Food and service were excellent . Chestnut and ricotta ravioli with duck was outstanding.
A favorite place of we chose to celebrate Valentine’s Day did not disappoint. Table was ready and our server was very good. Tried a couple new cocktails, mule and a muddled margarita. Very good (way too much salt on the rim). Apps, entrees and dessert were delicious. Had the flat iron steak and she had the salmon. Sooo good. Blueberry hand pie to close was just right. Diet restarts tomorrow.
There are several vegetarian options that can be tailored for a vegan (one of our party is vegan). That makes dining at Cardwell's pleasant for our group. The food is very good (not exceptional in our opinion). They have a nice selection of beers, ales, and stouts if you lean towards fermented brews. The restaurant ambiance is nice and the noise level is not very high for the number of people in the restaurant. It is a reliable choice for a good dining experience and we dine there at least once per month.
We enjoy going to Cardwell's as the food and service are always excellent, but I, personally, judge more on the quality of food, and Cardwell's food is excellent. I have never had a bad meal there.
We particularly enjoy going there for lunch and then attending a matinee at the theater inside the mall. It is so convenient to go there to eat with so many nice retail stores in the same location.
Sat in an alcove which reduced noise and was good for conversation.
I am a healthy eater and this is not the place for that! While they have salads and soups, they are such large portions, with no option for smaller appetites.
That is the only reason I would not refer a friend here. If you like a lot of food, the food is great and huge portions!
Food was good as always, although I was perplexed about the fried oyster blt, where the flavors seemed to compete with one another.
Cardwell’s at the Plaza has to fill the roles of both a destination restaurant, where people make reservations and plan to linger, and a mall restaurant, where people want to drop in and find a table waiting when they tire of lugging their shopping bags around and need a break between tasks. It plays those sometimes contradictory roles surprisingly well. The food is both comforting and creative. The service adapts to the shopper who needs to refuel ASAP and get somewhere and to the group who that wants time to chat over three courses and then chat over coffee. There are glitches, but very few. Caldwell’s is great for a special occasion—and for a quick bite between shooping tasks or before or after the movie.
This was my wife's favorite to go to restaurant for special occasions. There has been a steady decline on vegetarian entree to only a veggy sandwich. There is no attempt to modify exiting sides on other entrees to become an optional "entree" Most other dishes have all kinds of vegetarian items. We are told they are all set as pre fix and cannot take from one for another- too bad.
A great place for dinner after a movie. The calamari and salad were great as always. It's one of our favorite date experiences.
