food was good had the venison a little dry. Flourless chocolate cake was amazing!
The attitude at the host stand was very unfortunate. Lots of attitude upon our arrival despite a reservation and on time arrived.
Apparently there is a “secret” sushi menu that you only receive if you ask. Also our 11 year old did not even warrant the offering of their kids menu which we found out too late actually existed, so we were forced to pay for a $40 oversized meal for her.
The steak was undercooked despite putting in a medium order it came out bloody and Rare. Whereas the salmon was WAY over cooked. Sushi looked good but we never had the chance to order it without knowledge of the menu. Great view of the ocean but very unfortunate experience.
Their sister Hotel The Opal Sands has a FAR superior dining experience.
Ordered from the prix fix menu. The appetizers and soup and salad and dessert courses were very good. The main courses were just so so or downright disappointing. The grouper was ok but the Kansas City steak was awful. Ordered it prepared medium and it was very tough to cut and even harder to eat. My sister’s was just as bad. We could not eat the steak. I have eaten at this restaurant at least 6 other times. This visit was very disappointing.
It was my wife's birthday and an overnight at the Sand Pearl. We had a special bottle of our own wine and a great meal. Dane was our waiter and was fabulous. The whole experience was very nice. Highlights.. Fois gras.....Veal Medallions...Crab Cake...Surf and Turf Sushi Roll....the Flourless Chocolate Cake Nice sunset.
Everyone was wonderful! Four of us (out of 8) arrived early (almost 2 hrs), I went to check in for our reservation and we were offered the start of our mimosas. We sat outside at the firepits while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. The Mgr, Hostess, Bartender - all were so pleasant and accomodating! A half hour before our reservation, since our full party had arrived, we were able to be seated. The brunch menu was delicious and magnificent! Our waitress, MaggieMarie was great, always refilling the champagne glasses and providing oj on the side! She was very busy with many tables. The only downside was that our plates were not removed as quickly as we would've liked - but we did it ourselves several times as there was a table for the dirty plates and we knew our server was extremely busy - hey as long as she kept the champagne flowing, it didn't bother us! They also validated the parking if you had the valet -which had we known, would have done so (we parked in the garage across the way). Well worth the $39 - cannot wait to go back! Absolutely recommend Caretta on the Gulf at Sandpearl!
We had a short vacation in Clearwater Beach and this restaurant was highly rated on Open Table. We were not disappointed. Great food and great service.
Very nice location. Very good food snd very good service!
Very Good++. Solid 4.3+ stars. YES, we would go back. Nice job. DETAILED VERSION: Although we are locals from Tampa, this was our 1st time to Caretta's. We expected a very good to excellent meal and we were not disappointed. SERVICE: We made last minute reservations and were seated at a nice table. Michelle - our server - was Excellent. Just the right amount of attention and great attitude to enhance a nice meal. WINE/COCKTAILS: We both had a cocktail off the menu - yummy - and went straight for an entree. FYI - Prices of cocktails/wines are what you would expect for an upscale eclectic place like Caretta's. Wine list was quite good in comparison to others in Clearwater Beach. FOOD: My companion had the Sea Bass, I had the Salmon. Both were a Good to Very Good. Perhaps just missing a hint of seasoning somewhere in both dishes. Still - we finished them, and they were satisfying. The rest of the menu we will try over time. OVERALL: Caretta's is arguably the best upscale place on Clearwater Beach. Sushi on the menu as well is a very nice touch. Prices are upscale - but hey - you are not at a Red Lobster, and you are on the beach. YES, we would go back. We suggest you get reservations. NOTE: The bar scene was lively, with mostly a 40's to 60's crowd, which is off to the side of the dining room.
An elegant amazing meal with so many choices. We loved and will def go back!
Same as last time. GREAT
Always a special evening when I have a chance to dine here. I love the atmosphere, the view, the staff, and the exceptional food.
Inattentive, unprofessional service throughout the dinner.
We had a fantastic time here during our stay at the Sand Pearl. Highly recommend!
Perfect In every way. We were there twice in the same number of days. Best cocktail I’ve had any where in Clearwater. Thank you.
Food and ambiance were outstanding. They offered different takes on many dishes. Black Grouper was outstanding. Server Chris was top notch. Great blend of personality and attentiveness.
such a beautiful setting for dinner. The food was outstanding with the exception of my Chilean sea bass that was overcooked and dry. My husbands new York strip was wonderful but he didn't like having to cut around the bone.
Food was amazing
Very nice restaurant with good food and great service. If you visit Clearwater Beach this should be on your list.
My wife felt the tables were to tall.
