Carmine’s is a family style, value-driven restaurant concept with locations in NYC, NJ, Nassau Bahamas, and Washington DC. Restaurateur Artie Cutler created Carmine’s with one goal in mind: to open a restaurant that would serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast, featuring extra large portions of home-style antipasto, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on extra large platters designed for sharing. Carmine’s is the perfect place to casually enjoy friends and family over great food and wine, with excellent service, the way it used to be at grandma’s house.

Food good consistent with other Carmine’s locations. Server was friendly and helpful with questions and allergy concerns. Didn’t see him much after order was taken would have ordered a few more drinks if we had.

Excellent southern Italian food in humongous portions! Nothing fancy but the food is great and the place is old world comfy. My wife and I stopped in on a Friday night when we arrived for a weekend visit to DC. We ordered a Caesar Salad and one order of shrimp scampi. There was enough delicious food to feed 4 people. Best to go with friends and/or family and plan to share

This is the second year we visited Carmine’s in 2 years due to a volleyball tournament. Carmine’s was so accommodating for our huge party. The food was ample and hot and we really enjoyed our Sunday evening.

Carmine' s never disappoints. I don't know how they make the food taste so good. My only gripe is that we went with 3 people and it's way too much food if you want a pasta protein and a veggie or salad.

We loved every minute of it! From a drink at the bar, to dinner for two with way too much food but SO delicious. Highly recommend our meal: caesar salad, chicken scappipine, side of marinara. Could not stop eating until overstuffed. Great bread w dipping oil too. Can't wait to go back.

Poor service. Worst wait staff I’ve experienced at any Carmines restaurant. Stay away until they hire a wait staff with a clue how to wait on customers.

From the blasé service at the hostess desk to the inordinately expensive, inordinately poor quality food, the experience was one I would not repeat.

We had 10 people, half of them kids, and everyone had a wonderful time. Great atmosphere and superb comfort food. We ordered the "Titanic" for dessert and could not finish it. I'd go there again just for that reason.

Went to Carmine’s while in DC with the kids. We wanted good food but a kid-friendly atmosphere. Carmine’s was perfect! We had the Carbonara (a special) and some garlic bread. That’s all our family of 4 needed. We had a ton of leftovers. It was delicious. I’m a foodie and no, it wasn’t the same as the Carbonara I get at my hometown high-end Italian eatery with locally sourced ingredients and handmade pasta - but it was better than any chain or run-of-the-mill Italian joint. The service was impeccable. The hostesses could use some work but the waitstaff made up for it. My 5 year-old spilled her fancy juice drink and they had it cleaned up and put a smile on her face in seconds. It was loud, but hey, so were we. It didn’t disappoint. Better than average food, fun atmosphere, and great service. I’d recommend it and go back.

We went in a big group when on vacation in DC. Sunday’s they have a special that comes with four pastas on a huge dish. The pesto gnocchi was to die for. We also got Caesar salad and chicken with lemon and butter and the food was fantastic. It’s family style and with 7 of us eating, we didn’t even come close to finishing all that food. Highly recommend.

Not ideal for a couple, but maybe I would recommend it for families or groups, the portions are meant to be shared among 4-6 guests. Kind service and ok food, maybe too much garlic, nothing great but portions really generous.

Lively place that can absorb a loud, fun group of people. Our waitress Jenny was very attentive to all our needs but, especially to my food allergies!

So we had my birthday dinner there this weekend with a party of 11. They got us all seated on time and at a decent table in the back room. The server never really introduced himself and then asked what we wanted to order. I showed up a few minutes late and thought he'd already gotten a drink order for the table. I had discussed the menu and told him what we wanted - a few appetizers, 2 pasta dishes and 2 meat dishes. When he went to put the order in, my sister asked about taking a drink order. Apparently he hadn't done that yet. The food was delivered in a timely manner but he didn't check back re: drinks the entire time. We tried to get his attention but they are apparently quite short-staffed. We flagged down the manager for more drinks --- even more water -- as we'd been eating and had no drinks. She waited a few minutes and then approached him to get the drinks, even though he was clearly in the weeds. My dad would've ordered several more bar drinks if he had the opportunity, but in the end we just drank what we could from the water pitchers on the table. The food was good but barely enough for the 11 of us, even though our bill was quite high. When we'd eaten family style at Maggianos, the servers would another platter of the food we'd ordered if we requested it, or at least a half-platter. For example, a dish of veal parmesan was around $35 but only fed 5-6 of us.

My recommendation is to go to Maggianos if you're looking for family style Italian food. You pay per person and is a much better value. You also have a more upscale experience and we've always had great service there.

Fantastic food, excellent service, and an all-around wonderful experience. I recommend that you come with a crowd of people, or at least be very hungry yourself, because the family-sized portions are more than generous.
