Carlyle Club Ratings and Reviews
Overall our experience at the Carlyle Club was very good. The food was excellent, we were seated in a timely fashion and our food came out quickly and was well prepared. The band was playing some very nice jazz music and the noise level wasn't too high. Overall a great place for a romantic dinner with a special someone. The only complaint was with the server. While very nice he was quite forgetful, I never received a refill of my water glass even though I asked twice and served desert without silverware so we had to stare at it a while before we could eat it.
This was my first time at this restaurant and absolutely love it. Service was very friendly and food was great. Having live music was an added bonus. We ordered the filet and the lamb – both were cooked as ordered and both very tasty. The lobster bisque is to die for.
Dinner was yummy but the highlight was the live music. We all enjoyed our dinners, crab cakes and lobster bisque. A perfect ending was the key lime pie!! We had a very nice gentleman playing piano, taking requests and very receptive to playing all kinds of music. Enjoying live music while we ate was really fun!! We will be back!!
Beautiful supper club, top notch musical entertainment, for adults, jazz trios, bands w/singers, fabulous food...best lobster bisque ever, beautiful bar. valentines day had 2 seatings. We were late seating at 8:45. Curtain on stage closed and canned music on ..spoke to couple next table who had earlier seating...said they felt rushed and no time to dance to trio but twice after dinner because trio quit...they didn't want their food to get cold so waited to dance. Then they left. The trio didn't come back until nearly 9pm . We danced twice between courses. 10pm the trio quit, began to pack up! We clapped until they decided to play 1 more. 20 couples got up and danced. Fri evening Valentines Day celebration ended at 10:30pm!
I thought with a "Thursday Night Date Night w/ Jazz" would be a fun & relaxing way to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately I was wrong. There were just the two of us in our party & there were probably no more than a dozen tables booked for the evening. When we arrived there was no hostess to greet us, had to go to the bar to get the attention of the bartender to seat us (3 patrons in the bar). Once we were seated they rushed to have us place our order & when my entree came there was no follow up by the wait staff. I had to go to the bar 20 min later & ask for my Delmonico steak to be returned to the kitchen as it was over cooked (table next to us had to send their lamb chops back for the same reason). Finally, were rushed to pay the check.
We sat close to the stage where a jazz band played. A few couples danced and it was a nice atmosphere. Downside is the tables were too close so we couldn't really have a private conversation, and the table itself was too small so there was very little room on the table for our plates. I don't remember what we ate, but do recall the food was good and prices were reasonable for Valentines Day.
Perfect noise level with jazz trio not too loud for talking during dinner, but perfect for entertainment and dancing. The filet mignon was delicious! Skirt steak in the Taste of Havana was not very good. We wished they had a wider menu with more vegetable side dish options, but I would go back to get that filet!
We went to Carlyle Club during Alexandria restaurant week so I have no comparison to other nights. But the service was great and the love jazz band added a wonderful vibe. The food was very good, standard fare, nothing incredibly out of the ordinary. I had the lobster bisque with field mignon and cheesecake for dessert. The steak was cooked more rare than medium rare but overall was a great cut of meet. The cheesecake was very tasty and included a strawberry sauce. Overall it was a very enjoyable evening and I'd definitely recommend for a special occasion or nice dinner out.
Husband and I had a really nice night at Carlyle Club's restaurant week. Food was good - nothing great, but good. Wine list was small, but had some unique bottles. They were out of several we tried to order, though (on a Friday; hopefully they got a shipment on Saturday morning for the balance of the weekend). Service was incredibly slow, but very courteous. In looking around, it seemed like there fore 4 waiters for the entire restaurant, so that combined with us not being in a rush, kept us relaxed and happy.
The pianist was quite lovely - a really nice way to have an evening out with some light entertainment. Could be fun with a band, although not sure I need to eat here again.
I made a dinner reservation at the Carrlyle Club to celebrate my husband's 52nd Birthday. Needless to say, when we arrived, there was no one at the front desk, so we had to wait about 5 minutes until a young lady arrived at the desk with a plate in hand. Once we were shown to our seats the service and dinner experience was nice. Before exiting the resturant, I wanted to have a picture taken with my husband and I with my cell phone. Of course, the same young lady was no where to be found. I took a chance, and knocked on the coat room door, only to have another young lady and the front desk girl (sitting on the floor with another plate eating). My only complaint is the unprofessionalism of the front house staff. Other then that, nice plac
We had a reservation for 7 PM (an early seating. No one was at the reservation desk. We, along with another party waited 5 minutes until someone finally escorted us to a table. We immediately were served bread, butter and water."Great start",I thought, as many restaurants wait too long to bring anything to the table! But it was an allusion! The receptionist placed us at a table next to a large group, who, unfortunately was also our waiter. This is management issues, as the waiter couldn't handle both parties. Our food was average.I ordered salmon w/extra sauce & my companion had crabcakes. Hers was fine, mine was cold. The veggies were unequally sauteed ( some cooked properly, some not). All in all, not a good experience & would NOT return!
