Carinis la conca d'oro
To begin, the food was excellent!
We ordered egg plant strips and got the wrong egg plant appetizer. We got no soup spoons with our soup or butter for our bread and had to basically get them ourselves. We waited an inordinate amount of time for our meals. The pizza was supposed to have no tomatoes but did! When we got the bill we asked to see the manager who tried to explain away the problems but offered no reduction in our bill. She eventually credited us the cost of the pizza but offered us nothing else. Ugh!!!
Continued high quality food that is consistent with every visit! Attentive service with great desserts!
Perfect as always, goob drinks, good service and good food.
Perhaps the food was just not for us...the staff was friendly and courteous. The waitress did take a while to come back to us while we observed her returning to tables that already had their food. She asked us if we needed a few more minute, then didn’t return for another 20-25 minutes. We had been seated for about 40ish minutes before we actually ordered our entree. Roughly 20 minutes later, we received our entrees. (The soup “Italian Wedding” they served us was tasteless and the noodles(?) were practically dissolving in my mouth.) My partner is never one to complain about meals, but simply could not finish his small portion of cod.
The “baked” cod was very soggy and dry. Not to mention, the plate was comically large and dotted with some green tidbits as if to mimic a full plate. (All while being served a portion of pasta with a sauce - which my partner complained lacked any taste other than that of a plain and mashed tomato.) Yes, the plate itself had collected a small puddle, but my partner observed the actual cod itself may have been over cooked or must have had some mild form of freezer burn before being baked to get that extremely chewy/rubbery texture.
My pasta itself was doused in Alfredo sauce and tasted as if it had been smoked prior to being served. I didn’t enjoy the taste much, but the manager on duty was very kind about our honest review on their food. She took the cod and back and offered to fry another cod for my partner, but at this point our appetite was spoiled. She was kind enough to take the cod off the bill and we’re very grateful for that.
At the end of the ordeal, we simply paid our meal and left. The food was just not for us! We may come back some time for pizza (as most of the positive reviews mentioned) but we’d skip on the dinner portion.
Excellent service. Very good food.
Have been there three times in last month..love food, atmosphere, service etc..Pasta sauce great. There was a bit too much garlic for friend who is allergic to it. Next time, she would ask before ordering. ,
The Carini Family and their staff are excellent at all they do. Food, service, ambiance cannot be beat.
Pizza was fantastic. We also had a chicken dish which was just ok. Would rather have gotten another pizza instead
Consistently great food. Take advantage of half price wine bottles in Sunday
The food is really good but our service was so bad it was comical. I've never had such a dumb waitress.
Food and service very good. Menu selections plentiful. Prices reasonable for the area. Special the night we were there, 1/2 price on a bottle of wine.
Seated promptly. Waitress came immediately with menus, and took our drink orders. The women wanted wine, but uncertain about which one, so the waitress brought samples. Salads were fresh and crisp. Dinners were then served, and were delicious and more than adequate in size. Finally, desserts were the perfect ending to four quality meals. We’ll be back!
The service was terrific but the food was just ok. I got the "world famous" rack of lamb. I am a huge fan of lamb so I was excited to try it. The flavor was bland, they were fatty cuts and the mashed potatoes had a weird texture. Overall just not worth the price point of $50. My wife licked the pasta and the portion size was perfect for her. Great atmosphere but parking on a Saturday night kinda sucked. Our waitress was awesome. Great personality and got us everything we needed - very attentive and great timing.
For a great Sicilian/Italian dining experience, I would suggest Carini's. Make sure you go a little early to find a place to park, otherwise you will need to find a municipal lot and walk.
The food and service was absolutely exceptional! I would definitely recommend to anyone. The dress and atmosphere was casual, good for a family night out.
Food was very good but service was slow
Very good food. Good friendly service. Nice place. I’ve been driving past this place for years. Glad I finally stoped in.
We were in a small side room that defently had too many tables for such a small space and made the noise bounce around. The food was cooked well but seemed a bit under seasoned, the antipasta plater was amazing though. Server was good but rushed us through. Over all ok and would give it another shot
We booked reservations last minute on a Fri. night....got in, attentive waite staff, food was out standing and came fairly quickly. Even though they had 2 very large parties seated just before us.
