Good service and good food. Also a good value. Wines are too expensive.
Great family-style dining with friendly, attentive servers and copious quantities of food. Love sharing dishes and trying new things.
As usual they delivered a fantastic dining experience from the drinks, to the apps, to the main course everything was delicious! We will be coming back odten
My family has been going to this restaurant for 8 years... The food is very good. We had reservations for 6 for my son's 14 birthday (his favorite restaurant ) however, we had a late addition and ended up showing up with 7. Apparently the +1 was a difficult thing for the manager to wrap his head around as he immediately told us they could not accommodate the extra 13 year old. I don't get it. Food is very good if you like Italian just make sure to get the party size correct.
Pasta alla Carmine’s was very, very over seasoned with garlic. Chicken Montana was ok. The house salad was swimming in dressing but flavor was good. Food came out about 2 minutes after my cocktail.
We explained to our waitress what our feelings were about the food, but we ate a fair portion of it so expected nothing as a result, but our critique was not well received.
No reason to return.
It’s been years since I ate at Carmine’s, but I was back in town and thought I’d try it again. The first red flag was that the restaurant was virtually empty at 7 on a Thursday night. The antipasti plate was bland and worse then basic with mozzarella and slices of provolone as the cheese selections. The rest of the food was fine, but pedestrian and expensive for what you get. The service was good, but Carmine’s has clearly lost it’s edge. Nothing special anymore. I recommend spending your money at a restaurant that’s still trying to be something special.
We sat on the patio, which was enclosed because of some recent cold weather. It was extremely loud inside, difficult to have a conversation. I wonder if it was because of the enclosure or what, but I was disappointed in the noise level. On the other hand, the food was delicious and the server was great.
Excellent service and food. Waiter was helpful with suggestions for a couple of food issues.
Great midweek place for Italian comfort food! It was a group of 4 friends and thank goodness for our outstanding wait person who patiently explained the menu and figured out how we could all get what we wanted since the restaurant serves family style. The eye opener was the chance to see how this group had some very finicky eaters! Lesson learned.
I am pleased to see the two person serving size. We still had food to take home. Wine was excellent.
I love dining at Carmine's on Penn, this time we were in a hurry and this did us right with very prompt service. Great food, great place!
This is my husband's favorite restaurant. The food is good, the ambiance is cozy, and price is great. I only have two complaints. None of the dishes listed on the menu have descriptions; instead, they rely on the servers to explain it. I'd rather know what I want to order from the description than wait for the waitstaff. Secondly, it would be nice to have single portions instead of having to always order as a family style.
Always a great meal. Pear salad is a must.
We have been extremely happy with this restaurant for over 20 years. It is in a residential neighborhood with lots of life on the streets. The atmosphere is varied with comfortable tables inside, additional tables in the closed in patio area, and a comfortable bar. The food is always top notch based on Italian cooking with servings for two or family style. My favorites are the pear salad and veal pazzo along with spaghetti Capo. The staff is always very knowledgeable and very helpful.
We had great food and service. This is one of our go to restaurants.
After hearing about Carmine's on Penn for many years, this was our 1st visit. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgable, describing each dish. Portions are huge...plenty for leftovers! The Ravioli appetizer was fresh and the sauce added interesting flavor. The pear salad was light, crunchy, and very flavorful. Chicken Montana was exquisite...Chicken Parmigan equally tasty. Overall a great dining experience!
I've been to Carmine's several times, tried a different dish each time, and have yet to be disappointed. Also, their tiramisu, which is quasi deconstructed, is fantastic!
Food was excellent along with the atmosphere. Waiter was great in helping with ordering and suggesting food choices, would definitely recommend to others.
The food was amazing as always. I have never had a bad meal or service here. Nate our was awesome.
This is a great place for a group of people who like to share food. Might be difficult to have people who are super picky, have restrictive diets, or don't like sharing. Food is ordered and served family style. The cesar salad was fine, but not extraordinary. Our pasta with veal ragu and mushrooms was really tasty. It was like beef stroganoff with way more flavor. A hug for the old tummy.
The food was delicious. Loved the garlic bread, the pasta sauce and all was very well presented.
Always great food and huge portions! The service was good and the cannoli’s are amazing.
Been here many times for casual meals and special occasions. Never disappointed.
Loved our experience! it was easy to leave 20% with such amazing serves and food.
Great food and equally Great service. Understand why Carmine's has withstood the test of time!!
The pasta was soggy, the chicken was cold and after the meal was broght to the table the waiter was nonexistant.
There were MANY items on the menu that were unidentifiable example: "Moose"....and no description as to what the hell that could be. Some items we recoginized BUT were told were "non traditional"
We took the waiters word for a popular dish but couldn't eat the dish...four of us....non thought it was edible. Soggy, almost paste like pasta.
I had to leave the table to find another waiter to order dessert (included)....and still left before he came, 20minutes.
Our worse dining experience in years.
We went to Carmine's for restaurant week. We didn't think the restaurant week menu was a good value, so we ordered off of the regular menu. The food was good for family-style Italian, although a little expensive due to the portion size. The ambiance on a Tuesday was too quiet - there wasn't any music on and the staff were around the bar chatting. I have been to Carmine's before for a birthday party and had a very pleasant experience on a Friday when it was loud and active, but during the week it was very different. Overall, good food, big portions, nice staff.
The entries, apps, and desert are glorious! The wine list extensive. We had a great time celebrating a birthday! Recommend.
In my top restaurants in the metro denver atea. Fantastic, service, knowledgeable, and non pretencious. Best desserts
This was a wonderful evening meal and service. The staff was friendly and social and the food delicious.
Best friends. Mate the server was absolutely outstanding
Great food Love the 2 and 4 plates BUT staff seems rather rude and arrogant Just about ran me over on the way to restroom.. (2x) Restrooms are smaller than on an airline and only !! This legal for size of restaurant ?
The service was great, even though it was very crowed and was "5280 Restaurant Week".
The food was good, however not quite like it was when the restaurant first opened 25 years ago.
Love the neighborhood atmosphere, will continue to come Carmines.
Unfortunately it seems Carmine’s has gone downhill. Staff seemed overwhelmed and the food quality was poor. Not what we remembered from all the years we’ve been going here - really disappointing to see!
Really enjoyed the restaurant week menu. Their vodka sauce is yummy and the shrimp Parmesan and house salad both were great. Had to add the tiramisu to finish the meal!
Disappointing night celebrating birthdays. The food was very average.
I went with my girlfriend for the first night of Denver Restaurant Week. We had a great table in the back where we could see the entire restaurant. Arthur was our server. He recommended the Carbanara and the mussels. Amazing. The free bread delivered to our table at the beginning was out of this world! We can't wait to come back! We also thought Arthur was awesome!
We love Carmine’s. We had our wedding day reception/dinner there and it’s a favorite of ours. We took my step kids this time, both teens. We ordered the carbonara pasta, the pasta with meatballs in vodka sauce, and the sausage and peppers. Everything was delicious and everyone enjoyed the meal. We love family style because we get leftovers which makes this a good choice for the price. The staff is always pleasant and in tune to their customers and we love the location, a little restaurant tucked in to a residential neighborhood.
The food was so delicious. The tomato topping of the portobello appetizer was so yummy. The parmesan on the chicken parmigiana was very fresh. It was a little pricier than I was expecting but the leftovers lasted for 3 more meals, so it was worth it. Excellent service, as well: after my meal, I gathered up all my things and headed to the restroom before leaving. While I was there, I got a call from the hostess, saying that I had left my hat on the table. Very grateful!
