Server was outstanding
We arrived at a shift change so we had a bit of a wait to order which I understand. But everything else was above and beyond I really enjoyed myself.
Was seated immediately at the time I placed my reservation. Our waiter/server was helpful with our order since it was our first time attending. Was surprised about the portions of the food but it was absolutely delicious and authentic tasting. Would definitely come back again!
Great meal, reasonably priced! Live it! Veal parmigiana was fabulous! I should know growing up with an Italian restauranteur for a Dad!
Food is excellent. Don't order too much since it is Family style. We all loved it. Atmosphere and music was enjoyed by all.
We were seated at 5:15 and ordered fairly quickly, but our main dishes took forever and we didn't leave for the Caps game until after 7 😟
The service was slow and it was not crowded during lunch time. The quantity is a plus but the quality was just okay.
The food was great
Atmosphere and food were great but the waiters were loud and the portions were too large for 2 people. We saw there was a happy hour menu after we arrived for our dinner reservation but the waiter was very put out when we asked questions about it. We ordered one entree, could only eat half of it, only drank water and the bill was $50. would be good for a foursome as long as everyone likes the same thing. They really need a combo entree for couples.
Love the family style presentation. Food is excellent and servers are attentive.
Our experience was fair from the start. We were early for our reservation so sat at the bar for a quick drink. The bartenders were friendly and I was offered a taste of the house red before committing, which I appreciated. My husband ordered a specific bourbon on the rocks - he drank a bit and decided that it was probably not what he ordered or was watered down. He should have asked the bartender for a replacement, but we went to the hostess stand and checked in at 5:55 for our 6:00 reservation. We watched as the hostesses cleared the waiting area before we were seated at 6:15. People...you have to HOLD the reservation. Once at the table, our server was very pleasant and explained portion size, etc. Our entree was brought to the table and was not correct. We ordered red pasta with shrimp and white pasta was what came out. We mentioned this to the waiter who apologized and whisked it back to the kitchen. It came back out with some stewed tomatoes on top. It was fine. This restaurant is just like Maggianos - family-style, large portions, big dining room, photos on the walls and Sinatra and Tony Bennett playing. The food is slightly better, and we knew it was a chain going in. Touristy and disappointing.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and we absolutely love the family style dinner portions. The food is amazing!
Disappointing visit. We came to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Our waiter either had to many tables or was very forgetful. After asking 3x’s for a glass of Prosecco, he finally brought me a glass of white wine (not sure what kind). Service very slow. Clearing of dirty plates very slow. Hard to get beverage refills. We just ordered a simple penne and meatball meal. Penne was undercooked. Only positive experience was the tugboat dessert we shared, which was really good.
Good food. Regular service
Great 'family style' dinner in D.C.'s Penn Quarter! Having Italian roots, we can be a tough crowd when it comes to eating at an Italian restaurant but this was fantastic! Highly recommend, especially for large groups
Wonderful place to catch up with friends. Attentive friendly service, great Italian comfort food, very generous portions. Never been there for dinner but always relaxed, pleasant and quiet at lunch time.
We visited Nov. 7th for a special birthday celebration because this restaurant has an allergy friendly menu. We had a reservation, and were seated right at our reserved time. The waiter seemed unfamiliar with the menu and was very inattentive. He brought us bread and drinks and was MIA for an hour. When he did come back he did not stay long enough for us to order more drinks, and was flustered when I flagged him down to order a soda to go with my dinner (we had empty glasses WELL before our dinner was brought to us.). We seriously considered going to the bar to order our own drinks but refrained. Our food took over an hour to arrive after it was ordered, though was very good when we got it. Finally we had to flag him down again to ask for our check after being there over 2 hours. When the waiter finally returned with it the manager had kindly removed the price of the gluten free pasta entree (we did not complain, she just did so as a courtesy), but the waiter had circled the removed price and pointed out that he had not been responsible for the delay so that we would make sure to tip him for the full amount. Needless to say, due to the poor service, this was not our best DC dining experience.
Excellent overall experience. The food was delicious. Our waitstaff was top notch.
Robert was great!!
What a place!! Everything is for sharing and my husband and I had the meatballs with linguini for nearly $35. It could easily serve another person. The waiter was very helpful as well. This is definitely a place for friends or family gathering.
Morgan was our waiter this evening. He was very attentive and professional throughout the entire meal. We really enjoyed our dining experience.
Server was very pleasant and did a good job explaining dining choices. As always, we were not disappointed with the food.
Huge portions of food. So much you wont be able to eat it all. The food is excellent but similar to other Italian places like Maggianos except at a much higher price for the same quality.
Our waiter was not the best. He was not attentive and slow handling our requests. The ladies room was disgusting and tight in there. Toilet paper in every other stall.
Great food, friendly service. A great time at a reasonable price.
The service is amazing and the food is delicious, one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Washington, DC area. The family style entree is a big value especially with large groups.
Really great food, good value for the money! We’re definitely do it again, old-school Italian restaurant!
Big portions. Service was fantastic and very friendly staff.
I went in pretty excited but everything was pretty mediocre from the service to the food. I was happy to try a new restaurant in DC but probably won’t go back. Just my opinion.
Great place to take a group for a reliably good and reasonably priced meal!
Excellent food, friendly service, great wine and amazing prices! I love this place and will keep coming back!
Group of 14, where told check could be split in 4 before ordering then when it became time to pay we where told no split checks, which wasnt an issue just poor communication, also food was ok feel as if more quantity of food takes away from focusing on quality
Good food and service. The noise level could be better if parties were placed in separate areas than tables of 2 and 4. We would go again because food and wine were reasonably priced and very good. John
Great food and atmosphere. Service was excellent. Reservation through Open Table the way to go.
Our server was very new and the service was very slow. We didn’t realize the entrees were family style and would have ordered differently had we known.,
Delicious food. Order less than you think, portions are SO big! Enjoy the leftovers too!
The food and service was very good and the portions are enough for four. This was our first time there and will definitely have to make it back.
Great for a friends and family get together.
The service is fast, friendly and efficient.
We had 7 in our group inclusive of a 10, 8 and 7 year old, two grumpy old seniors and daughter and son-in-law and we all left full and happy!
The food and the service was excellent. We went to Carmine’s right before a Caps game and couldn’t have been more pleased with our overall experience.