Love Carini’s!!! The food is to die for and the family will make you feel like, well, family! Grab a drink at the bar before dinner to enjoy the best drinks and bartender you’ll find. Everything on the menu is fantastic, but our favorites are the mussels appetizer and la conca d’oro - they sub gluten free pasta for me for an allergy. It’s out of this world. The chef is always out and about checking in on everyone. Hands down most delicious food and welcoming atmosphere.
Excellent eggplant parmigiana- great wine — great service. No complaints! A wonderful tarimisu for my husbands birthday dessert!
This has been a go-to place for us for years. We live in a suburb north of Milwaukee so we have other excellent choices for dining out. But it’s often here that we choose. The last two times we visited we got seated on the “pizza side”. For us that affects how our overall experience is processed. For our most recent visit (my birthday) it wrecked the meal to be seated here.It is often loud, has screaming kids and the distraction of watching someone make pizzas. That’s fine if you are out for pizza. We go to dine. Request the dining side if you want a nice, peaceful meal. Food is always good.
The overall experience was outstanding from beginning to end. The food was over the TOP great...
Received a gift card for Christmas. My mom and I went this weekend before a Bucks game and it was nothing short of wonderful. The food was fantastic; the staff was helpful, friendly and fun; the owner/chef was very concerned about us liking the food and making sure everything was just as we wanted it. It was a fantastic experience which we plan on duplicating again before another Bucks game. Can not recommend highly enough.
Service was excellent - server and owner took great care to ensure our food was exactly what we wanted.
Very good food made with fresh ingredients. Friendly, family service. Always look forward to eating at Carinis.
Another great dining experience!
Great neighborhood family Italian. No pretense, just good food and good service at a great price. Highly recommend.
The seafood here is always so fresh. My favorite (Conca D'Ora?) includes clams, mussels, scallops, and shrimp with pasta and is so good. The staff is friendly and the service is attentive. If you're lucky, you can have their wonderful limoncello cheesecake for dessert. It's homemade, but sometimes they run out, so you might want to reserve a piece when you order your meal. You'll be glad you did!
The chef was fantastic, little long because they were down a person. Our waitress seemed a bit out of it or overwhelmed- it didn’t affect our tip but we had to make our concert. Food was absolutely divine. I’ve never had better shrimp and scallop scampi. Their seafood sells itself!
Wine menu was excellent. All Italian wines. Complimentary bread with a side of chopped garlic, herbs and oil was honestly the best table bread I've ever had as silly as it sounds. Ordered a caprese as an appetizer but it didn't arrive until after our entrees (beef spidini and seafood tortellini, both excellent), and the caprese was disappointing for one reason:our tomato had clearly been refrigerated for quite some time, and tasted like it may have been frozen at some point, plus it had taken on a particular fridgey taste. Everything else about the caprese was fine, but the tomato is the most essential part of the dish, and the best capreses I personally have had were made with room temperature tomatoes. We sent the dish back after a bite since it wasn't to our taste, and the server was accommodating enough to remove it from our bill. All in all, pleasant dining experience with mostly excellent food. Will be returning in the future to try pizzas.
Have not been in a while. Eggplant pasta excellent. Bolanese has change not a favorite. Bar martini was very good. Service very good every where
Excellent food and service. If you like red-sauce Italian food, this is the place.
Another nice dining experience!
As always Carini's is an excellent for a delicious dinner. A true Italian gem on the east side. Pastas and pizzas were excellent along with very good wine and wonderful service.
We have been driving by it for some time and finally decided to try it for my husband’s birthday.
The food and the service were amazing! Stefania, our waitress, was so sweet and Peter made us feel welcome once we walked through the door. We will definitely be back.
I like the place!!! I just wrote down that it was my Fiancée B’day and they didn’t say anything or offered deserts.
outstanding food at a reasonable price. will definitely be back.
appetizers were good but the lasagna was pretty weak. i like more cheese
Went to Carinis for dinner before a show in Milwaukee with friends. The service was good, and the ambiance was nice. However, the food was just standard tasting, nothing special. The prices for what we got also added up quickly (dinner for 2 was $100 with tip). When going to a nice Italian restaurant, I have no problem paying that much, but the restaurants I'm used to have much higher quality food.
Overall, I'd rate this place as "just okay."
