantly agreed; good thing we trusted him. Super tender on a bed of risotto. Smokey flavor and exquisite. Highly recommend.
We are picky eaters but foodies nevertheless. We had a rather disappointing meal at Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar. We were staying at The Lodge for a wedding and had a family dinner at Carneros. Both my wife and son ordered Wagyu steak and I ordered the duck. We forgot that California restaurants tend to overdo the sauce and that's exactly what happened with my wife's and son's wagyu steaks. The steak was thick, tough (hard to cut with a steak knife?) and drowned in sauce which is just the opposite on how wagyu should be served (thin tender and very light seasoning on the side). Our bad for not ordering the sauces on the side; we realized it as soon as the plates were served. The duck was fine. It was our first meal in Sonoma and our expectations were high. We were let down. The next day we ate at Sonoma Grille and had a much better experience. Service was OK.
One of my favorites restaurants in town! Good food, nice place and good service
Food was delicious. Limited but good wine selection. Very friendly service
Food was good service was poor. Our busser was by far the best.
This isn’t exactly for the Carneros Bistro and Bar even though that is where we had a reservation for Mother’s Day. Apparently, the hotel decided to switch everyone’s reservations and do a brunch buffet in their stone event building instead.
It appears that they 1)didn’t tell anyone about the brunch buffet, 2)thought they could handle the last minute change and 3)thought they had enough seating and waitstaff.
No one we spoke to had heard about the change. Just like us, they found out when they went to the restaurant only to be greeted by a sign about the change in venue. Okay, we’re all now stuck at the mercy of the hotel since it’s Mother’s Day and everywhere is booked. Imagine walking over to the completely packed venue and now, being told we have to wait. Um...isn’t that why we made a reservation? People were NOT thrilled. Others who had arrived before us mentioned already waiting 30 minutes. This did not look promising. My mother-in-law (MIL) had to work at 3 which is why we made a noon reservation closer to her office. FORTY MINUTES later, we were seated in a gorgeous English garden setting and found out the brunch is $70/person...OMG. Well, what are ya gonna do?
Food was good, service after finally getting seated was personable and my MIL is happy...can’t ask for more. Except better customer service to let people know about the huge change and really, only letting people know it’s $70/person AFTER they waited?!
Mother's Day brunch:. I thought reservations were for Carneros Bistro and Wine Restaurant, instead brunch was in a separate building that was like a cafeteria. Our reservations were at 12, we were not seated until 12:20 (only because I went up to ask about our reservations). There was not a place to sit outside of the room, and my mother is disabled, making it very difficult for her to be standing for 20 minutes. Very unorganized.
Gravely disappointed. When I brought my concerns to the manager, he simply whined that he didn't want to host Mother's Day brunch in the annex. Not my problem. Here were some of my problems: waiting 40 minutes for a RESERVATION, waiting for food (eggs benedict, french toast, hot water, salad, potatoes) in a buffet, paying $32/child for boxed cereal and bacon, paying $70/adult for an omelet and mimosa, dealing with a manager who doesn't know how to comp customers with valid issues. My advice to you is to keep looking for your event or meal.
Was never told it was a pre-set brunch buffet and set price. Thought we would be ordering off the brunch menu. This should have been made more clear when making the reservation or, at the very least, when checking in. We had the money and could afford it; but it would have been extremely awkward if we couldn’t! The food and service was very good, but it would have been nice to know of the brunch price ahead of time.
The Service Charge was through the roof on Mother’s Day. Very disappointed, won’t be back.
We come here almost every Sunday for brunch. Food is always great, and they will modify dishes to suit. It is never loud or too crowded. Service is excellent and staff recognize us as we are regulars. I think we will be regulars for years to come!
