Always a wonderful experience! Great food and perfect atmosphere to converse with friends. Service and is attentive but not intrusive.
We had a wonderful meal...nice relaxing atmosphere...a hidden gem in Austin!
Very mediocre tasting food. The sea bass was meh, but the pumpkin/squash tamale was just plain yuck. The ambiance was fine, but certainly not upscale. The service was friendly, timely and attentive. We won’t be back, due to the lack luster food that I wouldn’t pay for again, regardless of the price.
The food was extremely good. This is the best place to eat if you are attending an event on the UT campus. My pork shank was totally delicious. The meat was very tender, falling off the bone, and the dark red wine sauce was perfect for the pork. My starter was the pumpkin soup and it was also very good and had a beautiful presentation. My husband had the foie gras starter which consisted of a slice of foie gras and also some foie gras pate. Our desserts were also very good a Cranberry Cheesecake, and a Coconut-Chocolate Marquis which is somewhat like a Pavlova. Parking is very handy in the building's basement.
Food was good and so was the service, however the restaurant was strangely empty. It's a big space and there was only 1 other table. Because of that, it didn't feel like a date night. Shame.
Lovely dinner experience this past weekend at The Carillon which is hands down Austin's best-kept secret. Our server Chris was friendly and attentive, guiding us through the menu and recommending plates based on our food preferences and hunger levels. I cannot say enough good things about the food and stunning presentations ! (Try the sweet potato soup, Ahi Tuna, Striped Bass, Chocolate meringue... and probably everything else on the menu.) As far as wine and cocktails go, The Double Sazerac (with toasted meyer lemon) was so good that we had to order a second. The by-the-glass Sancere was the perfect wine recommendation to accompany dinner.
On top of all the amazing food, the staff is unbelievably warm and attentive which is becoming more and more rare to come across in the Austin dining scene. In particular, the manager Oscar was phenomenal. Big thank you to The Carillon team for the best celebration dinner we could have asked for!
We had our anniversary at The Carillion and it was spectacular. We were warmly greeted and they knew it was our anniversary! we were given Prosecco and flowers and an anniversary card signed by the staff! The staff were warm and hospitable. It was an overall lovely evening!
This is the very first time I've had to rate a restaurant this way. I was so disappointed in the service that I would not be returning. I arrived the restaurant a little earlier than scheduled, at about 5:35 pm. It took quite some time for someone to even approach my desk after I got seated. There was a lot of service going on with another table that had several people. I guess many is better than one; so the attention was there. When someone finally came, I told her I'd like to be done a little before 7 pm because I had a conference call at 7 pm. For one person, with no conversations, an hour is plenty to eat and get out. But I was there for another 25 minutes before my drink was brought. And my meal wasn't served until it was 6: 28 pm. The food was cold too. I ordered the 3 for $35 with desert which I had to take to-go because I just didn't have the time anymore to sit down and enjoy it while rushing through dinner. Desert was sorbet and berries. Suffice it to say that the sorbet had melted by the time I got to my room, and I had to toss it in the trash.
My advice? Every customer counts. Serve the single diner like you would a table of 20!
Amazing every single time.
A gem of a restaurant
As first timers to Austin we booked this restaurant not knowing much about it. Well it was a great success!
Excellent food, well thought out. Nice wine and wonderful cocktails. Great service in an elegant setting and all very reasonably priced.
It was a little quiet when we visited however this did not detract from any of our enjoyment. We spent 10 nights in Texas and this meal was definitely one of the best!
Food was excellent and the prix fixe was a great value.
We have had dinner here a couple of times, and have really been impressed with the entire experience. Tonight's waitress, Liza (?) was great - very attentive, very thorough, very friendly. My husband carries a business-like card with his alcoholic drink preference because of its complicated nature...the bartender came to the table to acknowledge the card, and was so cool. The food was delicious, and with the "3 for $35," a wonderful value. We will definitely return.
We had dinner at Carillon prior to the UT-OSU game to celebrate my stepson's birthday. Not only was the food delicious, the manager and staff went over the top to make it extra special with a champagne toast, customized printed menu, and a birthday card signed by all the staff. Totally unexpected and much appreciated!
Inventive cuisine, served well. We had a theater obligation and when we explained that to our server, she made sure we got out in time. The place is very quiet, allowing guests to hear one another without shouting. I highly recommend.
