Second time to eat here. Great food and service. Will definitely go back
This is what I wrote to their site, FB page & Yelp.
Have not heard anything back.
Hey Carmine's on Penn!
You BLEW IT with us last night!!
I did research for over a week for where we would go this year for our one RW dinner and chose your place.
You ADVERTISED, $35/pp and Choice of: 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 1 entrée and 1 dessert.
I thought that meant me and my husband had the possibility of trying 8 different things at your restaurant that we both hadn't been to in years and which we both had loved in the past!
Come to find when we get there and look at the RW menu, it's $70/table for 1 app, 1 salad and 1 entrée!!! And by the way, now I have to PAY extra if I want dessert!!!
Felt like a bait & switch to me! And your server didn't even seem to know what I was talking about when I brought it up.
Needless to say, I was ready to walk out. My husband persuaded me to stay and order 1 entrée to split, which we did. Mainly because, I had kept my reservation, despite being in the car for the last 7 plus hours, driving back from Nebraska!
Had it been the FIRST Sunday night in RW, I DEFINITELY would have walked out and picked another restaurant for another night!!
You all need to FIX THIS, or please, DON'T DO Restaurant Week!!
This is a quaint little place that we decided to try for Restaurant Week this year. On the Denver.org website it had $35 for 4 courses, but when we got there they said that was a mistake and we only got to pick 3 of the 4 courses listed. This really only saved us about $.80 which is not that big of a deal. They should have honored what we thought we were getting as I felt it was more of a bait and switch even though the food was very very good. Next year if they participate I hope their deal will be better and worth it. Somewhat disappointing.
Total experience was good but not great, I have been going to Carmine's On Penn since 1996 and since then there have been many versions (Owners, Managers, Chefs, etc.). The food of the current version pales in comparison to the best version, specifically the Shrimp Fra diavolo we always order (not on the menu, special request) and the Cesar Salad, average at best.
Great Italian restaurant. Family style with huge portions for the price. The chicken parm was amazing.
We went for Restaurant Week, and I get that it's busy, and we had very good service and food but it was SOOO loud we literally couldn't hear each other talk. Disappointed!!
We didn’t expect family style ordering for restaurant week. That was disappointing.
It was good. Lots of food for 2. Robert was great.
We were looking forward to dining once again at Carmine’s on Penn as we hadn’t been in a while. We were two couples Who asked the server for separate checks to make it more convenient for us. We were denied and we were told that because it is family style they could not. It was if the have forgotten that they are in the hospitality business and just recited something as opposed to think about our request. We were not even sharing “family” style items. If we were at separate tables the request could be granted.i have never experienced such a ridiculous, inflexible and senseless response. I will never set foot in this restaurant based on the lack of sincere service.
I absolutely love Carmine's! The food is amazing, service is always great, glass is never empty and they answer all the questions you have. They have a Gelato cookie sandwich that is to die for. However, they make them fresh and only have a few each night, if you're lucky enough to get one it is SO YUMMY.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff with delicious food! Appetizers, salads, and entrees were all amazing!
Not the Carmine’s experience I’m used to. Everyone was rushed (and somewhat rude).
Love Carmines on Penn. Chicken dishes are my favorite.
We love Carmine’s. It is always good. Always.
Great food, service and Atmosphere!! Wonderful presentation during Restaurant Week. It was my first time visiting and I'll definitely be back on future visits to Denver.
Even with a reservation, the seating process was disorganized and we had to wait for awhile - no place to wait, so felt like we were in everyone's way. Pasta was good - veal was very tough to chew, which is not what I would expect. Service was very slow. Overall, they didn't seem ready for the crowd and understaffed.
I was able to get at reservation during restaurant week and take a visiting friend to Carmin'es for a leisurely, comfortable, tantalizing and the utmost delicious dinner in a very long time. We never felt rushed, our server; Arthur was very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions on the menu as well as our dinner wines. This will be my 'go to' Italian restaurant. The entire staff ensured we had a fantastic dining experience. Thank you to everyone at Carmine's On Penn.
I thought the sauce was very bland and the chicken was very thick. I wish the chicken would be thiner and a bit more crispy.
It's been a long time since I was last at Carmine's, but it never disappoints. Excellent all the way around!
Had to remind bartender that we ordered drinks 15 minutes ago. Had to ask for bread for our table. Yes busy Saturday night, but when staff is just chatting with other customers very frustrating. The food was DELICIOUS so worth the long wait.
Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere.
Some of the best Italian food in Denver. Very generous proportions and overall great quality.
Anthony “Tony” was amazing and deserves a raise. Will be back because of him
Love this place! Awesome food, great service and lots of memories from our many times here. Great special day place to eat at.
Go early as the restaurant get very busy and loud after 7pm. Great service from the entire wait staff. Everyone is very attentive.
First I want to say Carmine's on Penn was amazing the atmosphere the staff was very friendly our waiter was great on recommending food deserts also the bartender on drinks. me and my girlfriend really enjoyed it and we will be going back thank you so much for an amazing night..
We love Carmine’s on Penn because it is consistently fantastic! For Valentine’s Day they put flower petals down for our meal which was a beautiful touch. The food blows us away every time we go. The food is made fresh with love and has a depth of flavor that makes each bite perfection. We highly recommend the meatballs in vodka sauce. The service was great and our waiter helped us make good pairing choices with food and drinks. 10 stars as always!
We havent been there for a few years. Still an amazing meal and value. Chicken parm is awesome!! We have enough leftorvers for 2 more meals. An amazing value, delicious and great experience.
Food was excellent as usual and our waiter Nate was the best as always! Can’t wait to enjoy carmines again soon!
Carmine's is a friendly neighborhood spot that's been pumping out carbo intensive Italian food for years now. I wouldn't make a trip across town to eat here, but it's a nice amenity for those of us who live close by.
Food and service were excellent. Will return soon. Great Italian
Great all around! We’ll be back!
We hadn't been to Carmine's in years since we moved out of the neighborhood - and were wondering if it was still as good. I'm happy to report it is as wonderful an experience as ever!
Always a good experience at Carmines. Over 20 years of dining. It does seem like the portions are getting a bit smaller.
Wonderful food and wine. The owner even stopped by the table to say hi and see how everything was. We will be heading back soon.
Great place to have a family-style meal! Our server was friendly and made sure we were happy and taken care of. I’ll definitely come back.
The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. That aside, the experience was super disappointing for a place that is supposed to be a Denver institution. Terrible antipasti: almost nothing but bread and deep fried. The cheese and meat were not higher quality than you could get at a grocery store. The tiramisu was also terrible. Portions were huge but that is not a good thing, it’s just a big thing. It’s like time stopped for this restaurant 30 years ago. Would not recommend.
The salad and the Canolis were very good, however, the Chicken Picota was not. The chicken was rubbery and the sauce had too strong of a lemon flavor. It was like a frozen dinner prepared in a microwave.
