It was wonderful! Frank was amazing as always and the food and bloody Mary’s were on point! Always a great choice
Carmen’s is a true hidden gem of Scranton. We came in for the First Friday Wine Tasting menu. From start to finish, the experience was top-notch and it was a great spot to have dinner with friends. Very extensive drink selection. Our servers, Frank and Judy, were very attentive and anticipated our needs throughout the meal. I really appreciated the manager Adam coming to check on us a few times as well- it showed the excellent level of service. The restaurant was very busy, but you never would have noticed because each course was served with perfect timing. I can’t say enough how amazing the food was. It was contemporary and well-executed, each course was better and better! The menu is very creative and made it hard to pick what to have. Hats off to the Chef de Cuisine Chris J and his team for a wonderful meal and experience, I can’t wait to go back!
I have dined several times at Carmens but this time was an absolute disaster. We had confirmed reservations for my family for an Easter brunch at 3:30 p.m.. We arrived at 3:15 p.m. to find a line of close to forty people waiting to be seated, some of them with reservations for 2:30 p.m. There was no one at the maitre'd station to answer questions. One person in line said that a staff member had informed them that the restaurant had over-booked and that combined with too few staff had led to the delay.
When the maitre'd was able to return to the station (he was out on the floor busing tables) he was unable to give me any estimate of how long it would be before we could be seated. I informed him that I and another membr of my party were not able to stand for great lengths of time and his only suggestion was that I go and see if there were any seats in the adjacent bar.
Needless to say, this was quite unacceptable and we left. Our Easter celebration was ruined.
I have written a complaint to the restaurant directly but as yet have had no response.
Easter Sunday with famil
Easter Brunch.
Every one was nice, but SundayBrunch was not well executed. Chafing dishes with sternos too small keep the food warm. Salad dressings without signage. Salty gravy. Saving grace - the staff and the dining room. But the food needs to be elevated to make this place great.
Out for our anniversary and wanted to try something close to home yet different from what we’ve done before. Food was delicious, service was outstanding! Would definitely go back again for any occasion!
Lovely place for a dinner prior to show. Really enjoyed the evening and the shuttle to and from our show was fantastic!
Its been a long time since we've been to the Radisson and we forgot how beautiful the architecture is. The restaurant was very good, the service was great and the ambiance was nice and quiet so we could talk and enjoy the evening.
The only thing that could have increased my experience was perhaps a piano player or other entertainment. I definitely recommend it and will be going back as soon as we can.
It was noisy when we first arrived. There was a wedding cocktail hour. The manager assured us it would be quiet soon . He was right. We felt very welcome and were told there was a special menu for the theatre that night. Worked for us!
Excellent waitstaff. The lobby is the old train station and has the original marble . There was music playing but we could still have a conversation. The tables are not too close together so we did not feel crowded.
We had a limited menu but everything on it is also on the regular menu. Very original and delicious.
We plan to go back.
Reservations were not really needed as there were very few people in the restaurant. Our waiter was nice and attentive. However, the over all service was slow. It had taken quite a bit of time for our meal to come out. The food was good, but nothing really special. The reason we had dinner here was because it was in the Scranton Lackawanna Station. And I really like trains and the history behind them.
We went on Valentines day. Our meal was great, the issue was with the service. We have been there in the past and never had any issues but this night was different. I don't know if our server has never waited tables before or accustom to a different place. She was not that good. She was slow and had difficulty with the limited menu that the offered for Valentines day.
My husband and I were in Scranton for a weekend event and had our Valentine's dinner at Carmen's 2.0 while we were in town. The restaurant area is incredibly beautiful and the food was delicious. Great service as well. Everything was just perfect.
We went for the 4 course wine paired menu. The portions were extra small and 3 of the four dishes were un imaginative and reminiscent of 3 star restaurant food. However, the service was excellent, being both appreciate in frequency timing, and servitude. But the killer reason to go is the environment, marble, wood, huge domed ceilings and stained glass. Don't kid anybody, we go because it is in the historic beautiful train station. I just wished the food measured up. It could really be special there.
We have been going to Carmen's on for New year Eve Dinner for 4 years. This was the most disappointing. Comparing to previous years, The menu selections were not special (basically regular menu), the food that was served was not up to the standards of a regular meal at Carmen's. The service was great, as always. We dine here often during the year, but this time is was very disappointing. It makes us ponder if the quality is degrading and if we want to continue to frequent this site during the year. Too Bad. I is a beautiful place that used to serve good food.
Although our server was excellent, she was stations at two areas on opposite ends of the restaurant and had to run back and forth, so was unable to give us her fullest attention. We had to wait at least 25 minutes to be seated even with a reservation. The food at the buffet was just so so. We may look for another location for next years Christmas dinner.
