Carnaval Brazilian BBQ Ratings and Reviews
The food and atmosphere was very good. Service was great to ensure you were never waiting for a new type of meat. My biggest complaint is we were abruptly asked to leave after 2 hours and our group had no opportunity to really digest and enjoy each others company. We had already settled our bill so clearly were not spending time eating more food. When we left there was clearly no one waiting for a table in the lobby so I don't understand why clients are rushed out the door. Very poor policy.
We were at the Carnival last night for my nephews birthday. Thursday night and not busy, which was nice. We had excellent service. We had a window table which is excellent for people watching down on Waterfront Drive. Restaurant is clean and open concept. Our waiter and waitress were very good, efficient. The sides that we had, Brazilian salad, chick peas salad and garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. Bread was not great, white bread and felt like it was from a grocery chain. The meat dishes were ever ending, one after another. They were all good, but I must say we all found the meat rather salty. But it was very tasty.
Overall we were very happy with the restaurant, it was a good choice for something different.
I must say to go with an appetite as you have a lot to eat. Too much meat for me but the guys loved it. I might go the vegetarian route if I go back again.
The chocolate cake is delicious. And grilled pineapple, sugar and cinnamon is very good also.
Overall, I was very dissappointed. I was expecting a salad/veg/potato buffet that we had in Niagara Falls & that kind of set the tone for me. The salad & potatoes were great, grilled veg overcooked. Our servicer, a young man taking engineering, was fantastic! We were seated next to the window so we could watch traffic & lights & that was great. The night out was to celebrate my son's birthday. Only chocolate desserts were offered for birthdays & he is allergic to chocolate.
I would say my expectations were not met (no buffet) and most likely will not return.....unless the buffet is added.
Great place to try a variety of barbecued meats. However with so much focus on "What meat will show up at our table next?" it's easy to miss out on some very good sides, particularly the roasted vegetables and the broccoli and kale salad, which compliment the meats very well. The roasted pineapple that comes around provides a nice balance also.
Go on an empty stomach! If you like meat, this is the place to go! There are lots of different meats and salads to choose from. The cocktails were also very delicious - I had the white sangria, but it was quite costly $12. The food is pricey, but it's worth it if you go a couple times per year or on a special occasion.
I love carnival and I recommended it to my partner for our anniversary and he fell in love with the restaurant. I would defiantly recommend for a special occasion, date night, some quality time with your love. Amazing service and such a great environment. We went on a Monday and it was so quiet it was a great time to just talk.
Very authentic, could be back in Rio! The food is fantastic - you have to be careful not to fill up on "sides". The meat is great, especially the beef - seldom get a tough bit. It is a little saltier than most people are used to but that does enhance the flavor.
The dinner ambiance felt more of adult dining and businesslike. It would be good to think of more kid friendly setting and menu selections for family dining.
I noted on my reservation of a birthday celebration, but server did not bother asking about it, nor acknowledge it. (What's the use of asking the customer of the occasion in the reservation?)
Dining overall was great, we also loved the pineapple served in a "family" servings.
My wife and I came for our anniversary and I feel like we may have booked our reservation a little early. Some of the chicken entree's were quite dry and a couple of the meats as well. As more groups started to come in the meats got much better.
Many of the items said "Kosher salt" on them but the prevalent taste of the meat itself was very salty.
The roasted vegetables we ordered seems more like they were run through a microwave instead of any actual roasting.
The garlic mashed was fantastic and as I said later meat servings were significantly better then the ones when we first arrived.
Was the first time there so we did not know what to expect. For the meat part the food was fairly good. The sirloin that I had was tough, ribs had too much sauce, the lamb had a lamb taste. The rest of the meat was good, enjoyed the prime rib.The side dishes we ordered, the rice and the potatoes were good .We had the roasted vegetables which were raw and the salad was not mixed but just had the dressing poured over the top but not mixed. For a person who does not eat much meat would not make any use for them to go.It was an experience but would not go again .Thank you
Overall we loved the food and it was a fun experience for all of us, being something different than the ordinary, so thank you!
However, there was a bit of service and treatment lacking. First, the phone call I received in response to a change I made to my reservation online was unprofessional. The female did not even confirm it was me on the phone before speaking about my information. Overall, changes made properly.
Second, on my online reservation I specified it was a birthday dinner for my dad, and, that we had a gluten allergy and would need recommendations for this. Our waitress did not seem to be aware of either of these points. When asked about gluten friendly food items, she crossed off the MAJORITY of meat items on the list. This upset my partner, and ironically he was the only one in our group that had been there before and was accommodated exceptionally, which he regularly boasted about. The waitress was very sweet but claimed that they “were not sure” about some of the items, so chose to cross them off rather than double check on the ingredients. It turned out that the ingredients in the Montreal steak spice ARE gluten free and this should have opened up more options on the menu, but they were left crossed off. My partner then chose to ask the males serving the meat directly, and they were able to clarify a lot faster. A HUGE suggestion I would make is to keep your menu up to date for gluten friendly meats, and make everyone knowledable and receptive to this information. For the high prices offered, its not fair that 8 out of 12 meats are crossed off due to lack of knowledge. This a growing concern for many places and some even go so far as to have one person, usually at the management level, come out and discuss with the patron. This would make the value IMMENSELY higher and the experience even more amazing. It seemed a bit.....immature to be honest.
Took a while to get our drinks/appetizers but the food was fantastic.
We liked how they brought the meat to our table on swords.
The "meat servers" were very knowledgeable and because we went earlier in the evening if we wanted a specific item (like the cinnamon pineapple) they brought it right away.
Might seem expensive, but we definitely ate about $50 of meat each.
We had a reservation for 4 people & none of us had ever been there before. The absolute best place I have ever been to for dinner! Out waiter was amazing & the waiters who would bring the meat were kind & patient! It is a bit pricey at 53.00 a person but I promise completely worth it. Thank you to everyone there who made all 4 of our experiences great .... we will definitely be back 😊
This restaurant is over priced and not that special. We ordered three side dishes. The polenta was cold and so hard once could have broken a tooth, the roasted vegetables were roasted to a mush, but the tomato/hearts of palm salad was very good. The meat all tasted the same to me and, if you had an outside cut, it was way too salty.
We enjoyed our dinner however we made a point of telling our waitress we were headed to a MTC play imagine our surprise when we get to the play open the program to see that they have a promotion of $30 each rather than $50 something if you show your play tickets. This was a disappointment.
Some people have complained it was too salty, they bring multiple skewers of meat around and we have found the odd one that has more salt than we care for, but most has been very good.
We took an early booking so the restaurant was not very full, The gauchos were lining up to serve us and we had to put a hold on the food, we had full plates in no time.
Overall we like this restaurant as it is a lot fun.
Food was delishious as always. Servers were fantastic and always aiming to please. We had a groupon coupon that brought the price down a little. $84 instead of tge regular $134 for two with 1 beer each. A little salty be still good food. Left with very happy tummies.
