Carmine's - 44th Street - NYC Ratings and Reviews
Food was great as usual but server was pretty bad. Never got any bread or offered any unlike all the tables around us. Orders a second Manhattan but never received it. When the bill finally came, they charged me for 2 and he wasn’t too apologetic about it. Maybe saw him 2-3 times our entire dinner. Definitely have not had service that bad before.
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Absolutely recommend making reservations well in advanced. It was well worth it! We made reservations for Carmine's before we booked our trip (approximately 5 weeks early), and only 9:30 and 10pm slots were still available. If you don't make reservations, be willing to wait a while for a table.
Was not impressed. The waiter was forgetful and seemed overwhelmed or distracted. Served kids pasta when meal was almost over. Would not go back. I know it was the Christmas season. made reservation in September, but my table for 8 was so crowded couldn't fit food properly on table, and felt like we were on top of the table next to us.
Only go here if you are with a group of people who can agree on entrees!! Everything comes out in a huge bowl or platter to SHARE! The portions are for 3-4 people or more and the food comes out fast. It is touristy so if you are looking for fine dining, go elsewhere. Everything was good, tho. There's just no reason to ever go back. I like ordering an entree for ONE! We had to throw away 1/2 of the salad b/c only 3 of the 6 of of us wanted it. It was hard to find things that everyone could agree on. Who needs that?
I felt rushed, no sooner did my salad arrive, my main course was at the table as well, since it is family style, by the time I finished my salad my calamari, penne vodka and chicken saltimbocca was cold. not that happy, if I did decide to go back again, I would order salad and calamari first, then put a order in for my main meal so I could enjoy the food and not eat it cold. we also got a pitcher of sangria $54.00. it was good/
Our friends recommended this restaurant and told us to plan on splitting a meal. We made our reservation, and you do need a reservation, and planned our lunch. Upon arriving the staff was very nice and friendly.
Our waiter, Jamie, was awesome! He made a few recommendations and then asked us our preferences regarding Italian fare. When we told him he pointed us to a specific dish and he was spot on. The mixed seafood pasta bowl was plenty for the two of us and was reasonably priced. The taste was over the top.
The wine list at Carmine's is very nice as long as you'd like to purchase a bottle. If you are purchasing by the glass it is somewhat limited.
I highly recommend Carmine's and we will definitely return next time we're in NYC.