We truly love Carmens but the buffet items could have been better--buffalo penne pasta was awful as was the beef tips--very dry and it should have been beef in a an au jus would have been much better--desserts were not good at all.........
the place was empty. no one to seat you. the place was beautiful, service was ok, and food was pretty good.
Wonderful staff, great service and excellent pasta entrees. The staff was very apologetic for not notifying us that a wedding reception was holding a cocktail hour adjacent to us during the first half-hour of our meal, but ultimately the experience at Carmen's made up for that minor mistake. Love the historic building and our wait staff was fantastic.
Limited menu. If nope for the specials, it would have been difficult to find a satisfying meal. Do not go by the menu on the web site. It is ugh more limited.
food was cold, small portions and dry... wine was awful for a "wine pairing" dinner... $5 jug wine that was old and musty.
Wait staff was wonderful and totally enjoyed brunch selection.
The food, service, and presentation were excellent. The staff was friendly and were diligent in making sure the table was clean and we had what we wanted.
Elegant ambience in a beautifully restored historic building. Food and service were superb. Room acoustics were very live, due to hard marble surfaces, so people with hearing deficits may be somewhat hampered in hearing conversation. It was not busy when we were there, so this was not an issue.
The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. I felt like I was in a top notch restaurant in New York city.
Very much enjoyed the wine tasting dinner, the wine was amazing and the four course dinner was outstanding! Our reservations were at 8 and we were seated promptly, only one star lost for ambiance due to the screaming child seated right behind us (curious as to why you'd bring a child that young out so late to an upscale venue). All in all, a great place to have a quiet romantic evening (sans children) 😊
Excellent service. Willing to accommodate special requests. Very tasty food of highest quality.
We went for the First Friday Wine Tasting Dinner. Chefs Chludzinski and Jordan put together a creative menu that was paired with two lovely California wines. We will definitely plan to go again in the future.
Excellent food, service & portions - especially the half portions. Love the artisan bread.
As always the experience was outstanding. We both had the Beef Filet. They were done perfectly, were delicious, and very tender. Sides were great and also done perfectly. Service, as always is the best in town. Frank, Judy & Ed work as a fine tuned team so you are never in want of anything, but without being a bother. This is our favorite local restaurant.
Great place. We love it here and the staff is outstanding. We go here about once a month.
Fabulously fabulous
The woman who brought out my food was outstanding. She was very sweet and attentive. The restaurant was empty and the hostess sat me right next to a woman who was coughing. My waiter took quite a while to get over to me. He barely came back to check on me. Not impressed with the service. Ambience is beautiful. Food was fine.
Overall the food was good. I was disappointed with the French toast it was a bit stale and the whipped cream was empty. Also the price was pretty steep. For 4 people with a generous tip it was almost $160.00.
My husband and I took my mother here for the most important day of the year, Mother's Day. What a huge disappointment! No where did it say that our reservation time would only give us a buffet of cold cereal, oatmeal, bacon, sausage, ham and a man making omelets or eggs or a breakfast menu and not the entire buffet. Not even a pastry! Quite the contrary. Last year we went here and although they were totally unorganized and we had to wait 40 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, they had a fabulous buffet and champagne. This year - none of that and the worst service ever from someone who had to be flagged down to ask for coffee, tea and a coke and who never checked back with us until she walked by and dropped the check on the table without so much as asking if we wanted anything else. Thank goodness for the young man cleaning our dishes away because he brought us refills and had a great personality. Will I entrust this restaurant for any other occasion? Absolutely not, but looking at other reviews, it doesn't appear that they care. That's too bad because this was Mother's Day. They should care.
No one at entrance to welcome diners.
Private, loud catered event in other half of small dining room.
Phone continuously ringing unanswered.
One entree good. Second entree unlike description. Unappetizing color. Sent back.
Service great!
Beautiful building!
Food is not fresh, not used to paying double for half the quality, food not prepared properly. Service was forced, are not properly trained for upscale restaurants.
My husband and I went to Carmen's 2.0 right before we went to see a show at the Scranton Cultural Center. It was our first time there, and we loved it! The food was excellent. We especially appreciated the historical charm. The murals on the wall which depict the scenes from the railroad route were definitely special. I highly recommend Carmen's. You will not be disappointed.
Good buffet selection but overpriced.
The service at Carmine's was very good. The waiter asked if we would like some time to enjoy our cocktails while we decided on our dinner, which was very nice. The Decor was very pretty , but was in the lobby of the hotel. We ordered the tuna special and the duck special. Both dishes we not very good. The duck was three pieces with thick fat on the duck and the risotto was under cooked. The gnocchi was very good as was the calamari appetizer.
