   Delicious food HUGE portions. We had reservations for 530 pm Seated promptly. The knowledgeable server steered us to good choices. Veal, spaghetti and meatballs, escarole. Shared desserts. Tiramisu, tortni, Italian style cheesecake. Also... HUGE. Not a place for dining alone.

   If your hungry then theres plenty of food. The noise level was busy but still low enough for you to hear each others conversation. I would recommend Carmines. You are guaranteed a take home bag unless you bring a few people with you for the family style servings

   Food and ambiance was great. Poor service only saw our waiter twice one time for our drink order and second time for our food order. We never got refills on our drinks. However we would go back again

   The waiter we had could’ve been better, we waited about 20/30 min until the waiter came to the table never received any bread, we still left a sizable tip, maybe the guy was just having a rough day

   DELISH!! And so much more enjoyable to navigate than the Times Square location. Worth the short Uber ride from the Met on the UES if you need some old school red sauce Sunday dinner style Italian in your life!

   Emi waited on us and she’s a gem! The food is amazing, 1 salad and 1 pasta for 3 and still got leftovers. Can’t recommend the house white wine enough.

    The dishes were very good. The food was freshly prepared and the service was very good as well. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The pacing of the meal was very good from the delivery of the drinks, salad, main course and dessert. Our server was very attentive and offered great conversation.

    Lack of hospitality from management to staff . The restaurant was not packed 25 minutes passed and no greeting , no water not an ounce of acknowledgment was given . The manager saw my party of 5 leaving and he gave us his back pretending to be busy . Disgusting behavior will never come here again.

    The service was awful ! Did we even have a server? Can't recall since he was missing most of the time. We finally received bread when we were finishing our entree. And it was cold and stale. That is just one of the many things that went wrong with my dining experience here. There is too much to say and not enough room. This restaurant clearly needs new management, period!

    This restaurant gets my Do-Over rating. However, I would try to go earlier and on a weekday. The restaurant was very crowded and noisy with a Sunday evening crowd. The food was much better than I remembered. Everything was VG. We had two salads, two pastas, an appetizer and a dessert. The appetizer, Portobello Parmesan, was the best! The reason I've given the service such a low rating was that they are obviously understaffed. After 20 minutes waiting for someone to come to our table, we asked if anyone had our table. After a shorter wait, we finally had our order taken. Waitress was good but it still took some time to get our drinks - the same was true for our food.

    I always enjoy Carmines. We have been to two in NYC, one in the Bahamas and one in Atlantic City. We feel that it is a great value for the money and the food is always delicious. I do find that the chicken scarpariello is made differently in each Carmine location. Not a big difference, but noticeable. Our waitress seemed to be a bit overwhelmed with the amount of tables she was serving. She forgot our bread and then brought us a basket of bread that was stale. She forgot to bring my husband his beer and delivered it with the check. All in all we enjoyed our visit and will return.

    It is family serving so prepare to order one thing for 3-5 people. The food is really good. This location is quiet at 5-5:45pm on a Friday night. They are welcoming and the restaurant is huge

    Ordered shrimp Parmesan. Very bland with the taste of shrimp nonexistent having been lost in mozzarella and sauce. The sauce was actually cold! First basket of bread was dry and stale returned it and quickly received nice warm, soft bread as it should be. Caesar salad was great for the cost of all the items. I doubt I will return anytime soon. Very disappointing.

    This is my favorite Carmines location and I dine here a few times throughout the year with my most recent visit this past Thanksgiving 2022 (which was fantastic btw) We had a reservation in between closing lunch and setting up for dinner and it seemed like our server wasn’t really that interested in serving us. It took a while to simply get the 2 straws that we asked for, however the bill came faster. Aside from this, the food was perfect as always !

    restaurant is notoriously loud and crowded waiter was very inattentive and service extremely weak food was delicious but portions not generous at all - especially for the price we have been here many times and portions seem to get smaller and smaller

    We went for dinner after my daughters recital at Alvin Ailey. I made the reservation more than a month in advance and they were ready for us when we arrived. When our waitress was on break her relief introduced himself. It was very busy and packed and we had a very big group and whenever we needed something whomever was available helped us right away. The servings were huge. The specials were delicious and the Sangria deserves a chefs kiss. Carmines was part of a wonderful family day.

    Very happy with our meal at Carmines. Perfect for a group late in evening. We ordered less than they recommended and it was plenty! Sharing dishes are huge. Noise is very high and was difficult for one guest who had hearing aids. Eggplant Parmesan was amazing!

    When the restaurant closes Angels come in and make the eggplant parmigiana. There is no other excuse. The portions are huge and the staff warns the tourists and newcomers. Been eating there for decades and it hasn’t lost a step. Best Italian in NYC.

    Carmine’s is always fun, but the food runs salty and sits heavy all night after dinner. The meatballs and lasagna are dense and mushy these days and the meat portions are strikingly small after being presented massive salads and bread plates. Our waitress had lost the balance of sales to actual service, so a table of four was “upsold” a (delicious) platter of a dozen garlic bread slices with cheese that was insurmountable and wasteful before we realized we had to be more “defensive” in further ordering. There was a spectacular food runner who made a real presentation of delivering multiple plates at a time efficiently and we enjoyed his showmanship and style. The Strawberry Shortcake was just bad; dry and flavorless. For us, Carmine’s will be a memorable part of NYC history, but we won’t return again.
