Carmen's 2.0 Restaurant & World Tour Menu Ratings and Reviews
Elegant ambience in a beautifully restored historic building. Food and service were superb. Room acoustics were very live, due to hard marble surfaces, so people with hearing deficits may be somewhat hampered in hearing conversation. It was not busy when we were there, so this was not an issue.
Very much enjoyed the wine tasting dinner, the wine was amazing and the four course dinner was outstanding! Our reservations were at 8 and we were seated promptly, only one star lost for ambiance due to the screaming child seated right behind us (curious as to why you'd bring a child that young out so late to an upscale venue). All in all, a great place to have a quiet romantic evening (sans children) 😊
As always the experience was outstanding. We both had the Beef Filet. They were done perfectly, were delicious, and very tender. Sides were great and also done perfectly. Service, as always is the best in town. Frank, Judy & Ed work as a fine tuned team so you are never in want of anything, but without being a bother. This is our favorite local restaurant.
The woman who brought out my food was outstanding. She was very sweet and attentive. The restaurant was empty and the hostess sat me right next to a woman who was coughing. My waiter took quite a while to get over to me. He barely came back to check on me. Not impressed with the service. Ambience is beautiful. Food was fine.
My husband and I took my mother here for the most important day of the year, Mother's Day. What a huge disappointment! No where did it say that our reservation time would only give us a buffet of cold cereal, oatmeal, bacon, sausage, ham and a man making omelets or eggs or a breakfast menu and not the entire buffet. Not even a pastry! Quite the contrary. Last year we went here and although they were totally unorganized and we had to wait 40 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, they had a fabulous buffet and champagne. This year - none of that and the worst service ever from someone who had to be flagged down to ask for coffee, tea and a coke and who never checked back with us until she walked by and dropped the check on the table without so much as asking if we wanted anything else. Thank goodness for the young man cleaning our dishes away because he brought us refills and had a great personality. Will I entrust this restaurant for any other occasion? Absolutely not, but looking at other reviews, it doesn't appear that they care. That's too bad because this was Mother's Day. They should care.
My husband and I went to Carmen's 2.0 right before we went to see a show at the Scranton Cultural Center. It was our first time there, and we loved it! The food was excellent. We especially appreciated the historical charm. The murals on the wall which depict the scenes from the railroad route were definitely special. I highly recommend Carmen's. You will not be disappointed.
The service at Carmine's was very good. The waiter asked if we would like some time to enjoy our cocktails while we decided on our dinner, which was very nice. The Decor was very pretty , but was in the lobby of the hotel. We ordered the tuna special and the duck special. Both dishes we not very good. The duck was three pieces with thick fat on the duck and the risotto was under cooked. The gnocchi was very good as was the calamari appetizer.
My wife and I went for an early valentine brunch at 11:00 am on Sunday. The staff was fantastic very friendly. The food was outstanding everything fresh and hot. The selections were a good mix of breakfast and lunch but they didn't have any pancakes or blintzs. Although the service and food were very good it seemed just a little overpriced.
We have made it a yearly event to travel 2 1/2 hours to Scranton to have brunch at Carmen's and then see a show at the Scranton Cultural Center. We recommend it to all of our friends because it is well worth the drive. The brunch buffet is fantastic and we can't wait to do it again next winter!
Beautiful building with plenty of history but that is where the positives stop. Food was below average for a brunch for two that cost $65. Omelette station was manned by an employee that made it clear she would rather be anywhere else and the rest of the presentation was poor.
We went here for a holiday dinner and it was very good. We were more impressed with the wine list. A lot of good options, and very reasonable prices on some of the bottles. The ambiance is what you should go for. The restaurant is in the lobby of the hotel, and has beautiful architectury. We really enjoyed this and will go back again.
was our 25th wedding anniversary and also Christmas. We asked for a cake and romantic table and had reservations. We were aced I. A back room after a 40+ min wait. Buffet food was old and cold. Waited 15 min for water, glasses removed from table while serving self, no cake, not finished with dinner or serving self and check placed upon table, wait staff noisy and making lots of noise while cleaning other tables, playing guns and roses not Christmas music or holiday or romantic. My anniversary dinner was ruined and a waist of money. I went home to cook after waisting 120$. And being upset by staff, and rude customers sitting on top of us as we were squashed in between two 8 top tables. Then gratuity was included for horrible service that was lacking and we were basically forgotten. Do not go. I have been before and it was poor but this was something I will never forget. Simply horrible for a major event in my life.
Food was better this year. Seafood bar was great! Loved the shrimp, crab shooters and the whole salmon! Loved the turkey at the meat carving station! However the beef was extremely tough. Sides were ok/good with the exception of the haluski which was very bland. Need to lose the eggs Benedict potato pancake - AWFUL! Egg was rock hard and hollandaise was nasty. Do not understand why restaurants think that eggs Benedict is an acceptable item for buffet - holding time in a chafing dish destroys whatever beautiful version your chef creates in the kitchen. ThIs is a made to order item! Pasta bar was unappealing and did not waste my calories on trying it. The make to order chef was not at the station whenever I went up. Dessert bar was disappointing - not kept stocked. Of what I could sample, only the rice pudding was good. Napoleons were soggy, lobster claw filling was dull and fake - not true pastry cream filling (sorry but spoiled by Philly Italian bakeries on this delicacy). Service started out great but got worse after initial seating. Plates were not cleared in a timely fashion (we had to stack our used plates in the middle of the table). Refills on drinks had to be requested several times before brought to the table. Both of our servers were inattentive and diffIcult to find when service was needed.
Went for Sunday brunch. Overall the food was good but many items were running low when we were there (which was at noon) and was not replaced very rapidly. Also, the champagne was very cheap champagne which could have been much better. The quantity of food was very high but again when items were running low it made the presentation less than appetizing.
The pasta dishes were cold when delivered. My angle hair pasta with shrimp was undercooked cold and over spiced. The spaghetti was clumped Together. So much so I had to return it. The wine was served in not your typical wine glass. I guess they only had so many to give out since the next table had regular wine glasses
Came for Thanksgiving dinner, and was very dissatisfied. The wide variety of options provided in the buffet style service looked great, but were not hot or flavorful. The only items that were passable were the turkey and the sweet potatoes. Soup was bland and lukewarm, shrimp cocktail slimy , beef over cooked, desserts dry and bland. The only passable dessert was the chocolate moose. Sorry we were taken in by the lovely decor and location.
We enjoyed the ambiance and immense thanksgiving buffet! The food was good, but the service was excellent. The host noticed that we had our infant son with us, and sat us right away at a good table worth spare room for his car seat. We really enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner!
Went for THanksgiving Buffet. It was really well done and service and food was great. The cost was well worth it - especially considering it was for thanksgiving and it allowed for a no stress dinner with the extended family. It was also the first time my mother (age 92) agreed it was too much work for her to host thanksgiving after all the years - she loved it.
Will certainly be back.
