About Carmine's - Washington DC

Carmine’s is a family style, value-driven restaurant concept with locations in NYC, NJ, Nassau Bahamas, and Washington DC. Restaurateur Artie Cutler created Carmine’s with one goal in mind: to open a restaurant that would serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast, featuring extra large portions of home-style antipasto, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on extra large platters designed for sharing. Carmine’s is the perfect place to casually enjoy friends and family over great food and wine, with excellent service, the way it used to be at grandma’s house.

I’m not one to complain but this Restaurant is nettled in with numerous food options and need to step up their service and food quality to continue and complete.

HUGE portions which is good for 2+ people - since there was just two of us, we had a ton of food left over. Our server seemed to want to be anywhere but working that night so that was a bummer, but overall - we really enjoyed the food and drinks!

I enjoy Carmine’s as it’s great for groups. I was only with one person so I was worried it would be too much, but they helped suggest what to get and not have a ton of leftovers.

There were 25 of us. We were celebrating a special occasion. The food was great! The family style meals were perfect for a large group like ours. It was also easy to split up the check. The only complaint is how long it took to get our food.

Nos atendieron muy mal. No habíamos terminado de comer que nos apuraban para el postre porque cerraba la cocina. La comida estaba fría. Realmente un desastre

Carmine's is a great family style restaurant. I am gluten free and never know what I'm getting into with new restaurants. The server was very knowledgeable and the options were plentiful. Between my husband and I we only ordered 1 chicken entree. This was one of the best Italian meals of our lives...and my mother in law is Italian. We can not wait to go back.

This is the third time I’ve dined here and have enjoyed the food and the service each time. My absolute favorite dish is the Mixed Seafood pasta. The noodles we chose was the spaghetti and it was cooked to perfection.

Well to begin with...I announced my name... Open Table reservation..9 PM NYE./..table for one. .
I made this reservation 6 months ago. I have been to the Carmines on the Upper West Side in NYC..They pressed the button I was a "no show"...I purchased a tab of $77.00. I was seated behind a work station (near the front door) for the waiter staff. I was always bumped when they used it. See photo...I asked for the empty table by the window I was told..that one was was a "special request"...I made my reservation 6 months ago. Where I was seated every time the front door open you felt the cold. In my Open Table Reservation I asked, no table by the front door, not by the kitchen, not by the restrooms... For some reason single diners always are seated at one of these locations. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms...meatballs and pasta..a glass of wine. The food was terrific...the dining experience was not. I invite the Carmines management to contact me. Work station photo below was 6 inches behind my seat...

We really enjoyed our evening dinner at Carmine's. They hosted 19 of our closest friends to ring in the new year with a delicious meal. The wait staff was great, the food was great, and we really enjoyed our own private room. If you are looking to host a big crowd and have a private touch of enjoying each others company, I recommend you check them out!

We had a reservation and checked in with the hostess (who was not very pleasant). We waited 20 minutes while she proceeded to seat every walk-in who came in. Defeats the purpose of making a reservation! The food was good; not great. I wish we could order an item off the menu that is suitable for one person and not an entire army. One appetizer cost over $30 and more than half wasn't eaten by our table of 4. The portions are ridiculously huge and a waste of money. The wine is overpriced, but I guess that's typical of a D.C. restaurant. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu.

I was TERRIBLY disappointed in the food at Carmine’s DC. I visit Carmine’s NY (Upper West Side) annually with family and friends because we love the food and family style dining. In DC the penne ala vodka was bland and more than al dente, shrimp parmigiana was over cooked and appeared to be reheated with an extra layer of cheese and the broccoli was burnt. Chicken parmigiana and Caesar salad was good and we were grateful to be seated in a semi-private room. I didn’t complain because it was my 50th birthday celebration and we didn’t have time to request fresh dishes be prepared as we were going to a concert in the area. Carmine’s is way too expensive to not have good tasting and well prepared food. Unfortunately I would not return to or recommend Carmine’s DC until they improve the quality of their food. Patrons should visit either of the two NY Carmine’s restaurants if ever in the NY/NJ area.

Neat experience if everyone can decide on 1 or 2 entrees. The salads will serve 4-5 people. Each entree will serve 3-4 people. We had 4 adults and 1 child, ordered bread, a salad, and 2 entrees and had enough leftover for 1 lunch. Food tasted great!

We have frequented the Manhattan locations over the years and must say that the DC Carmine's pales in comparison. We had the Zuppa de Mussels in red sauce, they were very sandy. For the main course we had the Veal Saltinboca, a personal favorite, the veal was tender but the prosciuto was dry and chewy. We ordered a botlle of wine which the waiter opened, poured a glass and never pourd again. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and our table was by th window which made the experience enjoyable. Alas we will not be returning.
