Great food as always. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious and service was better than expected. It’s an odd location but once you get inside the entire mood changes. Very nice atmosphere and food does not take too long to arrive. Would reccomend.
Kinda out dated menu prices very high for what they serve was kinda disappointed in the whole experience
Waitress was great but too busy food portions were small for Italian food that is highly priced. Staff overall was great but food was just mediocre. Next time we will go to Yannis in Newington
I always have a great meal at Carbone's.
The food, service and atmosphere is always excellent.
My only small concern is that my Linguini Vongole was very salty.
We will always go back for our special occasions.
You simply can’t beat Carbones for a night out and a great meal. It’s by far worth every penny and one of our go-to places. Don’t hesitate to visit either location at any time.
We had the seven course Roman dinner. Way too much food! This is a compliment not a criticism. Every course was delicious. We loved every bite! The Caesar salad is always great here and the table side service is a nice touch. Thanks for a great birthday dinner.
Staff was great...FOOD FABULOUS we had a wonderful relaxing time.
The food and dining experience was very good, however, I would like to see a more extensive menu.
It was our 27th wedding anniversary!! What a wonderful evening!! Thank you!!
Old school attention to detail and quality authentic Italian fare.
Everthing was wonderfull - very happy with our visit and your service, food, etal
Wonderful meal at a restaurant that is timeless! So many wonderful memories of happy occasions, delicious meals and unmatched service at Carbone’s! 80 years and still a gem!
For a quiet, romantic meal, Carbone's is a great choice. The food is always good, and if you want to make the meal a little more special you can have several options prepared "table-side".
We enjoyed our evening there, great service food and drinks were excelent !!!
We went the day after taxes were due and had a very enjoyable, relaxing and delicious meal.
If you crave Italian then look no further than Carbone's in Hartford. It is the very best in the area. Nothing comes close to the flavor on all their meals. Just the right amount of food as well cooked to perfection. The martini's are wonderful and they have an extensive wine list as well.
Always enjoy our meal at Carbone's. Staff is fantastic taking care of you very well and getting your meal to you warm and delicious.
We go there often as when you find a good place you got to keep it going.
My wife and I along with another couple had great seats awsome dinner with a nice bottle red wine. The table side spinach salad was amazing and our waiter, waitress along with hostess were amazing.
Excellent as always!!!!! If you’ve never been, you must go!
Went here with 6 people for my birthday on a friday night. The decor and old school vibe was the best part about this restaurant. The drinks were fantastic. However, they seemed to be understaffed and the service was a bit slow. The food was delicious, but overpriced. As an italian family off the boat from Italy- we know quality italian. This place does the trick if you want to overpay by $5/dish.
we were celebrating 2 birthdays, the food was outstanding!!! Shibohn and Mark were our servers and we described them as the A Team....Cant say enough about the service and the excellent food!!! All of us had Cesars salad, which is prepared tableside....always the best Cesars salad. We had the filet topped with poached lobster it was the special that night it was OUTSTANDING!!! Dessert was the torte di Angelo.....my son's favorite...a chocolate lovers dream come true. My husband had the cheesecake...that was great as well. The service and the food you get at Carbones is 2nd to none!
Carbone's has become one of our favorite restaurants so we selected it to celebrate our 40th and my 71st. which makes Carbone's nine years older than I am. Our reservations were for 6pm on a weeknight so we were seated promptly (there is often a wait on weekends even with reservations because this is the type of restaurant that you want to linger at) and greeted immediately by our waitress. One of the things I love about Carbone's is the old world ambiance and this is one of the places where you can get Caesar salad prepared tableside and both the pleasure of watching it being prepared and the enjoyment of eating it would have allowed us both to leave happy right then. But no! My wife had a steak which was perfectly done and I had their veal and eggplant al forno which was fabulous. We were not planning on dessert but they kindly brought a couple of pastries with a candle in it. Our waitress was great and answered our menu questions and offered recommendations. I believe that many if not most of the staff have worked there a long time so there don't seem to be the kinds of glitches that you get at many other restaurants. This was probably our sixth dinner here in the last several years and the reasons that they have attained their ripe old age are crystal clear...a lovely ambiance, welcoming professional staff and truly outstanding food.
Family favorite for over 50 years. Had their Roman Feast with wine pairing in celebration of their 80th year. Attentive staff without being overbearing. Fantastic food - all 7 courses. Have yet to be disappointed.
Old world charm with great food made with quality ingredients served by professionals. Would recommend the table side prepared salads and deserts!
Always a great time. The food, drinks and staff make the meal wonderful.
