Sunday - Four Pasta Special
Came here before a show and the waiter was great and attentive. The food was just overwhelming, too much food for four people. We ordered calamari and spaghetti with meatballs. It was good, meatballs were uninspiring. I wish there was a way to not order family style or to order smaller servings. If you come here with a small family or party don’t bother, you’ll never finish everything. I wasn’t overly impressed and this wasn’t my first time here. It’s a bummer because I love Italian food.
Our server gave exceptional service! Very personable and attentive to not only the adults needs but to the childrens as well.
Service and food was outstanding. Portion size is HUGE! Go with a group!
First, our server Mike was amazing. He explained the menu and made us feel welcomed. If I could give 5 stars just for him, I would. He had no control over the food.
The food. It was bad.
First- the free bread is cold and had no taste. It was a mix of different breads and sadly none of it was good. There was one with a little sauce on it and then another that was just a slice of like sourdough. No butter. No oil on a plate to dip in. Just a basket of cold, dry, sponges.
So we ordered the $25 garlic bread. It came out rock hard and we sent it back. It was still kinda hard and only the “inside” was edible. I shouldn’t have to cut the edges of my bread off to be able to eat it.
The calamari was fantastic. The stars are for the calamari and service.
The spaghetti and meatballs weren’t good. The meatball tasted like mush. When you moved the spaghetti around you saw the liquid from the sauce. It looked like pink water on the bottom of the plate.
It was our anniversary and we were pretty let down. I’m surprised this restaurant is a “DC Favorite.” I would have much rather spent $150 at Maggianos. We left hungry and disappointed.
We went for my fiancé’s birthday and had a wonderful time! The portions are HUGE so I would only recommend ordering 1-2 things based on the people in your party but super tasty! And hey! Now we get to enjoy lots of leftovers.
Our waiter was great until it came time to ask for the bill. Such a pet peeve of mine. Good was delicious. Lady behind us was loud and cussing non stop. We had two children with us.
I cannot say enough about my experience at Carmine’s in DC. The food was exceptional—and I do mean exceptional— the service and atmosphere was wonderful. But I’d really like to applaud the personal attention my dad & I received by the staff (orchestrated by a manager Benson) when I called ahead that afternoon to explain I wanted to surprise my dad with concert tickets at the restaurant. They all played along with a ruse and we successfully pulled off a wonderful evening and treated my vet father like the hero he is—especially to me. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this establishment for food, service and just being the kind of place you WANT to give your business to because they do the right the thing without any questions! Forever customer!!!
Dinner before a concert at Capital One Arena. Everything was great: food, service, ambience. Bring your appetite!
Be aware this is family style eating. Need to share. Excellent food.
We enjoyed our pre-concert meal at Carmine's DC! We had the calamari, portabello parmigiana, Caesar salad, chicken scaloppini with lemon & butter, Bolognese with linguini. Very delicious and PLENTIFUL! Come hungry. Our servers were very friendly and knowledgeable.
First time dining at Carmine’s - awesome experience in every way.
Great food, service and homemade wine!! Can't beat this place.
The food was great and so was the service.. when it was time to sing happy birthday all the staff joined and made it special.. everything was smooth and everyone was really attentive deff. Recommend it.
Amazing food and wonderful atmosphere!!! Wait staff was so nice and helpful.
Food was very good as was service. A bit noisy but typical Italian restaurant. Cocktails were VERY expensive even for fine dining. Eg: $19.50 for Johnny Walker Black Label.
Classic Italian, large family style portions with friendly, helpful servers. Great for big groups looking to get together!
I was very excited about dining at Carmine's after having positive past experiences at both NYC locations. The bill for a party of four came to $300 (not including tip). The food was fair at best, and the service was equally fair - with the wait staff being unresponsive at times (had to ask for waiter a few times). The people picking up plates, bringing out food seemed to be annoyed that they were even in the building. So...next time I want to spend this level of money, I will select another restaurant that does better than fair.
It was dinner after attending the Van Gogh Immersion Experience. Topped off a great day!
The hostess was awesome and very helpful!! Alexis (our waitress), was very friendly and attentive. Always a good time!!
Very good food, very generous portions, all at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend for groups! Our server was very nice!
Great meal. Dropping off my son to attend college. He asked for Italian food. Great time. Delicious shrimp scampi, pasta and meatballs. Yum yum. Lots of distance between tables and all waitstaff was masked. I will definitely come again. Very close to capital hill. Wonderful dinner. Thank you!
The waitress was not wearing a mask over nose properly. We politely asked her to wear the mask above her nose and on the 2nd time asking her, instead of just wearing it properly, she changed our waitress. We had a good experience with the next waiter but it was terrible customer service for the waitress to not show any care for everyone's health by just simply wearing the mask properly and, instead, preferred to switch our waiter.
Food is very delicious! Staff very welcoming! Overall great!
It took an hour and a half for our pasta dishes to come out. Understand staffing is low due to the pandemic, but the lack of transparency about food status was not great.
Very expensive; plates are too big even for sharing
Our Server Rob was nothing short of AMAZING!! Food was so good!!
Delicious and ambiance is amazing the food portions are huge I recommend sitting at the bar for a smaller portion half the price
I had a great experience at Carmine's. The food was delicious and the restaurant catered to both kids and adults. The food is served family style so the portions are not small. I certainly will be coming back for lunch or dinner again!
There for a bachelorette dinner. So yummy !
Carmines use to have great food! Now it’s horribly commercialized. I’ve eaten at all the restaurants & there all consistently bad. Over prized & horribly food is all I can say about a restaurant we use to love. Bye bye Carmines.
This is my favorite Italian family style restaurant in DC!
Excellent service !
Great family lunch. Unhurried atmosphere. Great service. Delicious food.
Great food and cool atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.
Carmine’s was amazing! the service was great and the food came out quickly and tasted great! Their drinks were also tasty!!
Food was amazingly good and definitely plentiful.
A nice casual Italian restaurant. It's good to see any dress accepted, makes it more acceptable than business casual.
Food is family-style, portions good for that. Really it is a good place to good. I felt prices were acceptable for the food presented.
Carmine’s was recommended to us by our tour guide bus driver, and it did not disappoint. We did have a reservation, however we arrived ahead of schedule and we were seated immediately.
The family style portions were large enough to feed my family of four and we had leftovers.
All of the staff were very friendly, courteous, and focused on providing excellent service while we were there.
Food was bland and uninspiring. Way overpriced. I paid $25 for a plate of spaghetti and olive oil. Like a 2500% mark up. The veal parmigiana was barely enough to feed 4. Our waitress was very nice and did a good job. The carmine salad was a plate of lettuce with a few cubes of deli meet thrown in. If you were a movie I’d say good cast, good location, lousy script.
It is a mere shadow of the new york location and I’m sure it’s not because of COVID. Very disappointing. $250 meal worth about $30 dollars. It’s insulting.
Estupenda cena toda riquisimo
