Caretta on the Gulf at the Sandpearl Resort Ratings and Reviews
Each of us ordered steak. The way our dinners were plated caused clumsy meat cutting, and the vegetables (plated under the steak) kept slipping off the plate onto the table. The food itself was just OK. A loud group was watching college football in the bar adjacent to (not separated from) the dining room. Their raucous enjoyment of the game erased any hope for dining elegance. So not worth the price.
Our first visit to the restaurant. Went for my wife's birthday. We ate late (1:00PM) and the regular wait person had just gone home. The receptionist did a good job of taking care of us, although she was covering a lot of territory for one person. The food was good and the view of the Gulf of Mexico was nice. We'll return because the site is a pleasant oasis within the Clearwater Beach mob scene.
This is my 5th or 6th visit to Caretta. I have never found it to be less than perfect. The ambiance is lovely, service is wonderful, with fully-trained and knowledgeable waitstaff, quality of food is amazing. Russell was (once again) our waiter, and he was faultless. I live locally, so have the chance to come often, and I always entertain my out-of-town friends here, whenever they visit. The only other thing I could wish for would be that they keep their online menus updated - often what is shown on their website is no longer on the menu. The chef changes it seasonally (as he should), but it would be nice to be able to see something accurate in advance, especially for those people with dietary restrictions.
We had an absolutely wonderful time, our waiter,Dane, was very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was fantastic! We definitely plan on returning. My husbands coffee was served in a french press with a rock candy stirrer and a biscotti! He us still smiling about it! I would give 10 stars if I could!
Menu was varied with enough new and standard choices., presentation verys appealing, and each meal was uniquely flavorful. Service was sufficiently attentive, but not bothersome. Only wish that the a/c worked better at l pm or that there were fan. Burnt toasted bread filled the air and no access to fresh air or gulf breeze.
We were extremely disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. This is our 3rd time staying at the hotel( which is one of our favorite places to stay.) My husband is a fireman in NY and we come every year for the conference. We recommended that our 7 friends meet us at our hotel for dinner, so we were a party of 9. We spent quite a lot of money on drinks at the bar and then sat for dinner at 8:15. We all ordered and when the appetizers arrived, my friend had a sushi roll, and we didn’t see that on the menu! She told me she ordered from a price fix menu! She was the only one at the table that received that menu!! Needless to say everyone was upset as her 4 courses came out and we were all paying a la carte. When it was mentioned to the waitress she dismissed it saying my steak was better. Well, it should be, it was 54.00 just for that!! When we went to discuss it the next day with the manager, he was very dismissive, as well. We suggested that when the specials are told, it should be mentioned that there is an option for a price fix menu, as well. We are embarrassed that we recommended everyone come to eat at our hotel and very disappointed. We will never return.
This place is a legit steak and seafood establishment in Clearwater Beach. Service was friendly and attentive. Food prepared perfectly. Drinks made as called for. Caretta brought its A-game on a Sunday night no less. The only downside was a choice made by the hostess to seat our group of 7 men 1 table away from a table of two couples and their babies. One of the couple's had a soothing machine turned on that blared a "Shhhh" sound once every 4-5 seconds. It made it hard to concentrate on conversation at our table. With 10 other possible tables open in the restaurant including some at the opposite end of the dining room I'm puzzled as to why we needed to be right next to the other table. Again, COTG still gets an A rating...just a little disappointing in our dining room location.
We all had a very enjoyable experience overall. We were greeted on arrival and offered drinks which was very pleasant. The lady was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. There was an excellent choice at the buffet stations and very high quality. Nothing was too much trouble for the chefs. Our server was very pleasant and friendly however she did seem to want to hurry us along after about an hour and actually brought us water to go. It would have been a nice touch had we been ready to leave. Our only disappointment was that the advertised champagne turned out to be proseco.
Our meal was fabulous! This was our third time dining at Carettas and the food and service have also been consistent. Nate made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The Chilean Sea bass and the filet mignon were great. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Caretta's at the Sandpearl was magnificent. The room is warm and airy. You can either sit outside to enjoy the beautiful Gulf view or inside on those hot summer Clearwater days.
The food was excellent with a wonderful blend of breakfast, lunch, dinner, seafood, and more. Fresh sushi is one of my favorites. The carving bar and omelette bar round it all out. Wonderful mini-desserts tops off the meal. Every part of the meal was great.
My only complaint is that there were endless mimosas for those who want champagne but I had to pay for my Bloody Mary.
We are locals who have heard good reviews from friends, so we thought we'd treat ourselves for our anniversary & looked forward to getting dressed up for a rare night out without the kids. Unfortunately, other than our few very expensive cocktails, we were very disappointed. My husband got the filet and I got the snapper, but to be honest they were not good. We make much better steak & fish at home. Next time, we'll send kids to the grandparents, make our own dinner & save $200! 😒👎
Always enjoy my dinner here. Excellent filet dish. Always perfect. We had a beautiful table outside with amazing views. Michelle was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. It was here birthday and we were honored to have her serve us. Always 5 star experience here.
Modern, clean lines decor, the restaurant offered a spectacular sunset on the Gulf of Mexico. That ambiance sky rocketed at the first sip of a Paso Robles cabernet sauvignon. I ordered a plate of a delightful carpaccio well suited with other condiments. Then came the main course which was two pieces of pork with an exquisite sauce that was just the best combination for it! That was absolutely revealing. I had the courage to order something I usually don't order: a strawberry cake, with other layer of fruit jelly. With a zesty sauce that accompanied that, I could feel the flavor jumping in my mouth.
I absolutely recommend that place for myself to go back to Clearwater and to SandPearl, but also for whoever has the chance to go there.
