We were on vacation in Austin and found this gem on Open Table. Both the food and service were very good, definitely recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I had a lovely evening at Carillon on Saturday. We always enjoy our evening there, but we must have been flagged for special attention! The entire staff went above and beyond to make our evening special. A shout out to Joseph for his excellence as our server. Food was delicious and beautiful. It’s a favorite dining destination for us. Saturday evening assured we’ll continue to return.
Waiter and staff were great. The dinner was prepared well and paced well. The waiter had a very good knowledge of the menu and wine pairings

We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. The atmosphere is great, upscale but not stuffy. There were 6 of us and we could actually hear each other's conversation. Rare in many restaurants. They had a special of 3 items for $35. We all upgraded to the 3 for $45 because we wanted the steak, scallops and swordfish. The sushimi appetizer was the most popular. The salad was ok, not much flavor. I and my girlfriend had the scallops. They were exceptional. The steaks were not as well received. One had to be returned to kitchen because it was too tough to cut. My husband said his was not as tender as he wanted. Someone had the swordfish and liked his dish. The desserts were small but tasty. We will be back but maybe not order steak. Our waiter was exceptional. He really wanted to please us.
Me and My husband celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and I was looking for a restaurant to book a surprise dinner for him. To our convenience this restaurant was close by where we stayed. They were very accommodating though I changed my reservation twice and very welcoming when we entered the restaurant. To my surprise, they had a custom menu just for both of us right from appetizer to dessert and champagne was on them. I was so impressed and it was very thoughtful of them to surprise us like that. And food was very delicious, especially the dessert and quail. I would say, definitely try out this restaurant.
We've been here many times for special occasions, or just when we want intriguing food and a comfortable and quiet place where we can have a conversation with some friends. The food here is always exceptionally good, and the service is excellent. Everything is beautifully presented. The roasted celeriac soup was rich and had house-made bacon; the sea bass was crispy and flavorful; the sticky toffee finale was the perfect ending. They currently offer an unbelievably reasonably-priced tasting menu with a small plate, an entree and a dessert for $35 - for the quality of food that is unbeatable.
This is the second time we came to this restaurant and are very impressed. The standout feature is their great service - everyone seems to want to ensure that we have a great time. There were 8 of us and all 8 dishes were brought out at the same time!
It's our #1 place in Austin.
Food was impeccable! Servings were marvelous combinations of flavors & textures served as works of art by highly knowledgable, attentive but non-intrusive wait staff. The only down side to this restaurant is the vastly expansive atmosphere leaves one with a sense of exposure rather than intimacy.
Our server was delightful but that was the only positive. Food was slow to arrive. The fried quail was so salty it was not edible. We had heard great things a few years back. It left us wondering if it was under new ownership or something.
I never write reviews, but good lord was this horrible. We went for Valentines Day and were charged an arm and a leg for below than average service, rookie wait staff, small portions, and kind of a cheesy ambiance.

Had the prefix menu for valentine's day. appetizer was very good. steak was just ok. for the money, steak was definitely not up to the standard.
I had two dinner at this restaurant on a recent trip to Austin. What a great find. The first night was a business dinner and the second was a catch up with one old friend. The food, service and ambiance could not have been better on both nights.
We especially enjoyed Joseph, our server. He has wonderful recommendations and was just attentive enough.

Surprisingly one of the best meals I've ever had!
The ambience and the food were excellent. The only problem was our waiter, who while exuding friendliness and courtesy seemed to forget about our orders at times. We ordered an appetizer that never came. When we saw our salads coming out I asked about our appetizer. He said he was intending to bring them out after the salad! We had ordered the appetizer about 15 minutes before ordering anything else. When he was available, he was quite friendly, but he was not often available.
What a find! We were Louie's 106 fans for many years until they closed and this is a great replacement. Food is very good and the staff excel at making you feel important to them. It's quiet so conversation is easy. Not a formal interior but sleek and clean with open kitchen views (did not hear ANY kitchen noise). We would return for special occasions, a meal with friends, or business.
Anniversary & New Year’s Eve
Superb service and a great menu full of options all over the place made for a great meal after a movie at the IMAX.
I wish I could give the service another star—it was great. We had a one-year-old, and the house / food could not have been better: from her house-made buttered noodles to her special berry dessert. We adults of course loved our chicken fried quail and smoked pork chop entrees!
You're chef is amazing! Best meal ever in Austin. Service was exceptional as well. Convenient validated parking. Will be back!
We hosted an 11-person dinner at The Carillon to celebrate our daughter who was graduating from UT. The service and food were excellent. The prix fixe menu is a great value, and the charcuterie and cheese boards were a nice starter for the table. I would recommend The Carillon for dinner whether you are staying at the Hotel or not. The garage parking is validated, which is especially nice for non-hotel guests.

