Early last Sunday evening, with only one other table occupied, it took over 1-3/4 hours for our entrees to arrive. We entered an empty restaurant, ordered in good time and then waited. Appetizers took about half an hour to arrive. When we asked what was taking so long, all we were told was they were having trouble in the kitchen. Two members of our group had to leave after an hour and a half to get to an event. Eventually, the owner/manager (he never introduced himself or apologized for the delay) offered us complimentary dessert. Nobody wanted it. When the bill arrived, he’d made no allowance for the wait. When we registered our displeasure, he said we hadn’t told them we were in a hurry. We hadn't been until it took so long to get our food. We paid the full bill. And, now, we’ll never go back.

We are always looking for a quiet place with great service and great food on a Saturday Night. Unfortunately, Carino did match our expectations for ambiance and service, but not the food. It was only mediocre. I would love to come back if the food got better.

We recently went to this restaurant for our daughters birthday. The Owner Desiree was an absolute sweetheart along with the waitress. We enjoyed everything about the restaurant. and will return. For anyone who looks at the menu can see that they have just about everything, down to Cheeses and Breads from Arthur ave.. . If they don't have what you like I'm sure they will make it for you. Please give it a try and enjoy.

Carino on 2nd has been a neighborhood institution for 35 years although I visited it for the first time this week. I will be back very soon. Having been raised in a Sicilian household I first look for some of the dishes prepared by my Mother and Grandmother whenever I visit a new Italian restaurant . At Carino I found my "holy grail" of pasta dishes, Pasta Chi Sarde, bucatini with fresh sardines, fennel, pine nuts and raisins. Not only is it available, it is delicious. If you are hungry and anywhere near the Upper East Side, get to 2nd Avenue and 88th Street and enjoy a wonderful seafood, veal or chicken dish.

Came here on Saturday after the BF said he found a "new" restaurant in the neighborhood. It turns out, it has been around for decades and has quite an interesting past, told to us by the vibrant and personable owner Desiree. The location was recently renovated and it is beautiful, not too big, with exposed brick and tasteful decor. We ordered a stuffed artichoke, done to perfection, I had a pasta dish made with chicken and, as they are fine tuning the menu, I suggested to Desiree that they add more veggies. The BF had calamari in red sauce and the dish was delsh. The service was attentive & friendly, much appreciated. Great drinks, a healthy wine pour and an overall lovely experience. Highly recommend, we will definitely be back!

I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
