Fantastic! Everyone was very kinfd and fruendly. Food was excellent. Going back in a few weeks!
Awesome experience. Great food, really nice environment, great service! We already booked for Valentine’s Day!
For sure, the best restaurant in State College. I recommend.
The first poor experience of nearly a dozen. It’s worth coming back, but this isn’t a 100% restaurant anymore. Stick to the basics when here.
Had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner. Excellent food was fresh, creative and well prepared with nice menu options. The service was attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed and one of the best in Centre County.
Great food, great service, and overall great experience.
Osso Bucco was 70% fat.
Loved the atmosphere of the Library. Relaxing. Service was top notch. Food was delicious. A great experience over all amd we will definately come again when we are in State College.
Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, great food. A very relaxing evening with family.
One of the best dinning in State College. Have a predinner drink in front of the fireplCe in the library. Very good menu.
The service was excellent. The restaurant was beautiful & romantic. The appetizers & entrees were delicious. The desserts could use some improvements. It was an expensive dining.
We had a table of four for the Chef's Table inside the kitchen. One word = AMAZING!!! My husband and our two friends are total foodies and ready for whatever. I, however, am allergic to gluten and dairy, and hate seafood - I am a problem child. Not only did Chef Paul accept the challenge, but completely embraced it. One of my courses was a VEGAN CREME BRULEE! Like I said - Amazing. We all had a wonderful night with spectacular food, great friends and perfect service. We are already planning another visit to the Carnegie.
Great relaxing atmosphere and very comforting after a cold wet game in Beaver Stadium. Outstanding service and attention to detail.
We were mislead by the online menu which had entrees that were not available. We were assured that the menu had “just been changed” and that the website would be updated. My husband and I both ordered steaks, one filet mignon and one NY strip steak. WOW! They were excellent.
Very hard to find an upscale restaurant, comparable to large urban centers, in Central PA. The limited menu is always a major attraction for my wife and I; it indicates that the chef understands that you can only "master" a few entrees.
As ever, Carnegie House provided great setting, generous-pour cocktails and excellent cuisine. For my birthday, ewe were treated to Prosecco by the sommelier, Karen Sapia. Toni, our waitress, was particularly attentive.
Very disappointing service and experience. Dining has gone downhill. Been dining here for over 20 years. Service was non-attentive and mixed up both food and drink orders. Food was mediocre at best.
Has to be the best meal both my husband and I have ever had. The presentation was spectacular and the food was outstanding. On top of that the server was so friendly and efficient. I loved the addition of light up menus!! The other "stands apart from others", was they offered you the option of sitting in a comfortable room and having a cocktail while you looked over the menu. You then placed your order and did not get seated at the table until your meal was close to being served. Was such a bonus, far more relaxing and comfortable way to dine. This place is a must for anyone wanting to experience high quality on every level at a very fair price
In our opinion, the Carnegie House is the best restaurant the State College area. And it seems to just keep getting better and better. Diners can always count on expertly prepared meals that are beautifully presented, an intimate atmosphere, as well as an excellent wine list, creative cocktails, and seamless service. One of our favorite traditions at the Carnegie House is the option of first being comfortably seated in their paneled parlor before being brought into the dining room. In the parlor you can have drinks, enjoy an amuse bouche, look over the menu, and then place your order. Once your first course is ready to be served, wait staff invite you to your table in the adjoining dining room. In cold weather, the parlor often has a fire going in the fireplace. (You can also opt to be seated in the dining room right away if that's what you prefer.) It's not inexpensive, but we find that it's a good value, particularly for special occasions.
Learned about this place because I saw it on this app and WOW. Me and my wife have been missing out. Food was absolutely phenomenal. Will be dreaming about the scallops tonight. Service was great too. I let our server know it was my wife’s birthday and she put a candle on her dessert and gave her complimentary chocolates on a cute gift box! Unexpected very sweet gesture.
We arrived early for our reservation and so we were understandably sat in the lobby and told our server would be right with us. However 20 minutes went by and nobody acknowledged us sitting there. We had to reapproach the hostess. When we were able to order drinks they arrived wrong. The bartender was lovely and corrected the error right away. We were told they were short staffed and that it would be a wait for our table. Once seated - our server did not seem educated about wine or the food on the menu ( For example he called the striped bass stripped bass and when asked if there was red zin on the wine menu he said the closest they had was a blush) Multiple bones were found in the fish. The scallops were to have truffles but their flavor was undetectable (perhaps forgotten?) and the scallops were not properly cooked. Our table was positioned at a back entrance to the dining room and multiple times people opened the door to shortcut back from bathroom. I had to actually move my chair to let them through. It was quit disruptive. It’s unfortunate there aren’t enough fine dining options in State College to make this establishment more accountable to their food and service.
We had an 8:00 reservation but did not get seated until 9:00 without much explanation and no consideration off the bill or offer of anything other than an apology by one person.
Food and atmosphere were great. Service was inattentive and lacking. It was unfortunate the service distracted from an otherwise exceptional meal.
Food was excellent (as we’ve come to expect). Wait was around 45 minutes despite our reservation
I met a friend here for dinner, and am so thrilled that I did. The personal service and attention to detail made the meal perfect. It was upscale without being stuffy, which can be difficult to find. What a warm and wonderful place - I will definitely return.
The food was exceptional from beginning to end. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. I asked for bacon on my salad even though it was not part of the specific salad I ordered and our waiter graciously made it happen... and then offered to bring me some with my entree since he knew I was fond of it. A little bit of extra attention, which was so nice. Our entrees were filets which were cooked to perfection and accompanied by delicious roasted vegetables. Dessert was a crepe with chocolate mousse. Outstanding! We will certainly return to this restaurant.
This is the best fine dining restaurant in State College. Chef Paul is so attentive to detail. Plates are beautiful and delicious. It's a quiet and romantic atmosphere.
Expensive but worth every penny. The food was exquisite and the atmosphere was just as great.
Excellent food and service. We were told that it was very expensive, but compared to North Jersey or New York it was reasonable.
Carnegie House is always a favorite for a special occasion. We love the no rush atmosphere! The staff is always wonderful and the food never disappoints...beyond delicious.
We have enjoyed Carnegie House is the past and have enjoyed it. We still enjoyed our experience but felt the food quality has diminished. Same menu items just lacking this time. Will still try again.
Outstanding service and in my opinion the best restaurant in State college. I have dined there on 5 different occasions.
I had the Pasta Bolgnonese which was outstanding except for the fact that the pasta was impossibly to eat without wearing part of it. Fortunately I had the raspberry salad and a biscuit which filled me up. I brought the entree home and will be having it tonight.
My wife and I went there for our anniversary and it was a very romantic setting with fabulous food. I had the chicken Wellington and my wife had the salmon both were fantastic. The mousse crepe was delicious except for a basil leaf that was not supposed to be a part of it. Yuk. Overall great experience.
Outstanding ambiance, food, and beverages. This place always exceeds expectations.
Staff was amazing great menu and wonderful evening
First time here, you'll want to wear something nice. Had a drink in front of the fireplace, then casually moved to the dining area. Spacious, quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Menu was full of possibilities, settled on the rib eye. Food was well presented and delicious. Was told the chef is best in State College, I wouldn't argue. Well worth the price.
One of the most satisfying dining experiences I've ever had. Food was unique and tasted excellent, from appetizers to desserts. I would have expected to have to pay much more for the level of service and outstanding overall experience. I am from out of town but will be sure to stop here every time the occasion would present itself!
Great atmosphere, excellent service, perfect pacing of courses
We had the best waiter ever!
Very special evening.
Great food and over all service.
Looking forward to our next visit.
