Caretta on the Gulf at the Sandpearl Resort Ratings and Reviews
We had a table of six and the service could not have been better! Nathan was our main server but there was a team and they were excellent. All of the food was fantastic until the entrees came. Those of us who ordered fish were very happy but half the table ordered steak and it was tough. The steak was cooked properly ( med rare in some cases), but was barely able to be cut with a steak knife. We were disappointed in the main meal but everything else was top notch. Stick with the fish, it was fantastic!
We arrived early and enjoyed drinks on the deck before entering the dining room. I wanted to try the grouper, for which the area is famous. I ordered the prix fixe dinner option (with choices for each course), and it was delicious, and a good value. I selected the tuna roll, the tomato soup, the grouper, and creme brulee for dessert. My husband had the veal, also excellent. We timed our reservation just right and enjoyed a beautiful sunset view. Our waiter did a good job of offering suggestions and was initially very attentive, but didn't check back with us that much later on, which would have been nice. Overall, an excellent meal and experience.
I made this reservation 4 months in advance for a Birthday dinner. I requested a window table. When we arrived at the restaurant there was not a window table reserved for us. When we inquired as to why since our reservation was made 4 months ago, we were RUDELY told that they do not reserve window tables but it is on a first come first serve basis. We were not told of this policy when we booked. We were disappointed about the window table but understood the restaurant's policy. What upset us was the manager's attitude.....very non-caring and the manager basically said if you don't like our rules, then get out. Even though I mentioned a special occasion of a birthday when I made the reservation and also mentioned it to the manager upon checking in, nothing special was done for the birthday, ie - free dessert, etc. As far as the food, we waited 45 minutes for our meal after appetizers were served. The filet steak was over done and hard as a rock to cut through. The salmon was ordered medium and was over cooked past well done. This would NOT be a restaurant that would deserve our recommendations.
Excellent food, service, and views! We are local and this was our second visit. The review could end there, right? But I have to say, every bit of food was delicious. I had the Braised Short Ribs appetizer (perfect), the garden salad (exactly what you want in a salad and pretty enough for a picture!), the Cod (unbelievably well prepared and exceptionally tasty), and the Crème Brulee desert (done just right). The two person serving team was very attentive but not obtrusive and helped with questions on the menu. The view is absolutely perfect Florida Beach. Time your arrival 30 + minutes before sunset and you will have an amazing show throughout your entire dinner.
While the waiter and manager were very attentive, the service was very slow. We waited more than 45 minutes to get our appetizers. And then a long wait for the main courses. My sole was over cooked so the manger brought me a filet steak instead. Another long wait. The steak was very good.
I surprised my hubby with a stay at the hotel and opted for dinner at Carettas....The atmosphere is gorgeous, our server Dane was awesome! He was on top of his game. Both he and Michael were so...helpful when we came across an issue with a class in our appt times with dinner vs the spa. We truly appreciated how they helped us work through it. Customer service goes a LONG way! Thanks again!
The food was very fresh and delicious! We would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning for another visit.
This meal was perfect in every way. The four course tasting menu had all the selections I desired. The crab cake was perfect with a spicy aioli. The garden salad was a work of art with a beautifully composed selection of lightly dressed vegetables. The black grouper was seared with a nice crust and served on a bed of favorful risotto, artichokes and mushrooms that was perfect with a pinot noir. The blackberry sorbet was a cool ending. The service by Nate and Todd was perfect.
We went to Caretta to enjoy a relaxing, well-prepared meal and were not disappointed. Service was great and the atmosphere was perfect to allow a group of 5 to catch up. We were disappointed with the clouds hiding the sunset – but other than that, we greatly enjoyed the experience. I had thought seafood, but with their in house meat aging/prep, 4 of us went with meat entrees with no regrets. I had the venison, which was perfectly prepared and the sides were a perfect accompaniment. We will be back.
Beautiful location, delicious food, unlimited champagne! The selection at the buffet was good, but I did miss more traditional breakfast items like yogurt or oatmeal with toppings, etc. However, there was an abundance to choose from and it was all delicious!
I ordered the Cesar salad and was disappointed at the flavor of the dressing, it was a weak version, lacking in flavor. For an entree, I went with the grouper. The portion was small and again lacking in taste. For the price of both items, one would have expected something more memorable. Sadly, the only memory I have is small portions, average tasting dishes and at an expensive price.
I found it very expensive for the value. The Food was decent enough, but not out of this world. My steak was a over cooked and a little tough. Difficult to maneuver with the plate presentation. The ambience and the service was very good. It is one f the few elegant restaurants on the beach.
A bit pricey, but we had a good meal with a nice atmosphere and great service. My steak was a bit too done, however it was redone very quickly and was perfect. When we go back, we will be sure to go before dark so we can enjoy what is probably a gorgeous view.
