Great food and a really good atmosphere
We really enjoyed our dinner at Carmine’s. The food and service were excellent. We’re used to noisy, fun, energetic places so this was not a problem. I wouldn’t say this is a great place for a romantic dinner, however.
But here’s the deal with the portions...
Because the food is served family style, the portions are huge and the amount of food is way too much for two people. And because we basically shared the same dish to make it even reasonable, that meant we couldn’t order what each of us wanted. What we ordered was excellent (chicken parmigiana) but it limited our choices. And what we ordered could have fed four people, no problem. To be fair, they told us that when we arrived so it didn’t bother us. But we essentially paid for four people’s worth of food for two. So for that reason, I lowered the Value rating. But, having said all of that, we also wouldn’t hesitate to go back with a larger party.
Big portions good food
Been to Carmine's on 44th Street many times over the years an have never been disappointed. Always great service and outstanding food. A little noisy, but that is expected. Always a memorable meal
Food was excellent! So much! Waitress was very good
We love Carmine’s we look so forward to it every time ! Best food !!
So much food! So tasty
We never visit Manhattan without having dinner at Carmine’s. The best Caesar Salad and fried calamari in the city. Home cooking with a Southern Italian vibe.
This is a great dining spot for parties and hangouts. One entree was able to feed my group of seven. The service wasn't the best. Our server was attentive up to when the entrees came. When we are done, he was no where to be seen and we had to ask for our check from other servers. To my disappointment, no one brought us our check. We were so tempted to just walk out on them since we asked for our check twice at this point and waited for almost half an hour before our server finally came. We told him that we had already waited half an hour for our check to arrive and his response was "Perfect, I'll get your check for you." I didn't want to tip this service, but ended up tipping about 13% instead.
What a food factory. Awful. Loud, lot’s of muscle on display.
Excellent service, excellent food, speedy, excellent recommendations for food, very accommodating for a large party with last mi Ute reservations, not very noisy and a great time!! Two thumbs up, I’d recommend and I’ll be back!
Wanted and put in my request round table but didn't get . only thing I that was not great .
I was very appauld with the service I received from my server. I'm African American and my server was also African American and I felt racially profiled due to the fact she never offered us any appertizers, made no suggestions on what we could order. She never brought back to our table the bottle of water we requested. The table behind us and next to us they was Caucasian and she offered everything to them because I listened to her. It's very appauling to watch and listened to her be so attentive to other customers and we didn't receive anything to that nature. I will not be coming back to that Carmine's again.
we had three adults and a 1 1/2 year old and our waiter, i think his name was Max was outstanding, very attentive made sure our grandson had a coloring sheet and crayons and kept checking on him the whole meal, we had two plates, one Chicken Marsala and Penne Alla vodka both we great and plenty for the three of us
This was the second time I was there. Didn’t disappoint. Love the fact that I can make a reservation and not be late for my 2:00 show. Food and service was excellent.
We always take time to visit Carmine's when we are in the city. We have loved everything we've tried. The Stuffed Artichoke is one of our favorites!
This restaurant serves family style. If there is only two of you then there is way to much food. The don’t have anything for just two people. So it’s not a date place.
We celebrated our daughter’s Graduation from Marymount Manhattan College. Sam our server was awesome. Te ama ala famiglia. Thank you
Good experience overall. Entrees picked this time were not as good as last visit. Took someone new to the restaurant, so that was a bummer.
Everything was fabulous!!😁😁
After a long wait to be seated we sat at our table WAITING to be given menus and then ignored some more. Then adding insult to injury when our waiter did arrive he went to a table near us, a party of six or seven, whom had just been seated. He ignored us further during the meal many times. After finishing our meal my companion wanted desert but had to forego it because of his inattention and a looming theater time. Very very disappointed.
We did not find our waiter to be that pleasant or kind...his manner seemed a bit haughty...but, the service was good (on time, etc). Also, my chicken grand-mère was delicious but my son's NY Strip steak was rather fatty, so he was a bit disappointed. We don't eat out often like this but overall, it was good.
Great place! Huge tasty dishes at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!
We absolutely love everything about Carmine's - from the limoncello Lemon Drops to the always perfect & satisfying Chicken Parm. Our server this time was from Mississippi but definitely a seasoned New Yorker - loved her dry wit & encouragement to try new things. A trip to the city would not be the same without a stop at Carmine's after the show. Probably the only thing I would change is maybe make it possible to reserve a table upstairs w/the curtains partially draw for a less noisy atmosphere. We had one slightly hearing impaired person in our party & it did impact her enjoyment of the experience not to be able to hear the conversation well. She still loved the food & drinks & it won't stop her from returning, but something to think about!
Totally made our New York City experience memorable. The whole staff was welcoming, funny and warm. The food was outstanding and the portions are huge, I went with my sister and we had a ton left over. Ralph was so funny and sweet and made us laugh the whole time! Will absolutely be coming back the best time we are in the city. Highly highly recommend for an authentic NY feel
Great food and a lot of it for the price in Times Square. Only issue was that it was difficult to get the serve’s attention.
Checking n process was not very service oriented. 7:30 reservation, seated at 8:00. Once we were seated, service and food were food.
Great meal, feels like a place to eat after seeing a lovely broadway show with a friend of yours
Fantastic from start to finish! A classic that stays ahead of its time.
Great food. Service was excellent!
Recommend to all. Get reservations or expect to wait
Best portions and Italian food in NYC. 2-3 people can eat off of one plate.
Carmines is an iconic restaurant. We were not as enamored with the food as in previous visits. Spaghetti was not very hot and watery. The service was so-so. We felt like we were inconveniencing our server if we asked for something. The calamari and chicken parm were very good.
Great food always! Love to go there especially with our whole family.
We were so impressed with them. They held our reservation for 90minutes because our travel was delayed. Such a great experience and place to eat.
The food and the service were both outstanding. We were seated right at the time of our reservation and did not have to rush to make our theatre curtain. Our party was completely satisfied.
Excellent food and service. Make sure you go there very hungry!😁
They have an amazing shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta. Their eggplant is so good also!
The food and service was very good. We weren’t rushed and would go back again anytime.
Excellent choice for hungry folks. Fantastic food and great staff. Can't wait to go again!