The food was very disappointing, particularly given the high prices. The caesar salad, which cost $14.00 per person and which was prepared table-side, had hardly any garlic and no discernible taste of anchovies. The croutons were hard, not crisp and chewy. Fried Calamari was greasy. A supposedly signature dish, Carbone Carbonara pasta, was glutinous--the peas were hard. There is way too much anisette in the sausage, which really should not be in such a sauce, anyway. The bacon had little flavor. The whole thing is a peculiar orange pink color--it did not taste authentic at all. My friends had the chicken Marsala, which weirdly is on the bone, and it was okay; and they had the gnocchi dish with squash and Brussels sprouts that was underseasoned. The whole thing with an inexpensive bottle of wine and one cocktail was $200.00 for 3 people. The service was pleasant, and it is a nice looking restaurant, but in terms of the food you would be much better off going to a family style traditional Italian restaurant that is less pretentious and less expensive.
We never have had a bad meal here. Love this restaurant.
The service experience I received here was top notch and exactly what I'd expect for an anniversary night at a more upscale restaurant. The wait staff was prompt, kind, and knowledgeable. An opportunity for this portion of the experience to be improved, I suggest: please have your waiters be more upfront with pricing and up-charges. I say this because i ordered a meal from a verbally informed special by the waiter and there was no mention of cost before ordering. When I got the bill the price was much higher than I'd have agree'd to if I knew about it beforehand. It could be as simple as just leaving behind a specials menu after the waiter has gone over them verbally. Also, It was suggested to us to get an extra shrimp on an appetizer I ordered so it would be better for sharing. However the way the waiter carried the suggestion lead us to believe he was doing something special for us and it would be for free, it was very not free. I totally understand coming to a fancier restaurant means you will spend more money but there should be a balance between providing a special atmosphere and being honest with your customers. It isn't worth while to be leaving a sour taste in your customer's mouth.
The atmosphere inside was romantic, dimly lit, comfy seating, warm temperature. I did notice a fair amount of children in proximity to us, although that night they were quiet throughout the meal. I could see them being a problem if you were unlucky and it could most certainly ruin a special night to be hearing that.
I could tell the quality of the ingredients and the meat were really good. Our meals (chicken francaise and a blue crab stuffed veal dish) were prepared nicely. The chicken francaise was fantastic, it wasn't on the menu but they were more than willing to accommodate us, kudos for that! The veal dish, although prepared and cooked well, was unfortunately very flavorless and not worth what I spent on it.
The food is absolutely amazing !! I have never has a bad anything from here. Service is phenomenal. Could never go wrong here.
Food was great.
We had the most awesome waiter/waitress team. They were fun and always there when we needed them. Our food was amazing and it was a very special birthday for my mother. I recommend Carbones!!!!!
Great food, service and ambience
Very disappointed with the menu. I do not go very often. It has definitely changed since my last visit. The two things I was looking forward to were escargot and creme burlee. The choice are a lot less from what I remember. Then did have nice choices for special. A little pricey.
Not as good as previous visits. Bartenders catered more to regulars. Food was off a little
Our first time here, and very impressed! Already planning our next trip there! Had the ambiance of being in a NYC Italian restaurant, with the personal attention from the owners/family. Dim lights, great music (Sinatra, etc), incredible food! Fantastic service. A must do if you're anywhere near Hartford. Just don't get turned off by the neighborhood.
Amazing service and food! Definitely will be back!
Food and waiters were great. Host downright rude, almost enough to make us not come back.
Second visit while visiting Hartford. Fond memories of our first visit several years ago. This time? Sorry. Clams casino were barely warm, I should say that undercooked is clearly better than overcooked, but 4 expensive clams and not quite a classic recipe.
My wife's carbonara was a murky mess, too much very busy content. If there was egg, cheese, and bacon it was not discernable. My veal, with cool polenta underwhelmed.
The kicker? Unreal and unexpected price of wine by the glass.
Simply outstanding - in every way! The food, the service, the ambiance. It was all perfect.
Great place for a birthday celebration. We enjoyed the whole evening....plenty of time for drinks, appetizers and our meal. Will go again.
Went for Valentine's Day, food was outstanding, I had Filet and Lobster as main dish with spinach and mashed potatoes, if I could have licked the plate I would have :) . Started with a meatball appetizer with Ricotta cheese that was all world. Kristine had pasta carbanora which I had the luxury of finishing later that night. We haven't been to Carbone's in a while and wondered why we don't go more often. Wine is priced very fairly and the Grand Marnier is up to par and the expresso martini was excellent.
