Carmine's - Washington DC
Book your next event with us
This was our first time dinning here, My sister recommended this restaurant so we decided to
Book reservations 2 people for thanksgiving dinner the food was good, the service was good as well, However
The server an old gentleman with all white hair
Was nice friendly and explained that everything was family style
My only complaint would be we were mislead regarding the garlic bread
The server casually asked if we wanted bread but never mentioned that it was not complimentary.
And he proceeded to place an order without informing us
and the order which was overwhelming large garlic bread we were only 2ppl dining it definitely wasn’t necessary .
Everything else was great, prices are reassign considering the portion quantities.
We’ll definitely return with a larger party next time
The food and ambience was the best experience. However, the complimentary bread was cold and the server was really to argue over every request made. I'm not sure he was hardworking. I only gave a tip because he served in a timely manner.
The atmosphere was great, apps came out quickly and were delicious. There was a fairly significant wait time between the apps and main dishes. We were there on Thanksgiving so that may have just been due to holiday staffing schedules. The food was excellent and I would definitely go back.
Restaurant had a great vibe! Energetic and fun. Food was very good and our server was welcoming.
Unfortunately we were seated right beside the wait staff service center. I asked to move to another table and although many were available we could not.
I had to change seats with being bumped into and one guest had an elbow to the head a couple of times.
We loved the food just wish they would have honored our request to change tables
The food was average and the service just acceptable. Curious thing about this place is that all plates are to shared.
Carmine's is an excellent family style Italian experience. We took our 9 year old daughter and family friends there for a birthday celebration and it was fantastic.
Service was extremely slow, took forever to get drinks and bread to begin. However after we got our entrées it was very enjoyable. It was not overly packed or did it seem overly busy, however the service was extremely slow and seems like they were overwhelmed
Food was not tasty. Ceasar salad's anchovies tasted like it was a day or so too old. Shrimp Scampi, which is a very simple dish to make, tasted like something from a much cheaper restaurant. I think McDonalds could have done a better job.
Don’t go here if you are a couple looking for a good Italian meal. While food is good, portions are huge with high prices and NO flexibility. Wine and beer availability severely limited. No Italian beer available the night we attended. Cheapest dessert was 25$
Not a nice evening, packed restaurant with very poor service, the food was tolerable at best. We couldn't hear each other talk, just felt that the restaurant was just packing in as many people to make a buck without giving service. We had to scrounge for dishes once the food arrived, which took over 30 minutes once it arrived. The people sitting next to us, they arrived 15 minutes after we ordered and they got there food first. Sorry but best to avoid this place until they work out the problems over overcrowding and lack of service and good food
I wish I still had the receipt nearby as I wanted to give our waitress a compliment she did a fantastic job and also the hostess was able to accommodate our seating just where we wanted to be! I would recommend this restaurant to anybody in DC or anybody visiting!!!
Great place for dinner before a Caps game. The bar is great also with it's limited menu. Can't go wrong.
We had a great time. Dinner was outstanding. We will come back next time we are in DC.
Our Dinner at Carmines was a wonderful experience. The staff was professional and very accommodating when we requested a specific table. Our meal was perfection, and I truly appreciate the attention to the gluten free requirements.
All was good except portion size. We were dining as 2 and wanted different entrees but the portions are ridiculously large forcing into choices we did not want. They should offer portion size options for 2 people. It is such a waste in this day and age. Also, my veal marsala was drowning in sauce. While tasty is was more like a stew or excessive gravy poured over the veal.
My new favorite place for Italian
It was a birthday and they never sang - when I said something waiter apologized and said that they sang and brought dessert to a a wrong table
Great food. Really good service. We had a wonderful time
Had a small bachelorette party on a Saturday night. Food was excellent and your waiter was great. Very lively atmosphere. Not a restaurant for a cozy dinner! We will be going back!
Great good. Excellent service!
Delicious food and fun atmosphere! Definitely worth the trip and no wait.
Long time fan of Carmines in NYC and now in DC. It’s an hour drive from where we live into the DC location but worth the trip for special occasions. Food was just the way we remembered it from NYC and DC.
Visited for a late lunch/early diner.
They sat all the guests in a small portion of the dining room, vice spreading us out. Very cramped and no privacy.
Service was slow and unprofessional.
It look a very long time to get our drinks, and they never came back to refill our waters or ask if we wanted more wine/soda (Over the course of an hour).
There was only one waitress attending to the whole section. She was running around and was very rarely in our section of the restaurant.
We waited quite sometime to place our order, get our food, and get our check. This was frustrating because the manager was no where to be found, and there were several hostesses/servers huddled around the hostesses station for most of the time I was there.
The food was very good and the restaurant was clean.
Not the typical Carmines experience. When in NYC we visit that location often, and this is not the norm. Maybe it was due to time of day, or because it was a raining Tuesday? Either-way, it was a disappointing experience. I’m not sure we’ll be returning, we may just save our Carmine’s experiences for our New York trips.
We were greeted and seated very quickly on our arrival with a reservation. Food portions were generous family style. The complimentary bread, stuffed artichoke, spaghetti and meatballs were yummy. Our side of broccoli was just okay. The tiramisu was sweet and tasty buy mostly whipped cream was the dish. Would of loved to have tasted a little more of the thin layers. Our server was helpful and attentive. Wish I could remember his name.
Our service was amazing and the food so delicious!
Hostess stand wasn’t pleasant at all. Tables are very close not considering Covid, although this is the biggest restaurant in DC. Spicy Scarpariello Wings were good. Ordered the Shrimp with red sauce and angel hair pasta, sauce wasn’t red and was bland. Waitress suggested adding marinara which made it better. Waitress never offered to refills drinks or dessert. The water pitcher sitting on the small table for two people was awkward. Compared to Atlantic City location, I prefer Atlantic City
Not ideal for a business meeting.
The staff was very accommodating to our large group. The food was amazing and everyone had a wonderful time.
As always, the food is excellent! Service is great as always! Definitely, we will be back soon for a special occasion.
We all had upset stomachs after dinner and our first waiter was bossy so we asked that he be changed
I really like the fact that you can go there and leave with a belly full + a large to go. All that without spending more than $50 for 2 people. It’s very rare these days in most restaurants. The food taste is not extra but it’s still good.
Awesome experience loved the food and the service. Drinks were outstanding as well, a sure return indeed.
Such a wonderful place!! When I made the reservation I put it was for a birthday and didn’t think anything else about it. When we finished eating the staff came over with ice cream with a candle and sang happy birthday to my fiancé! The best Italian food, we live 3 hours away and will definitely be back for sure!!!
Great dinner and awesome service! A tad pricey for the caliber of food but very good!
Very friendly server. Attentive and pleasant. Food was really good. The restaurant was not busy (5 tables), but the kitchen seemed quite slow. Our appetizer never arrived. We finally asked for it to be boxed up as take away. (Covid-related staff shortage maybe?). But for that, it was a very nice lunch.
The family style is great for parties of 3 or more. Don't offer options for just 2. The garlic bread was fantastic. The lasagna left much to be desired. All noodles and little to no fillings. The marinara sauce also was kinda bland.
It was a wonderful experience. I am
disfigured facially due to cancer and they treated me so well. They let us have happy hour at our table so I wouldn't have to be exposed to many people. The food was delicious, absolutely outstanding. We had eggplant rollatini, spinach dip, garlic parm bread, pasta in garlic and oil and cannolis. Everything was amazing and the prices were good too. Thank you for treating me so well! I don't feel comfortable eating out now so it was a real treat!❤️
Chicken park was undercooked I’m center, awesome Caesar salad.
Not that great, long time to get water or order anything from the server
