Sergio our waiter was amazing! From start to finish it was a great night,,,, shrimp cocktail were huge and sangria was amazing
Food was excellent. Large portions and good value. Unfortunately, this place is in need of new management and new staff. It is total chaos. Managers no where to be seen, employees wandering around frantically with no intention. Server did not smile once or seemed engaged even the slightest. Biggest root of problem is an archaic queue management system. How about a text when the table is ready? It’d alleviate a lot of the chaos.
Had a pre-show lunch with friends. Josie was our server. She had excellent knowledge of the menu and helped us choose what to have so we had plenty of food but not too much. We had the Carmine's Salad, Penne Vodka and Lemon Chicken. All were delicious and made the perfect sized meal for a party of 5. We'll definitely be back!!
Honeymoon special date
Carmine's has amazing food and I would definitely go back. HUGE portions!
Always great, our waiter Paul was terrific. A really nice guy.
Waiter rushed, had to request plates a few times between apps and dinner. The salad was wilted and sad, great chicken piccata and shrimp scampi has no pasta... interesting but flavor was good. The pasta with broccoli and oil/ garlic has 3 pieces of broccoli... location is everything sometimes.
Food portions are HUGE so come hungry and/or in a group. It would be nice if they offered 1/2 portions.
ALWAYS A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE. FOOD WAS PREPARED AND TASTED PERFECT.
Very Goog! Service great! Goog option for dining!
I love this restaurant. Food is over the top. Very difficult to get a reservation but so worth it.
It was my birthday celebration and As usual the food and service were excellent. Every time we go into the city we try and eat there. We went to see Escape to Margaritaville and it was very entertaining highly recommended
Food was great, as well as the service. Luckily we had reservations, we were there for dinner before an 8pm play, the restaurant was quite busy. We informed our server, and she sped up our service. Love coming here.
Our Experience was fantastic and the food was delicious!
Everything was okay. Service was slow and waiter was not very good. Met our needs for after matinee dinner
Everything was great. We had reservations and were seated quickly. The place was jammed packed! The food was was plentiful and very good. The one thing that could have made it a 10 star review was our waiter and his young helper. Never checked back with us. We had to hunt them down twice for more tea and bread. Also, for the check.
The penne with vodka sauce was outstanding, as were the meatballs. Portions were very generous. Three entrees fed six adults, with a little bit left over. The chocolate bread pudding was enormous and delicious. All six of us shared it. The whipped cream accompanying it was the thickest I've ever had. Five of us shared a generous pitcher of red Sangria. We each had two very full glasses of it. Yummy! Considering the amount of people in the
restaurant, the noise level wasn't bad at all. We were able to converse easily. A fun, satisfying time for us. Feeding six people in NYC for $200.00 was a pretty good deal in my opinion.
The food was excellent and served family style it was just like eating at my Italian grandmother's house on any given Sunday growing up. The atmosphere is casual and the location is great for pre or post theater meals or anytime you're craving Italian. Despite being busy, our server, Nicole, was very attentive and courteous. Overall a wonderful dining experience. Thank you!
It was my best friend birthday the waiter was very attentive and courteous. I will definitely go back.
Had dinner with the whole fam (6 of us) after catching a broadway show... family style italian dining at its best. The chicken parm was awesome and the calamari was too! Hard to go wrong if you are feeding a hungry mob in NYC!! Make your reservations well in advance and make sure your entire party arrives on time. 10 out of 10 recommend!!
Diner and a play
We were not told about the $7.50 bottle of water. My friend ordered a drink, we were not asked if we wanted top shelf liquor. $16 for a small drink!
Great place to eat if dining for 2 or more because the portions are big.
2nd visit and just as impressed as the first time , the Ragu is incredible, packed full of flavour. One of my new eat must' s, I will be recommending to family and friends.