Always a favorite of mine here in Austin. Predictably civilized. They are gracious, the chairs are comfortable for an extended evening, the noise level allows conversation, the food is excellent, and the wine cellars are extensive. There are many foodie places that regularly get my business but I keep coming back to the Carillon when the wooden benches and overamplified rooms wear me down. Cheek and jowl is SOP on the menu's of some of the hotter spots and the Carillon is the best antidote in town.
It's a nice place. Old-school values. I went because 100% recommend it. After eating there I realize that the 100% is because it's not offense rather than because it's great. I probably won't go back because I think the place is generally uninspired. They're very nice.
The food was excellent as was the service. But being there on a Saturday night, we were surprised at how few people were there. And the overall atmosphere was "sterile" and outdated. Felt like eating in an unpopular hotel restaurant. It is a shame because the food was really good.
We had our 9:45 reservation and seated upon arrival. Server was great and he seems very knowledgeable and fun. As far as the service, it was great. My concern was main courses, they were extremely salty. Did not want to make a big deal since we wanted to get out there quickly.
Presentation of both main courses were sloppy. No elivation and both dishes were plats.
I would recommend that cook and chef make sure that food correctly season. This is basis and if you don’t know how to season food you cannot expect proper presentations. Not sure it happened because we were the last table of the restaurant to leave.
Service just a little slow but they were busy. Food outstanding.
I rarely give an unqualified "thumbs up", but this restaurant gets it.
They were offering a three-course menu for $35, which was amazing as each of the entree choices were near that price individually.
Roughly 100% of the time, a restaurant will decline to modify a prix fixe offering. I didn't want to overload my sugar intake, so asked if they could substitute a cheese plate for my dessert. "Of course!" was the smiling reply.
Every bite was a treat. The wine choices were substantial and well selected. The service stopped just short of intrusive, but was always cheery and sincere.
It is located in a UT building (hotel), and there aren't easy to spot signs to lead you to it. I recommend the valet parking, as it'll make it much easier and relaxed than walking from a nearby parking garage.
Foods were great, and all guests of mine were very happy about the service. It was a perfect place for business dinner.
As usual, the Carillon was a lovely Saturday evening date occasion. Food was spot on, the 3 for 35.00 menu was a great value and had many offerings, and the expanded menu was a great treat for husband. Chris was an attentive and friendly waiter; present but not too present. Unlike so many other restaurants, you can actually have a conversation at Carillon while enjoying tremendous food and an expansive wine list. Kudos all the way around.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The food was delicious. We also had a nice wine flight.

The food was delicious, it was quiet and we didn't have to yell to be heard across the table, and our waiter was fantastic. Top notch all the way around.
I took my sister there for her birthday. From the front desk on, everyone wished her a happy birthday, as I had noted that on the reservation request. NIce touch. We started with a half bottle of champagne and delayed ordering our meal. We perused the wine list with the sommelier, and after a pleasant exchange ordered a bottle of red wine. She came back with a just-opened bottle of something else and two glasses, saying the wine we wanted had been accidently left on the menu after the last bottle had been drunk, and wanted to give us a consolation round (my words, not hers) while we decided on another bottle. Very nice of her. We opted for a Napa cab, which was in stock, and not unpleasant. We placed our dinner order, and while waiting received a complimentary cheese plate. Nice touch again. The spring salads were delicious; fresh, tasty, and inventive. We both ordered the rib eye steak, which were cooked perfectly, except the sous-vide style and cut-up presentation didn't enhance the beef, in our minds. I would not get that again. The two desserts were nice, but neither of us had that much room left by then. The service was great; not too obtrusive, but knowledgeable and someone was on hand when needed. The current $35 three course menu is a bargain, and the wine list is interesting and in a range of prices. My sister was happy, and I'll be taking my husband there before too long.

I have eaten here many times. The food is always well sourced and expertly prepared. I have never been disappointed in the food or service.
A super evening enjoyed by all six of us. Outstanding food, and impeccable service. A visit is most definitely recommended.
Great restraurant for the price. Service, and atmosphere were top notch and noise was such that conversation was easy.
