Carlo & Johnny Ratings and Reviews
Service was very slow. We were there almost 3 hours to eat dinner. Server was very friendly and excellent at his job. Just way to long to spend for a meal. We were shown to our table at our reservation time, but it was nearly 30 minutes before we ordered our meal and it took an hour to get our food from the time we ordered to get our meal. The food was excellent and we were given a free piece of cheese cake for my birthday, but this hardly made up for a 3 hour meal time.
Went for special birthday celebration just 4 of us. Have always loved the restaurant. Three out of the four meals were horrible. Two of us ordered the grouper in which our server raved about. It was so fishy and served over bed of sliced raw green onions. Honesty a McDonald's filet of fish would have tasted better. Another guest ordered the short ribs. The ribs were full of fat also almost not edible. We did share two sides of mac and cheese and grilled vegetables we only ate small amount of those too due to the taste. We were asked how our meal was several times and we felt bad complaining but did say fish was not good. That was taken off bill which was nice. However evening was ruined there was not one thing about the food we would ever go back for. Service was great and ambiance but certainly not worth the money.
As usual C&J is close to perfect .... our only, slight complaint is that the blackened strip steak was seasoned with too much salt .... next time I"ll ask for no, added salt in the seasoning.
Waiter & servers were wonderful. Drinks were better than most . Food was over-the-top.
Go to other steak houses .... then go to one of JR's locations .... there is a difference.
We have enjoyed C&JS many times, tbis time our server seemed over booked, I waited 20 minutes for drink refills both times. Very disappointing. After bill was brought to our table we felt like we were being rushed out the door. Not very enjoyable when fine dinning
Great food, Dan our server and assistant Josh did a fabulous job. Dan was very personable and really cared that we enjoyed our meal. Food was at the right temperature. Prawns very fresh. Freddie salad delicious. They were very accommodating in splitting our meal for us. This is always a wonderful experience but Dan was the best server we have had there.
We go to CJs about every other month. The food is always excellent. A little pricey, but the steak is one of the best in town. The sides are so-so, some might expect more for a pricey/high-end steakhouse. The guys at the valet station always remember us and are awesome. We sat in the back room which is a little chilly being next to outdoor patio at this time of year. Service was so-so this evening. Think the server had too many tables (or we assume), as he forgot things often and it was tough to get him to concentrate on us (forgot bread, feel like we had to force our dinner order on him, forgot lemons, didn't come back to check on us at various points, forgot it was a birthday and didn't recognize as they usually do, forgot to confirm no green beans until the food came out). We've had him before and he's a nice guy, but possibly a busy night. Lobster bisque was too salty --- wish they would add the Habanero tomato soup back to menu and white truffle cream corn (which seems "out of season" at different seasons each year). Also annoyed open table was informed we did not fill our table when we were actually there. Just another confirmation I had to do which wasted my time. Overall, we love CJs and will be back, but this night was not our favorite experience.
I was so excited for my boyfriend and I to have a nice date night out and I was highly disappointed in the food this time . The service was wonderful . Our steaks were awful . I sent mine back , which the manager did make it right . I ended up taking it home . My boyfriend did not want to say anything about his , but mine was originally burnt and his was basically mooing . I had been there one other time and the food was great . This time I however was not impressed at all . Our bill was 187 dollars and that was not including the tip . Very poor experience I must say .
Another top-notch dining experience at Carlo & Johnny. We dined recently on New Year's Eve. Although the menu was limited that evening, everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. Wonderful wine list -- never disappoints. There's nothing quite like a Jeff Ruby steak to end one year and start another!
My boyfriend took me to Carlo and Johnny's to celebrate my birthday. It is one of my favorite restaurants and we celebrated there last year too. The service is top notch and the food excellent. We ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked exactly like we ordered. Everything was perfect, from our drinks to our dessert. Since it was my birthday, I received a piece of cheesecake and it too, was delicious. Will definitely be back, but hopefully I will not have to wait until my next birthday!!
My wife and two daughters and I went to Carlo and Johnny's for the first time this week. Three of us ordered filets and the other ordered the spinach tortellini. All meals were phenomenal, and the service was even better! We felt like we were truly being looked after by an entire team of people and not just our server. Ambience was very nice. I would definitely recommend to a friend, and plan to take my family back many times.
The food was excellent but the restaurant was loud. It seems they go "energetic" during the holiday season. We were at a table next to a major artery which became unsettling. If I'm going to pay this much for food I want my surroundings to be more peaceful. The service was top notch.
This is an expensive, quality restaurant and worth every penny! Our waiter was great. He was fun and interacting, but not overbearing. The service was excellent. the food is simply amazing at any Ruby restaurant. We were at the Precinct early December with one son and daughter-in-law to celebrate a birthday. we took our other son and daughter-in-law to Carlo and Johnny's when they came in for Christmas. A Jeff Ruby restaurant is our favorite by far and the steaks and service is simply wonderful.
