Caretta on the Gulf at the Sandpearl Resort Ratings and Reviews
I've been spending my summers in Clearwater, Florida since I was a baby with my family. Now in my late twenties, I've seen the main strip grow and have always wanted to try a higher end restaurant with someone special. This year I got to bring my fiance along and we wanted to have a really special date night. Caretta on the Gulf was the perfect getaway. The location was stunning (we had reservations at sunset), the food was amazing and our server Dane was so genuine when discussing what our menu options were. This is will definitely be one of our go-to date nights the next time we are back in town.
We were in Clearwater for our 35th Wedding Anniversary Weekend and Caretta's made our dinner celebration fantastic. Mike, our waiter suggested the Chilean Sea Bass and it was melt in your mouth good. Everything from appetizers to dessert was simply outstanding. Thanks for an awesome evening Caretta's. We will return for sure next time we are on the West Coast again. Regards......Erik H.
We loved our night here. First my wife and i were greeted by our waiter, chris, and he was very curtious and prompt throughout the whole night. Food was cooked just as we asked, and had great flavor. Atmosphere was comfortable, and elegant. Very good overall.
Fine dining gone south... portions were too big, the dishes came with too many sauces (you could barely taste the actual fish), and people were dressed in flip flops and shorts.
For $40 an entree, I expected something better.
I have been to Caretta on the Gulf several times and I have never been disappointed. The food changes seasonally emphasizing local availability. The food is delicious, the service is outstanding, the ambiance is perfect for a romantic or family dinner. Tables are arranged so that every diner has a great view of the Gulf of Mexico and sunset is quite spectacular.
My wife and I have some complicated food restrictions and our server and the chef handled our needs beautifully.
If you are visiting Tampa Bay and you only have time to dine at one fine-dining restaurant, I recommend that you choose Caretta's.
The scenery was beautiful. The food was good, seafood and steak mainly. We loved the desserts we ordered. The meat was not cooked as we ordered but still ok. Maybe the seafood dishes would have been better. The server, hostess, valet assistant were all very friendly.
Unfortunately, the host had us wait for a table over an hour. He blamed making reservations on Open Table and told us that you made us sit outside and to not reserve like that if we want an indoor table in the future.
The server was not bright although nice enough. We sent back coffee 3 times for being cold.
Table was dirty and there was egg on our placemats.
Went here for Sunday brunch on Father's Day. This place is awesome. The service was probably the best I have ever had at brunch. Mimosas constantly refilled, empty plates taken away immediately, silverware replaced immediately. The food was great quality also. Top notch all the way around. And the price was reasonable also. Would go back every Sunday if I could.
Caretta on the Gulf is our go to in Clearwater Beach. We look forward to our visit once every 2 years (we live in California). The seafood platter never disappoints, very dramatic presentation and fresh. The views are amazing, the service is also wonderful.
Wow, so disappointed with this place. My husband and I got dolled up for a nice dinner while on our honeymoon and I left completely dissappointed. My husband had to send his steak back because it was over cooked and my Chilean Sea Bass was also overcooked and had no flavor. The crab soup was too salty and the potato soufflé was also lacking flavor. One of the most disappointing meals we've had and the first bad meal we've had in Clearwater Beach. We definitely won't be back.
Gorgeous view both on the deck (where we sat for dinner) or inside the near the tall windows. Outdoor seating was near the resort pool but not very noisy. Live music from the other side of the resort was fun and added to ambiance. Food was quite good and large portions so while on the pricier end your quality and quantity levels are also high! Chowder was fantastic! Short rib was very salty. Shrimp and grits are tasty but heavy so choose wisely with appetizers, and Kentucky strip cooked to medium was spot on. Finally, service was excellent! Great special dinner option with sunset views.
This was the fourth time we have been to Caretta on the Gulf at the Sandpearl Resort. We have celebrated our Wedding Anniversary there three times and celebrated our Mother's 80th Birthday also. The service has been excellent and the food outstanding. I would highly recommend Caretta to you for your elegant dining pleasure.