The waiter was fantastic! He told us what he would recommend, when asked, and he was right. He asked if we were local, on business or in town for fun and where we were from. When finding out we were from out of town, he told us about local points of interest that we could visit. The bread served with the meal was delightful and I don't usually eat the bread. The food was very, very good - rather basic Italian fare but the flavor was outstanding! Somebody told us it was loud, busy and we would feel like we were rushed out after dining because they are so busy. This was definitely not the case. Would certainly recommend it and hope to return.
Great food and service. Jacinto took great care to accommodate my husbands gluten-free needs! Leftovers carefully packaged for us to take home. Carmine’s never ceases to shine.
food was fresh and delicious. service was excellent only neg was that there is no elevator to second floor. so not disabled friendly.
Wonderful food, great service, timely experience...we will be back!! Yummy!!
Incredible! Best Chicken Parmigiana that I’ve ever had! Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing! Book your reservation well ahead, it’s worth is and they won’t except walkins on Friday and Saturday.
We had booked two tables for 6 people, one at 8:30 another at 9:00, since we were not sure when our pre-dinner event would finish, nor how many people would actually want to go out to eat. A few of us arrived a bit late for the second reservation (and we had called ahead to warn about being late for the first one) and although we waited a bit, they had a table for 12 people ready for us in within 15 minutes--even though they were packed (on a Friday night in the theatre district). One by one, the others arrived, until our tables were fully populated with hungry folks. In addition, two members of our large and straggling group were ability-challenged--one of them needing a place to put her walker while we ate. NOT a problem, despite the crowded scene, and in fact there was even an entrance with a ramp, so if you were to come in a wheelchair, it would be a cinch to get in and get seated. For all of that we were grateful. But THEN, the food started arriving, and what a delicious surprise! Fresh, well seasoned salad, chicken that melted in your mouth, al dente pasta with delicious sauce and veggies--we were all deeply impressed, and loved the "family-style," share all around portions. So much food came, that we feared we ordered too much--and yet, we seem to have finished it all! Only problem was the noise level, which seems hard to avoid in any restaurant these days, especially one as popular as Carmine's. While this place has been around a long time, its service and the quality of the food has not in any way gone "downhill." We were super happy we chose Carmines for our rather tardy group of poets and writers.
Food was delicious. We went for my daughters 9 birthday. We have visited the Carmine’s in Bahamas as well.
Had the speghetti and meatballs, excellent!!! Will definitely visit again!!!
Amazing food and wonderful experience, we would definitely go back !
We had reservations for six o’clock before a show at the Schubert. The sign on the door said reservations only. After waiting for over 30 minutes for a table, then finding out the family of four eating next to our jammed in waiting spot had just “walked in and got lucky” , we finally got seated after some badgering of the hostess. Barely had time to eat dinner, had to skip dessert and run down the street to make the show on time. If your sign says reservations only, you should heed that. I would estimate there were well over 50 people waiting with us with no room to spare. I only hope all 50 didnt have the same 6pm reservation we had!
Food was great. Staff very friendly. But if you are going to a show allow plenty of time. We make a reservation at 6 and it was a little too close. Might be a little less crazy during the week. Definitely would go back but make an earlier reservation.
Amazing as always. Only wish we lived closer. Always on the top of our list when we come to NYC!
Started out a wonderful dinner and the food was amazing! Our waiter did not check back with us after taking our order and we waited for our check with empty drinks and would’ve loved dessert. Instead we missed out on celebrating my sisters birthday with dessert due to the lack of service from our waiter.
The garlic & oil and Manhattan tasted incredible. Our waitress pretty much ignored us and wasn't overly kind. Perhaps she was gruff because of a tough day or home situation. It just seemed odd that it was a pleasant atmosphere, but she didn't seem to be engaged with that aspect.
We were there 15 mins before our reservation and checked in immediately. Told to wait at bar and names were never called. 45 mins later checked ion table again and they had never even checked us in. Gave us a table immediately but then no server ever came to our table for another 20 mins. Food was great but very disappointed in reservation system and servers.
