Well worth a visit as part of your New York experience, not the tourist trap you’d expect being in Times Square. Just good food and great staff.

The Chicken Parmigiana was delicious. We added penne noodles to it for an extra $13.50. The portions were huge, perfect for sharing.

On Saturday, July 26, the day before our reserved party of 10 for Sunday, July 27 at 6:30, I came to Carmines and had a nice meeting with Rodney, the manager. I was told we would have the round table in the front. I wanted to preorder and pay in advance. He told me to just pay upon arrival and he put my order in the reservation on the computer. He even gave me a sample check with the tax and 20% tip included. Following the matinee of Purpose, my husband went to pay and request the salads be on the table when the party arrived at 6:30, as this was a surprise for one of the cast members. Knowing how crowded the restaurant gets, I really wanted a smooth arrival. The hosts at the front said they couldn’t do anything till the entire party arrived, and when we did arrive, we were told to wait with the large crowd by the bar. I went to the hosts who said Rodney was already gone and left no instructions or information. The hosts were very busy and very dismissive. I asked for the manager who said our table was being readied. At 6:50, we were taken upstairs to a table for ten, which was not a round table. This meant that we couldn’t all see each other at our table. We waited and asked twice for water, we got bread with no butter and if not for our fabulous waitperson Andre, the evening would have been more disappointing and upsetting than it already was. I took such time and care to set up this surprise dinner party, and it was not what was arranged and promised. The Caesar salad was fabulous, the pasta Marinara sauce was tangy and needed to be sweeter, the chicken Marsala was very good as was the eggplant parmigiana. Cannoli was great and Andre arranged a cheesecake for the table as a “gift” from the restaurant as they knew they did not honor their promise to me. I would not recommend trying to arrange anything in advance as they are not up to the task of being able to follow through or accommodate.

Would love to see a better system after check in. Perhaps divide those with reservations from those who do not. I had a reservation and was system just 5 minutes after my time. Love the service and the food!!!!

Very good food but huge portions so plan your selections carefully. It’s got a classic New York Italian eatery vibe but I understand it’s only been around since 1990. Also, you can dress up, or come in shorts tank top and cap. You’ll see it all here. A bit too touristy if you ask me but it’s solid food and the service is just as solid.

It was fine but they do not adjust the portions if you are only two people. Huge portions that are just ridiculous. Lots of food goes to waste and this is terrible! Any table of only two people I saw a ton of food just go to waste! So many people starving in this world, this amount of waste is just terrible. Only go here if you are at least 6 people.
