Very nice! Everything we had was superb. I recommend the Chef's Special - Ton of food can almost be split between two. Great seafood! Highly Recommend for a special occasion or date.
Great! Would return!
Restaurant is very well presented but for the price the food could have been better. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things (steak and grouper). Also, while I enjoy the dim lighting, some consideration needs to be given that once it's so dark the place is filled with LED phone flashlights. Biggest disappointment was getting our bill and seeing (6) extra entrees had been added to it. This is a mistake and no problem, but for the waiter to say he "gave us the wrong check" was just a lie. I was torn between deciding whether this was a fib to save face, or a discovered effort to overcharge drinking patrons in a high end restaurant with lighting to dim to see a receipt. If you frequent high end restaurants, give it a shot but if you're saving up for a fancy night out I would turn elsewhere.
Sunset seat by the window was perfect. Food very nicely done and catered to my Celiac gluten free needs. Service great wine list very good. Classy dinner spot in a town where pubs and bars are everywhere.
I had made our reservations April 1st for our April 11th dinner. We arrived at 7:27 pm for our 7:30 reservation and were told “ You can have a seat in the lounge while we prepare your table for two.” We ordered cocktails, and before they arrived we were told our table was ready for dinner. This is where it continues to disappoint....our table was not “gulf view” because we had multiple people in front of our view. We had expected a table next to the window. My husband faced me so he didn’t see the sunset at all. Our food was just okay certainly not what we expected from a higher end restaurant. The strip steak had grizzle through it and parts of it were chewy. I found it annoying to watch staff sit several other customers window side and we were at the opposite wall. Overall a disappointing experience, at a cost exceeding one hundred dollars.
I recently visited Tampa and experienced two five star meals, this was one of them. Both my wife and I had fish. Both dishes were fresh and creative. The service was great and the outside dining on the gulf just added to the evening. Outstanding on all points.
I was in FL visiting my son who is in the Coast Guard. I had missed his birthday, Valentine's Day, and Easter since we was at sea. I wanted a special restaurant to treat him to so I could show him how very proud I am of him. The service, atmosphere, and food were amazing! Russell was our server and was literally at our beck and call for anything we needed during our dining experience. Beautiful view of the ocean. I would definitely make this a stop the next time I am in FL visiting.
Excellent, great food, romantic, outside dining
The meal from appetizer to dessert was excellent. Chris’s service was outstanding. The sunset over the water was breathtaking. I normally do not write reviews, but my experience was so good that wanted to share it.
Anniversary dinner.
Went to celebrate my daughters 23rd birthday. I have no issues with the service or ambiance however the food quality was sub par on 2 of the 3 entrees. Salad was drenched in a bland dressing and seemingly got the poor cuts of fish that were less than inspiring. Ordered creme brûlée for desert which had consistency of paste and no flavor. Our waiter inquired in the kitchen and they admitted something had gone wrong. I seldom write a bad review but for the money we spent it was a huge disappointment. Won't be back for the food
Great atmosphere and service. Excellent food. Highly recommend!
The only thing i was not happy about was your food -- the filet was very tender tho- the vegetables were so very over cooked that i wasted them -- they were awful!!!! -was surprised for the amount of money one has to spend !need to improve on that and keeping food warmer before giving to customer -- everything was only luke warm:( i would go there for drinks as it is a beautiful environment--- to try another food ?????-----the dessert i had for my birthday was very good -- double mouse dessert
Excellent food and service. Amazing view of the gulf so book your table for a sunset time.
Fabulous dinner. Great Service. Awesome chef.
Dinner was amazing. Despite clouds views were great. And our server Chris was very courteous and responsive
Excellent food and service. View of the gulf is extraordinary. Great wait staff!
Birthday dinner
Slightly pretentious service. Overcooked fish. Disappointing.
Caretta came highly recommended and lived up to the hype. We are a family of four, three of whom have gluten allergies and our son has special needs/dietary requirements. Food was delicious, wine list impressive and staff was not put off by our needs, meeting them with ease. Chris was our main server and did and excellent job, as well as those assisting. The highlight was at sunset when the shades rose and we were able to watch the gorgeous sunset. Money well spent.
An oasis of civility. Having arrived in Clearwater Beach for a look around, I was, perhaps foolishly, surprised by the scene. Loud muscle cars revving their engines, generally scrappy looking beach goers milling about, and my wife and I dressed nicely but comfortably for a nice dinner. The Sandpearl was a welcome retreat. The resort itself was beautiful, although we did not stay. We were only there for a nice dinner. We were seated outside overlooking the beach. Nice views, very attentive and friendly staff, and the food was quite good. I ordered a steak and it was good, but I'm spoiled by Chicago quality steakhouses like Gibsons (as well as my own home grilling), so no real high marks from me. Still, very pleased overall and would go again.
We have dined all over the world and U.S., this was a top 5 experience from the very start of the evening. Our waiter Chris was impeccable with his service. The timing was awesome as we were in no hurry and he respected that completely. The ambience is absolutely wonderful.
There aren't enough words to describe our experience and we will always make Caretta a dining must when we return next year.
Thank you for making it so special and an extra thanks to Chris!!!