Last time we were here, there was an amazing jazz band. This time, we had a pianist. No matter what the entertainment for the night, this is a great place, with great food, and will offer you hours of time to enjoy with your co-diners.
Give yourself time to enjoy the show, and the meal.
The Food was great for resturant week and the portions was plenty. The staff was professional and kind. I recommend this resturant for people that is looking to take out their friends or significant other for a romantic evening or to celebrate a special occasions. The jazz music playing in the background is uplifting. The pianist Brenda definitley put me to sleep. But I heard from others that jazz night is great! Classy, upscale, clean....I rate this resturant a 10+ on service.
I am new to Alexandria and overheard some strangers talking about this 1930's supper club with dinner and dancing. Having a love for Frank Sinatra and MadMen I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the red carpet and full art deco venue! The entire experience was charming with tasty food and talented muscians. I can't wait to see their 2013 show calender!
There has been some buzz about the Carlyle Club so we decided to give it a try. My wife and I went to the Luther Vandross Christmas Show and were quite impressed. We enjoyed the lambchops and all the holiday decorations. It was romantic, fun and unique. I recommend it for any date night or evening out.
The Carlyle Club is absolutely amazing! My husband and I have been several times and we love the intimate setting and art deco ambiance. They bring in a wide variety of music from jazz to r&b and the dinner menu is delicious. I highly recommend the crab cakes! If you are looking for a fun date night or need a venue to celebrate a birthday or wedding go here!
Worst dinner experience in my life! I had to return 3 times my plate because it was cooked incorrectly. My wife had to return her margarita two times because it was terrible. I asked for a little lemon juice and I got lemon liqueur!!! The manager did not handle very well the situation. At the end if this nightmare, I gave my credit card to the waiter, I just wanted to leave this place. They were taking to long and when I asked what was happening, they brought again the check!!! I told the manager I had already handed it to the waiter. They assured I didn't do it!!!! After half an hour of dealing with this incompetent people, miraculously the card appeared somewhere on the floor where the waiter had never gone through! Terrible place!
Our group of four enjoyed a prix fixe menu during Restaurant Week featuring a delicious salad of greens, apples, walnuts with raspberry vinaigrette, choice of entree - filet mignon, salmon, butternut squash ravioli or others - cheesecake, summer berries or warm brownie/ice cream desserts all accompanied by the delightful music of The Satin Doll Trio. A lovely evening!
Carlyle Club is a restaurant that feels like it has pasted it's prime in the kitchen. My Taste of Havana steak was ordered to be medium but came out very rare. My friend ordered the same and it was also rare. My husbands prime rib was cooked to order and tasted pretty good. My friend's husband's prime rib tasted like meatloaf and was over salted. Each course had an issue. My husband's wine order was wrong for the first course, our meat was not good for our main course, and we didn't have flatwear when our dessert was served. Our waiter handled all of the errors very well, but it wasn't a smooth service. The live jazz music was nice and is the only reason I think the dinner wasn't a total waste. Been there, done that, probably won't again.
I went for valentine's day with me,my husband,my siter and her husband. We had an awesome time. Very romantic place to dine. The ambiance was great and the servie was outstanding. Even though it was valentine's day I felt like it was all about us and we not pressured to hurry up because they wanted to seat the next patron. It was also not overbooked. Moderate crowd.I also loved the band. Jazz mostly played which we enjoyed
We had a wonderful time at Carlyle Club, a wonderful throwback establishment with incredible attention to detail all throughout. The bar was fun and cool, the music entertaining, the food excellent, the prices reasonble, the service friendly. My wife felt like we were on a throw-back movies set. We went on V-day and they had a special deal, were ready for business. Go there and fill those tables!!!
We made reservations at the Carlyle club on the spur of the moment last Friday night. The fabulous hubcaps were the headline entertainment and believe me - of it weren't for this caliber of performer at the "art deco" dinner club, all one would hear would be crickets - and the grumbling pf thr bumbling, stumbling, and rumbling service staff. As a couple, we're were seated at a table for 4 when 2 other tables - fit for two were available. No problem - said the hostess - who cleared the remaining two place settings but left the filled water glasses - in case we got thirstier. 5 minutes later - well befor out waiter awoke - a second hostess - I use the term loosely- seated a second couple ( very nice) and told us the first girl "screwed up."
