Treat MOM to family style dining at Carmine's on Penn!
We come here because we know it will always be excellent every single time. Our server, Marie, was awesome. Very professional team. We were in and out in 45 minutes.
Lovely ambiance meets excellent Italian food for the win. We sat outside and enjoyed the Spring day. Service was great - everyone was friendly and helpful.
I'd give a 5 of 5 stars except for the fact that the restaurant is now adding a 20% "service fee" on every check instead of depending on tips for good service. This will definitely factor in to my decision to return.
Amazing birthday experience
The food was amazing and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly! Also, I felt very safe with their Covid adjustments.
Went for my 40th birthday - and the experience was pretty mediocre. Sat in the back corner right by a kitchen door. Service was rushed at times, and really lagging at others.
Friend asked for a cocktail - but with a different liquor. Pretty standard request that they refused to fulfill.
We've been going to Carmine's for years for special occasions. Food, wine, and service are always top notch.
Have been coming here for 25 years. Always great.
Everything was great, our servers were great (training a new server), food on time, portions not what they used to be, very nice evening then they bring the bill. There was a 20% charge (thought it was strange they added tip to a table of 4). Waitress brought up the 20% fee, not tip but a $22 Covid fee! Seriously, they sprayed the chairs and changed the paper table cloth! We tip our servers well, but the $22 Covid fee? Unfortunately we won’t be back. No other restaurant we’ve been to since Covid has charged a 20% fee, any fee. Charge $5, not 20%!
Absolutely wonderful meal! Both food and service was outstanding. Thank you Jess! You and the entire staff are delightful.
Birthday and family get together
Mom going back to work!
We were disheartened to discover that the quality Carmine’s food suffered during the quarantine. Not want we’d experienced before. Completely lackluster salads. No flavor in pear salad and eat too salty Caesar. Frutti de mare was meh. Had recommended to friends who treated us. Won’t make that mistake again.
Fantastic food as always, best chicken Parmesan ever. Ambiance is always nice
Always wonderful - service, food, ambiance!
One of our absolute favorites!
Carmine’s on Penn is our favorite date night restaurant. The ambiance is laid back, and comfortable, and lovely. Service is exceptional. The food is absolutely excellent. We recommend our favorite date-night restaurant to everyone.
Saturday we went with six of our friends and had another outstanding dinner. The large group did not phase the staff, service was fantastic as always and the meal was outstanding. The Veal Tenderloin with Polenta was amazing.
Incredible food and service! I have quite a few food sensitivities — or at least I’m trying to figure them out — and every staff member was so kind and accommodating. PLUS. The food is phenomenal. I ordered a modified version of the seasonal gnocchi and it was so so so good.
I was disappointed with the meal size considering pasta is cheap to begin with. I especially didn't like the 20 % service they added onto the bill. Since we only ordered a beer and one glass of wine I let it slide. We were contimplating a bottle of wine. I would have been upset to drop 70 on the bottle and another 15 added to the service fee for them to bring it to the table. I don't think I will be returning
We have dined several times at Carmine's in the past and have always loved it, so I'm hoping maybe this was a one-off due to Covid or something. Four of the six of us ate pasta and we ordered enough for six people but left hungry. The ravioli was meager and the gnocchi with seasonal vegetables equaled about two tablespoons of food when divided by 4. We left feeling unsatisfied and without leftovers, which is unusual for Carmine's.
We were in a room in the back that blew cold air about every ten minutes and we had to ask each time for it to be turned off. Maybe this was purposeful for air circulation due to the pandemic, but it made for an uncomfortable night.
We always enjoy our overall experience every time we go.
Wonderful Italian restaurant. My boyfriend and I had the carbonara, best we’ve ever had hands down! The garlic rolls are amazing as well as the bruschetta.
Fabulous, as always. Specials rotate and are a great surprise (beet gnocchi!!) and of course the standards. 15+ years (for us) absolutely enjoying Carmine’s OP.
Best Italian in Denver
Our waiter was fantastic- knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. We didn’t have to wait at all to be seated for our reservation even though we were told we might have to, which was nice. The salad and bread were delicious. Our entrees however, were not good. Both dishes lacked flavor and were not worth the price. We may come back to try other dishes, but because of the money vs quality of first experience, it’s unlikely.
Great date night.
Great experience, just like always! If you haven't been, highly recommend to try it, we've been coming here for well over 20 years. One of our favorites!
Very rood maitre dee - food has gone down unfortunately but I am not giving up
Love that it is a local owner and am rooting for Carmines
Had reservations. We were greeted and seated immediately. Sever was informative about daily specials. Every employee walking by our table didn’t hesitate to remove any items/plates and always asked if we needed anything else. Only my 2nd time there. Due to covid, seating was spaced out, so I actually enjoyed the experience more.
The food used to be excellent. Not sure what happened.
One of the best dining experiences ever! The food was amazing and the staff was great.
This was my first time dining at Carmines. We had to ask for butter for the bread, which seemed strange to me. Make sure you do so though because it is amazing shaved butter! The drinks and salads were excellent! The pasta was too al dente for my liking, but the sausage that was in it was delicious. Not a total bust, but I didn’t feel like Carmine’s lived up to its reputation.
Great food! Disappointed they were out of GF pasta, how is an
Italian restaurant out of pasta?? Also, they told me they sold out of Seafood when I ordered Fruiti di Mare then came back to say it was just Mussels they were out of.
Really dig the food style - was perfect for sharing both the raviolis and soup! Would definitely recommend for any occasion
Still a deliciously reliable and great staple of Denver, even during challenging times.
It is the responsibility of the restaurant & server to make sure that the customer will be paying a 20% service charge for a party of 4 resulting from COVID!
We love this restaurant, but slipping in a 20% service charge & then happily accepting an additional 25% normal Tip is really unforgivable!
We won’t be back for a long while
Staff and the whole place was very covid-friendly. We ate on the patio and temperature was good bordering on hot. The food was all fantastic (vodka ravioli, chicken parm) as was the service-our waitress stayed about 6 feet as much as she could. We went for a special birthday and they still brought out the free bday dessert which we didn't expect with Covid. It was such a great experience I want to only go to Carmine's from now on! Plus the bread was so delicious.
We’ve never been disappointed with Carmine’s! The food is fantastic and the service is just great!
Carmine’s never disappoints. We love coming here for special occasions but also the in between. Everything is great, though I will say when the restaurant is not busy it almost feels too quiet. Some music may help, as you can hear people at other tables. I’m sure is supposed to play into the family style atmosphere. With a full restaurant the ambiance is great. Love the family style ordering concept and knowledgeable servers. Thank you Carmine’s for being amazing!