I wholly affirm all the positive reviews for The Carillon. And I'll add that my wife and I were particularly impressed with the 5-star customer service. We often comment that customer service is a lost cause in America, but the staff here had us believing again! Thanks for all the ways you made our 10-year anniversary dinner so special...especially for a couple of USC Trojans fans :)
This restaurant was so great. I really loved the food and the service. They made our anniversary feel so special.
We had a wonderful experience with our teenage son before going to enjoy Les Miserables at Bass Concert Hall. Our server, Cynthia, was excellent and attentive as well as the sommelier and rest of staff. We will definitely be back.
Wonderful! Go! It will be your new favorite place!
We had reservations after the LSU UT football game. I think they were just understaffed. I’ll try again and hope to have a better experience.
Great spot on campus!
Good for special event dining.. too expensive otherwise
We always love dining at Carillon!
Worth every penny! The chef created a very creative experience and we will definitely be back.
Shhhhh! This is a very underrated gem in Austin. Fine food. Fine cocktails. Fine wine. The rib eye was tender and cooked to perfection. The beef carpaccio was a light and flavorful start to our meal. The lemon lemon lemon dessert lived up to its name. This restaurant is quiet! No shouting to your dining companion. We eagerly look forward to going back.
Just looking to have a nice dinner after a hard day moving out our Daugther from her apartment. Excellent service, food and excellent place to listen to your friends.
The Carillon is by far our favorite restaurant. We absolutely love dining here! The staff always make us feel welcome and the food is by far one of the best we've ever had. Every dish is delicately crafted to please the eyes as well as your taste buds. The local and fresh ingredients are masterfully prepared to balance each other with each bite. I can go on forever, but The Carillon simply offers the best. We are lifelong customers!
Great food with great presentation! Excellent service! Low cost relative to food quality!
The Carillon staff were Welcoming and Attentive! We were from out of town and thought we could give this place a try. The new Chef did a great job on presentation of the dishes! The George Banks Scallops was my chosen dish. I would like it a bit more moist and flavorful. The Steak! Yum! It was cooked to perfection along with being nice and tender! The Dessert, Chocolate Mousse was incredible! Keep up the Hard Work!
The service was awesome and the food was great as well! I wish there were more options on the menu but the ribeye was GREAT!
One of the best meal experiences I have had in Austin! The selection, quality and service were superb. Seasonal ingredients prepared in creatively scrumptious dishes. Had the soft shell crab appetizer, snapper entree and buttermilk strawberry rhubarb panna cotta dessert. My mouth is watering just recalling the details! The beverage selection was equally satisfying and had a great Willamette Valley pinot noir that was unfamiliar. I cannot wait to return on another trip.
The 3 course pre fix meal is an excellent value. Our table had several entrees and they were all very good and ample servings. The best dessert by far was the lemon lemon, the corn pound cake was just ok. The atmosphere is quiet and very nice. Our service was excellent -she was attentive and engaging
I really like this restaurant food was awesome and very beautiful service everybody is very nice this place.. I will go this place again.
Excellent food and service. Great value too with the summer 3 course special. Food presentation was wonderful and ingredients very fresh.
Impecable service as always. Wonderful spring menu. And the smoked crab rillettes to die for. Initially, the oysters were not available then were brought to us when someone cancelled their order. How nice of the staff. Thank you, Oscar! Love the oysters here. This has become our monthly go to. Always very good experience.
The Carillon was convenient for dinner before an event at Bass Concert Hall. Wednesday dinner specials (wine & cheese board, prix fixe menu) were a bonus! The scallops and the red snapper were both delicious. The chocolate banoffee mousse was delightful. We look forward to dining here again.
Food is always good. I noticed a bit of a decline in waitstaff service, but nothing that was bad, just less than their usual 5 star level. (waitress kept on announcing prices of meals when I told her not to mention price since I was paying all; server poured soup into bowl in front of me from too high a level, splashing soup on me and table; wine steward spent too long on explanations of wine pairings while our food sat getting cool) I will go back, no doubt. The food, wine, and surroundings are wonderful!
wonderful service. one vegetable item was over cooked but waitress did an awesome job replacing with another item and discounted the entree.
Didn't know what to expect with the prior negative comments but found wonderful ambiance. Service expert. Dishes interesting and beautifully prepared. Quiet, adult atmosphere.
Start to finish, excellent. One of the best in the city.
EVERYTHING from the service, the food, the ambience & presentation was perfect.
Hand down, Great people, amazibg atmosphere, and beautiful food! It's very worth while, different flavors and things my wife and I never tried.
I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a finer area!