Best Regards

Good food and decent ambiance for breakfast, lunch and dinner, though it can get very noisy at times. My kids liked the offerings and especially the fact that they catered to kids, which is nice. The Ahi Tuna (dinner) is the best thing on the menu. Some options are overpriced, my husband wasn't as crazy about his dinner meal. This is not the best restaurant in Clearwater, but it's a good choice. Try the breakfast buffet; that's the best thing they have going. Lots of options abound. The strawberries were moldy on our first day's breakfast and they ran out of the muffins my daughter liked, but the omelettes were very good and hats off to our waitress, Susan, who was very nice and went above and beyond.
Elegant and awesome, I took my mom to dinner and we had a great experience.
Have been dining at Caretta's for years when in town for Spring Training. Never has been disappointing. High end, creative food; separate and distinct sushi/raw bar chef for those so inclined. Window tables, especially wonderful, looking out on the people on Clearwater beach and the absolute spectacular sunset - but need to get there early for these tables as they go fast. Fine wine list with acceptable markup. Overall great experience.
Amazing food & service. Russel was our server and he is very attentive. The food is amazing and presentation is spectacular. I had seafood and would highly recommend the lobster entree and jumbo scallop appetizer.
We have eaten here four times this week. Sunday brunch was fabulous. A wide variety of choices. We also enjoyed the everyday breakfast buffet and the a la carte breakfast. For dinner I had the pre fixe meal and my husband had steak. Quality ingredients served beautifully!
First class. A must do when in the area.
Russel was our server. Our food was amazing & service was 5 Star!
food was good had the venison a little dry. Flourless chocolate cake was amazing!
The attitude at the host stand was very unfortunate. Lots of attitude upon our arrival despite a reservation and on time arrived.
Apparently there is a “secret” sushi menu that you only receive if you ask. Also our 11 year old did not even warrant the offering of their kids menu which we found out too late actually existed, so we were forced to pay for a $40 oversized meal for her.
The steak was undercooked despite putting in a medium order it came out bloody and Rare. Whereas the salmon was WAY over cooked. Sushi looked good but we never had the chance to order it without knowledge of the menu. Great view of the ocean but very unfortunate experience.
Their sister Hotel The Opal Sands has a FAR superior dining experience.
Ordered from the prix fix menu. The appetizers and soup and salad and dessert courses were very good. The main courses were just so so or downright disappointing. The grouper was ok but the Kansas City steak was awful. Ordered it prepared medium and it was very tough to cut and even harder to eat. My sister’s was just as bad. We could not eat the steak. I have eaten at this restaurant at least 6 other times. This visit was very disappointing.
It was my wife's birthday and an overnight at the Sand Pearl. We had a special bottle of our own wine and a great meal. Dane was our waiter and was fabulous. The whole experience was very nice. Highlights.. Fois gras.....Veal Medallions...Crab Cake...Surf and Turf Sushi Roll....the Flourless Chocolate Cake Nice sunset.
Everyone was wonderful! Four of us (out of 8) arrived early (almost 2 hrs), I went to check in for our reservation and we were offered the start of our mimosas. We sat outside at the firepits while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. The Mgr, Hostess, Bartender - all were so pleasant and accomodating! A half hour before our reservation, since our full party had arrived, we were able to be seated. The brunch menu was delicious and magnificent! Our waitress, MaggieMarie was great, always refilling the champagne glasses and providing oj on the side! She was very busy with many tables. The only downside was that our plates were not removed as quickly as we would've liked - but we did it ourselves several times as there was a table for the dirty plates and we knew our server was extremely busy - hey as long as she kept the champagne flowing, it didn't bother us! They also validated the parking if you had the valet -which had we known, would have done so (we parked in the garage across the way). Well worth the $39 - cannot wait to go back! Absolutely recommend Caretta on the Gulf at Sandpearl!
We had a short vacation in Clearwater Beach and this restaurant was highly rated on Open Table. We were not disappointed. Great food and great service.
Very nice location. Very good food snd very good service!
Very Good++. Solid 4.3+ stars. YES, we would go back. Nice job. DETAILED VERSION: Although we are locals from Tampa, this was our 1st time to Caretta's. We expected a very good to excellent meal and we were not disappointed. SERVICE: We made last minute reservations and were seated at a nice table. Michelle - our server - was Excellent. Just the right amount of attention and great attitude to enhance a nice meal. WINE/COCKTAILS: We both had a cocktail off the menu - yummy - and went straight for an entree. FYI - Prices of cocktails/wines are what you would expect for an upscale eclectic place like Caretta's. Wine list was quite good in comparison to others in Clearwater Beach. FOOD: My companion had the Sea Bass, I had the Salmon. Both were a Good to Very Good. Perhaps just missing a hint of seasoning somewhere in both dishes. Still - we finished them, and they were satisfying. The rest of the menu we will try over time. OVERALL: Caretta's is arguably the best upscale place on Clearwater Beach. Sushi on the menu as well is a very nice touch. Prices are upscale - but hey - you are not at a Red Lobster, and you are on the beach. YES, we would go back. We suggest you get reservations. NOTE: The bar scene was lively, with mostly a 40's to 60's crowd, which is off to the side of the dining room.
An elegant amazing meal with so many choices. We loved and will def go back!
Same as last time. GREAT
Always a special evening when I have a chance to dine here. I love the atmosphere, the view, the staff, and the exceptional food.
