Great food, served in extra generous portions. The dessert plate was humongous. You can easily feed 3 per plate, amazing taste, great value in an excellent location. Will return every time I visit the capital!
Always a great experience. I take friends and family to Carmine's anytime someone is visiting or for a special event. Amazing food and desserts.
Our waitress was so nice and efficient!
Great reviews but didn’t match our experience. Food was good but not great. Portions are oversized which is good but also means sharing and not individual preference reigns due to the price point of $27-$31 per plate.
Service was slow but food arrived in a timely manner. Mgr saw we hadn’t had refills and came to assist. Server never noticed. When I asked for a 2nd refill it took sects minutes to receive. Had to ask for the bill twice becuSe server forgot or just was too busy.
This is a wonderful place to eat for 4 or more people. The food is always fantastic and filling. My service rating is low because our server was not as serviceable as expected for a restaurant of this caliber. Empty plates and dishes stacked up on the table and he did not come around often enough to check on us.
Average food - large portions , service was average - nothing great
Food is always great at Carmine’s here and NYC. However the service is DC is not great. Second time here and same poor service and even sat at same table. Had to go to the bar to get our water pitcher filled and we were a table of 8, their largest party with the least service. Our waiter was at the table and my son spilled his water and the waiter didn’t offer napkin or help or anything. For the price the service should be much better.
Meal was delicious, great value
Outstanding food and atmosphere. Been to the one in DC on three different visits and one in New York. Really love the food!
With family in town for the A-10 tournament, this seemed like a great time to try Carmine's. The place did not disappoint! Come with a group, an empty stomach, and a hearty appetite because the food is amazing and the portions are LARGE for sharing. The old fashioned, family-style, southern Italian cooking is just great for families and groups. Definitely looking forward to going back.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday with our daughter and grandchildren. Everything was so good, the food was delicious and service was wonderful. Our waiter was ver attentive and sweet. We will be back.
My husband and I dined Saturday night with my daughter and her boyfriend. We agreed to order the Saturday night special, prime rib with mashed potatoes and broccolini. It was AMAZING! The prime rib was seasoned well and cooked exactly to order. The potatoes' consistency was perfect. We also ordered stuffed mushrooms and spaghetti bolognese. All excellent. When we return to Chicago, I'm certain we will return, but we'll try to go on a week night. Saturday was a bit frenetic.
GREAT food! This was my 1st visit but not my last! Have referred people already and am looking forward to my next visit. The wait staff left something to be desired but the managers who were walking around more than made up for any shortcomings.
Food was mediocre at best, waitstaff was attentive, was your basic loud Italian restaurant. Overall, prices weren't worth the value of the knockoff Italian atmosphere, oily pasta, mediocre wine, and high prices. Better places in DC to spend your money!
Dining at Carmines of DC was my first and last experience, the staff needs etiquette lessons, the food was great in quantity but lacking taste. I expected much better for the price because my lasagna tasted like the Italian food from the can that you warm up for kids. There were 8 shrimp in a $32 gnocchi with a nasty white sauce meal. The ice cream in the titanic tasted freezer burned, it wasn't your best brand of ice cream it tasted very cheap.
portions are huge but with 4 people made it easy to share and taste everything. The best eggplant parmigiana I ever had.
Food was excellent! Waiter was great! Hostess that showed us to our table was the worst part of the evening.
Great food and plenty of it! We love Carmine’s. Try to go every time we are near one
Food was great! HUGE servings. Our order of lasagna would serve 4 adults. Great service and kid friendly.
Wow --- you were right, entries are definitely meant for more than 2 people! My granddaughter and I ordered a Lasagna and it was DELICIOUS. We actually made quite a dent into it; took the rest back to our hotel for breakfast the next morning. Had a difficult time lining up an Uber ride, but there were plenty of taxis open for the taking. The valet staff were most helpful in getting us into a cab. Thanks so much!
Waiter was rude and didn’t check on us for long periods at a time
Celebrating a birthday
Never a bad experience with Carmines
We absolutely love Carmine’s!! The cosmo’s are the best and the happy hour menu is great!🍝🍸🍻
Nandi was an excellent service
Food was great
Porterhouse did not come out medium rare but the correction was done and we appreciated it so much
Horrible food. Greasy apps. Everything else was under cooked. Waiter was nice though.
Two visits and two great experiences, two years apart. Carmine's is on our must visit when we get to DC
The restaurant was nice. The food was delicious. Family-style is not for everyone, but it worked really well with our large group! We will definitely dine there again the next time we take a group to see the theatre!
Celebrated our wedding anniversary. Nice relaxed and great great food! We’re regulars here. Great every time.
Family style Italian food in Penn Quarter. The Ravioli was delicious. We also tried the veal saltimbocca and the mussles. The prices are very affordable. Plenty of food to share and lots of options.
Great to meet & talk. Love the family style dining!
It took a while for the server to initially approach our table but once he was there, he was attentive.
Good food. Lots of it!
Daughter’s Birthday everything was wonderful.
Great red wine sauce with prawns
Now have eaten in 3 Carmines NYC, Atlantic City and now Washington DC
Large portions and a good value.
We are always happy to go to Carmine’s. The food is always good and consistent.