It is by far the best 5 Star Restaurant on the beach with an incredible wine list highly recommended.
Came here the night I got engaged to my girlfriend. It was amazing. The service, the food, the location, everything was perfect. It is by far the nicest restaurant in Clearwater Beach area.
This was a dinner with my wife, 29 year old daughter and her boyfriend. We were in Clearwater for business and happily were able to eat together to catch up.
We arrived just in time for an amazing sunset view through the windows. All the food was amazing: lobster bisque, sashimi, poke, grouper ... just fantastic.
Ambiance was pleasant and I wish that we would not have been in a center table: the window booths are the way to go!
Food was very good, well seasoned and huge portions. Service was impeccable. Never had to pour our own wine.
Can't get a better view! Sushi was delicious and creative and FRESH!
Great experience. Good ambiance and food.
Wonderful place to have a romantic dinner! Definitely would recommend again.
Waiter kept bothering us
We had a table of six and the service could not have been better! Nathan was our main server but there was a team and they were excellent. All of the food was fantastic until the entrees came. Those of us who ordered fish were very happy but half the table ordered steak and it was tough. The steak was cooked properly ( med rare in some cases), but was barely able to be cut with a steak knife. We were disappointed in the main meal but everything else was top notch. Stick with the fish, it was fantastic!
Excellent but a little pricy . Quiet with with top level service and great food. Date restaurant.
We had a wonderful evening at Caretta's and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion. The ambiance, service, food and wine was perfect. The lobster bisque was very flavourful and not too thick, and although the Dover Sole was delicious, it was not quite as good as what we've had in other restaurants of the same calibre. The wine list was quite extensive, and provided a broad range of prices.
Best Brunch on the Beach, been every time I’ve stayed at the Sandpearl and never been disappointed. Visit no 13 coming up at Sandpearl and 20th Brunch for our Anniversary in May.
We went for an early valentines day and it was an amazing sunset and good view of the beach. I would for sure like to go back.
Had both dinner and Sunday Brunch. Good selection at Brunch, although deserts a little bland.
Good service. Interesting choices on main menu. Crab cake excellent
We arrived early and enjoyed drinks on the deck before entering the dining room. I wanted to try the grouper, for which the area is famous. I ordered the prix fixe dinner option (with choices for each course), and it was delicious, and a good value. I selected the tuna roll, the tomato soup, the grouper, and creme brulee for dessert. My husband had the veal, also excellent. We timed our reservation just right and enjoyed a beautiful sunset view. Our waiter did a good job of offering suggestions and was initially very attentive, but didn't check back with us that much later on, which would have been nice. Overall, an excellent meal and experience.
I made this reservation 4 months in advance for a Birthday dinner. I requested a window table. When we arrived at the restaurant there was not a window table reserved for us. When we inquired as to why since our reservation was made 4 months ago, we were RUDELY told that they do not reserve window tables but it is on a first come first serve basis. We were not told of this policy when we booked. We were disappointed about the window table but understood the restaurant's policy. What upset us was the manager's attitude.....very non-caring and the manager basically said if you don't like our rules, then get out. Even though I mentioned a special occasion of a birthday when I made the reservation and also mentioned it to the manager upon checking in, nothing special was done for the birthday, ie - free dessert, etc. As far as the food, we waited 45 minutes for our meal after appetizers were served. The filet steak was over done and hard as a rock to cut through. The salmon was ordered medium and was over cooked past well done. This would NOT be a restaurant that would deserve our recommendations.
Fabulous food and service. The view was amazing. People at the next table were a little loud but wasn't a total turn-off. We learned an awful lot about them! Definitely not the fault of the restaurant.
Everyone should eat here at least once. It's amazing
Excellent food, service, and views! We are local and this was our second visit. The review could end there, right? But I have to say, every bit of food was delicious. I had the Braised Short Ribs appetizer (perfect), the garden salad (exactly what you want in a salad and pretty enough for a picture!), the Cod (unbelievably well prepared and exceptionally tasty), and the Crème Brulee desert (done just right). The two person serving team was very attentive but not obtrusive and helped with questions on the menu. The view is absolutely perfect Florida Beach. Time your arrival 30 + minutes before sunset and you will have an amazing show throughout your entire dinner.
While the waiter and manager were very attentive, the service was very slow. We waited more than 45 minutes to get our appetizers. And then a long wait for the main courses. My sole was over cooked so the manger brought me a filet steak instead. Another long wait. The steak was very good.
The place is always a pleasure to visit. We live in Tampa and don’t mind the drive. The food is great and so is the service.
