Carmine's - 44th Street - NYC Ratings and Reviews
I am Portuguese and lived in the US a long time ago.
I am a long time fan of Carmine’s an go back every time I go to New York
This last was the first time I was not satisfied with the overall meal
We ordered salmon rare and it was over cooked.
The rest of the meal was pretty good and service was nice and efficient
The place was very nice. I got seated right at the time of my reservation, which I greatly appreciated. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. This place was packed, and after eating my meal I could see why. I will definitely be going here to eat again. Very good celebration dinner place in my opinion. If I could, I would probably eat there everyday.
We ate at Carmines on a Sunday afternoon. Our family of six enjoyed the meal very much. The server did a good job of helping us decide how much food to order for the table. The area we were in was busy and noisy but it did not deter our family. It was a very nice dinner.
No shortage of food. Delicious and full flavors. We had the stuffed artichoke appetizer. Best we’ve ever had. Great for families, especially those who like to share food. Perfect location and ideal for a meal before a show. Definitely get your reservation far in advance.
Great place for dinner before a show. Food is family style, large portions, but the food is so good. Service is friendly and efficient, but not over the top.
If you want to eat here, a reservation is a must, they did not take any walk-ins the night we were there (lots of people were turned away). The wait for the table with a reservation can be a little brutal so do not cut it close. All the food is great. You cannot go wrong with Carmines.
I came here with my boyfriend for dinner before a play, and it was fantastic! we were seated on the second floor in the corner so it was a quiet area. The food was delicious and since it’s family style we had leftovers which lasted for two more meals. We will definitely go back!!
The food at Carmine’s is amazing!! I Walked into the restaurant on time for my reservation and was seated right away. Staff knew the entire menu and gave good recommendation. I Would recommend it to anyone looking to have good food at an authentic Italian restaurant.
My son and I took a birthday trip to nyc and ate lunch at Carmine’s before a show. We had reservations, and the place was wall to wall people, so we were crammed in between 2 tables. Way too close for comfort or ease getting in and out of your seat. The service was not good. I had to ask repeatedly for things before our server remembered, and he hardly ever made eye contact so it was difficult to get his attention. The food was decent but not anything spectacular. All in all, it was an overpriced tourist trap that we would not visit again.
We have been to Carmine’s at least eight other times at different locations over the years The food has always been good so we kept coming back even though we knew it was going to be crowded and extremely noisy. This was the last time. The doormen were so rude that I was completely turned off. Just because they are in touristy, crowded midtown does not give them right to hustle customers out the door like guests who have overstayed their welcome. They were barking at would-be diners with no reservations like they were beggars coming in for a handout. While waiting for the rest of our party to leave after our meal we were herded into a corner and the guy at the door told my husband “screw you” when he complained. A heated discussion ensued where he was told to have some respect. A complaint to the hostess stand staff was pointless. We left with the feeling that because most customers are tourists the staff feels they can get away with anything. Terrible experience.
My daughter and I went to Carmine’s to celebrate her first time in NYC. The service was terrific, the food was delectable and the portions are humongous. Recommend folks make a reservation and definitely not eat before coming here, bring your appetite and then some!! Drinks are deliciously mixed as well. Loved the experience all around.
