Carnaval Brazilian BBQ Ratings and Reviews
I was super excited to try Carnival, I’ve heard nothing but great things!
My husband, daughter and I went for Valentine’s Day and every single piece of meat we received was over cooked, and tasted like it’d be sitting for quite a long time.
We were also missed numerous times and had to ask our waitress if we could try the meats that walked by us.
I didn’t find any of the meat a “variety” they all tasted the same, and I didn’t see all of them either.
We needed up paying almost $160 for both of us plus drinks and a tip, and we weren’t satisfied at all.
Super disappointed for the price we payed.
I had high expectations for this restaurant but was disappointed with how salty the meat was. It was overpowering and I’m not someone who minds salty food. Perhaps if they eased up on the salt, I would give it 5/5 rather than a 3/5.
The service and environment was great. Parking wasn’t as bad as we had expected it would be given the neighbourhood.
It’s a bit pricey but we wouldn’t have minded had the meat been 5/5.
Overall, we would recommend the experience but warn people of the salt content. We will definitely try it again to see if it was just the chef cooking who was heavy on the salt...
First off we waited forever for our server to come around. Then I had asked to see a menu which I was then told I had to eat in the lounge if I wanted menu but my husband wanted to try the all you can eat, then the meat part starts coming which most of it was very rare and I think there were about 15 meat portions we only seen 6 they kept coming around with the same stuff and what they did bring all had the same taste didn’t matter what it was. I wanted the chicken legs which I had requested the guy then returned and said they were out. In the meantime we finally met our server when we were finally able to order drinks and our sides she seemed a little pre occupied in talking to the other waitresses who I might add were very good with there tables constantly checking on them cleaning there table asking if they needed anything. There was a very pleasant young guy that we had to ask him for everything we needed. Our server came to our table 3 times once for a drink order once to finally after my husbands plate had no room cause it had all the raw rare meat on it she finally brought us a side plate for bones and scraps, didn’t refill our water which was empty then she went to the tables on either side of us we were in the middle of the 2 tables to check on them didn’t bother with us, and she only came back to ask if we ready for the bill making us feel like we were being pushed out even though it was closer to closing but not close enough. In my opinion I was not happy about being charged 122.00 for 2 people to eat and then not having the menu available to me and having to have the all you can eat. I paid 52.75 for caeser salad, mashed potatoes, and garlic bread which were all very tasty I must say. The restaurant itself was very beautiful and cozy. Just not impressed with the terrible service. I also asked the young busser/food runner if they shared tips and he said yes, that was the only reason we tipped because he did a fantastic job. Menu should be avail. in rest.
This was our 4th visit and the last two visits were marred by the following:
- meats- over cooked and too salty (only two items out of 10 ere good)
-sides- half were warm, not hot and not as well prepared as we've had in the past
-service- generally good and personable , but the last visit was painfully slow.
We will try them once more, and if no improvement, will not visit again for a couple of years.
Me and my wife enjoyed the experience but not the food. We ate at the buffet that included everything and tried 95% of the menu for $52 each. The staff is very welcoming and friendly but the meats are too salty and stakes are over done felt like chewing on a rubber on some of them.
Lamb wasn’t made well and had strong lamby/gamy odor to it.
If it wasn’t all that then I would gladly go there again.
Overall it was great. THe only thing was that we were told that we would get more than $20 off with our MTC tickets, I was told this on the phone, and also I had a coupon for this. When the bills came they had only taken 7% off, and the server said that there are two types of discounts with MTC? Even in the MTC program it says it is $30 for the dinner. It was a little embarrassing to ask to have our bills changed.
If you are not a dark meat eater as I am. Usually you get enough with chicken wings and bacon wrapped chicken breast. We have been there several times but this time we asked several times for chicken breast and didn't get it till the end of our meal and it was so dried out. My husband likes his meat so it was fine for him , but because I only got 6 pieces of meat it is way to expensive for me so we won't be coming back.
Wonderful and friendly staff!
The beef is cooked perfectly but the pork and chicken need work.
Not exactly the traditional way of cooking the sides and a buffet would save unwanted food. Portions of the sides are not suitable for singles.
Overall great experience and delicious food!
I had the all you can eat dinner (around $55 per person). For the most part it was really good. Nice char on the meats and seasoned well. Unlimited amount of sides with great choices and large enough to be shared. Friendly and attentive service. It was my boyfriends birthday as well and he received a free dessert which was nice. The only problem for me was that for someone who likes their meat medium rare, majority of the meats were served well done. Also, it was a bit hard to try every meat selection within the two hour limit. Often they would come around with the same meats and I would have to ask specifically for a type because it never came around (ie. chorizo came around four times but prime rib never did; had to ask for it). Overall, nice experience but probably won’t come back. Novelty of the place is great but it’s the kind of place you go for experience and I think once is enough.
My parents and I went to Carnaval and has an amazing time. The food was delicious with plenty of variety. My only tiny complaint is certain meats took awhile to come to us, like the prime rib (we didn’t get that until the end when we were basically full). Otherwise, great food and atmosphere.
The meats all had good flavour, however, the pork was dry, the sirloin was like rubber. Some were inedible because they were undercooked. The lamb was good and the prime rib was very good. We spent $300 for 4 of us which includes one drink each plus a moderately generous tip for the servers. Overall, the meat was very disappointing. Stick to the Keg if you want quality and value....Carnaval needs to improve before this carnivor returns!
My wife and I went for dinner to Carnival recently and overall we enjoyed the experience. Our waitress wasn't great at checking in with us throughout the evening but there was a good variety of meats to try and the we sampled a few side dishes as well. Also, the pineapple with cinnamon and sugar on it was delicious.
This was our second visit. Much better than the first time. Go early and go when it's busy for properly cooked, juicy meat. Avoid the roasted vegetables, they're over-seasoned to the point of being inedible. Overall, a good experience, even if a little pricey.
Didn't have a window seat on this visit, so ambiance not as great. Service was great-servers came around often and were friendly and helpful. We ordered 2 salads as side dishes. They were pretty much identical, and both drenched in a very vinegary dressing. Other salad we ordered was very vinegary as well. Went for lunch, pricey at $25/person for what we could eat. Can't imagine paying $52/person for supper when I can not eat any more than I did for lunch.
