The food was quite nice, though hardly exceptional. My husband enjoyed the pasta with clams; the minestrone was not that good and tasted way too heavily of fennel. The veal parmesan was well prepared, but I cannot say I have never had better. But- I would never go back due to two areas: noise level and service. The room is small, the tables crowded together and all of the surfaces are hard. Result, we had to shout to hear each other's conversation. The worst, however, was the service. The waiter ignored us the entire time. To place our order, we had to get other servers to contact him two and three times. He never asked if anything was to our liking. When we voiced our unhappiness he shrugged and left. When we described our experience to the manager, he smiled and basically said "Oh, well". Believe me, the food is not worth this kind of experience.

This place is a definite favorite. I love the nostalgia of the waiter's outfits and the overall ambiance of the place. Pasta was amazing. Breads and cheeses with cured meats were served apon arival. The people next to us had the veal parm and it looked huge. I will be back soon for sure!

Completely over the top in a fake and bad way. I took clients there so thank goodness I didn't pay this bill out of pocket but DO NOT allow them to just bring food out. First, the food is nothing special and while they try to feign this old world authentic italian feel, I have friends who are from Italy and they would scoff at the menu. Caviar on mozzarella cheese? C'Mon, and for $110 this is egregious and they should be warning you of the price. In short this place is WAY overrated and over priced for the quality of the food. I'm honestly surprised it's still around.

One of the best! Service and food was amazing. Veal Parm and Lobster Ravioli were the best I've ever had which is saying a lot. Plan rezzies ahead as it gets tight sometimes.

Food and service were excellent but the music was much too loud. I asked for it to be turned down and they did not. Apparently, somebody likes 1960s, pre-Beatles rock and roll.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. I was not impressed. The beef carpaccio was covered with walnuts and a little too much olive oil. The veal parmigiana was not pounded as I am used to, so I was disappointed. The spicy rigatoni was a small dish even though ordered as an entree. I was not happy with the dessert selection. The waiters placed the dishes on the table with utensils to serve yourself!

Food was obviously good but so over priced and the service was actually terrible. The staff completely ignored us. They were rude and not welcoming.

Everything was excellent at Carbone. From the mozzarella made in house to the carrot cake dessert, it was an experience to remember from beginning to end.

The food is good-very good but, in my opinion, not exceptional. There must be 50 Italian restaurants in NYC that easily match or surpass the food experience at Carbone. Also, the restaurant is much too noisy, as, for whatever reason, they insist on blaring music at a very loud level. Most important, Carbone is VERY expensive. Two of us generated a $400 bill (tip included) with: one appetizer two pastas A fish entree (Branzino @$95!!!!!) 3 glasses of wine 1 cocktail. Seems like it should have cost 1/2 as much
