Carbone is an Italian-American restaurant created by Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick. The restaurant pays homage to the essence of the great Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century in New York, where delicious, exceptionally well-prepared food was served in settings that were simultaneously elegant, comfortable and unpretentious. The food nods to that same history, but take its culinary cues from the great talents and techniques of the present and of the future. Familiar dishes like Seafood Salad, Linguini Vongole, Lobster Fra Diavola, Chicken Scarpariello and Veal Parmesan elevated to a new level.

    Dined at Carbone with my parents before catching a late night show at Terra Blues and it was such an outstanding experience. Our table wasn't great as it was in the back, dark room next to fluorescent lighting from the kitchen but it didn't impact the overall experience. The staff was all extremely friendly, including our server Eddie who was very knowledgeable on the menu and provided great vegetarian recommendations and made sure to take extra care of us. The meal was outstanding and if I wasn't so full, I'm sure their dessert would've been spectacular! Bravo!

    getting to the table was on time; service and food is very good.a big wine list but extremly expensive- took me 10 minutes to find a $ 95 pinot noir which wasn't very good... but overall a nice place to dine ..

    The food is good, but the staff lets you know they are doing you a favor allowing them to come to their restaurant. The reservation situation is horrible. They only put a limited number of tables on Open Table. They obviously hold most of the tables for the "in crowd". They are inflexible with reservations and could care less

    Our reservation was November 9th 2016 at 9:45 PM, we got there a bit early to see if they could accommodate us and they did. We've both been to the location in Vegas but It was our first time at this one in New York. We started off with the chopped salad which was very nice. Our second course was the Linguini with clams - this dish wasn't the best as it was quite salty and something I wouldn't order again. To top things off we got the veal parmigiana and an order of spicy rigatoni vodka, both were incredible and a must have!!Overall, I would most definitely recommend this place and will be returning when I visit NY next.

    very hard to classify this restaurant one of the hardest tables in NY we reserved 6 wks in advance for a 5:45 Sunday meal! Ambiance is very old school Frank Sinatra recordings playing in the background a small place with close together tables no place for quiet romantic conversation here.... wine list extensive but expensive 3X list or more meatball antipasto excellent pastas are to die for service quite good and friendly this was our second time here and we would probably return even though there are many more affordable and available establishments in NYC BUT this is Carbone and you have to go at least once

    I ordered the hyped meatballs and vodka penne pasta. It was mediocre at best. Such a disappointment considering the hefty price tag.

    I just found this place to be too gimmicky. There were several wines we ordered and all out of stock?? The food was just ok and Americanized Italian. We asked for Ceasar Salad, were told they were out of it and when we were walking out the door, the same waiter was making it at another table. The price was excessive for what we had.

    Solid Italian food in the heart of the Villlage! The Rigatoni is phenomenal, as are the wine pairings. Service was friendly and prompt, appetizers were great also. Decor is fun, really takes you back to a different time. Definitely check it out.

    Food was great. the main problem stemmed from the closeness of the tables. The waiters butt was constantly in our faces as he served the table next to us. Kind of kills the appetite.

    I used to LOVE Carbone; it was where I went for special occasions. For each of my last three meals, they have squeezed me and my dining mate between two other couples with no room to get out without moving tables, had slightly "forced" authentic Italian service and disappointing food relative to how it was ~3 years ago - the bread came out very cold.

    Exceptional atmosphere and ambiance. Food was very good, not great. VERY overpriced. Service was less than stellar (had to keep asking for another glass of wine, had to ask for bread, never received the "cheese" that every other table seemed to get). We seemed to be annoying to our waiter every time we asked. I don't think we'll go back.

    In terms of the food, everything we ate was delicious. My boyfriend and I shared the rigatoni with spicy vodka sauce, veal parm, and carrot cake, which was more than enough food (especially considering you get complimentary bread, pickled vegetables, cheese, and meat to start). My only critique was with one very brusk, miserable server we had. Our main server was sweet, but the one who brought us the veal definitely acted like he hated his job. Also, I'm not sure if this is what the staff is trained to do, but he cut our veal in "half" before asking us if we wanted it split up, and he gave my boyfriend the much larger "half" in addition to the bone, as if to say, "this is a MAN's portion." A little sexist for 2016. He also could have cut the veal lengthwise to make two even pieces, so it was a little strange. We're big fans of tomato sauce, and he swept away the serving plate with leftover sauce before we could say anything. We asked our main server for a side of sauce, which he kindly brought out. Aside from that, we had a great time, and the carrot cake was the sleeper hit. The room also had a really fun, old school vibe. Will be back!

    Very pushy maitre. Trying to rip out cash from you. Suggesting only expensive choices and being very unpolite. A pity cause food was very tasty.

    Great service and food. The experience is slightly theatrical but in a self-aware way. Waiter would sing along to songs, pull up a chair next to us, in a relaxed familiarity. Pork chop was delicious.

    This was our first time at Carbone. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. The ambiance and music is terrific. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. I think we should have been told that the portions are large and more than enough to share. We ended up taking home a large portion of our meals. It is expensive and we could have shared the appetizer and main course and still had food to spare. Otherwise, the experience was a good one, and the next time we go back we will know to share.

    Just fantastic. Just the right amount I nostalgia, more so in the energy...the vibe was straight out of a memory, - great memory of how Italian restaurants used to be and how an old school mentality can live within a modern upscale world. Food prepared to perfection without compromising the traditional approach. Perfect balance in the ambiance. Music selection was perfect as it helped paint the perfect picture of a true Italian setting.

    this was our second time at Carbone, but it was disappointing. The service is still a lot of fun--it is theater and very well performed. But the food was really lackluster. Pasta was overcooked. Porterhouse steak was chewy and underdone. A side order of corn that was highly recommended by our server was mushy and a lot liked canned corn. This is becoming a theme restaurant and the food is mediocre.

    Hi, Everything was great. But they charged me twice and since they don't manage themselves with a direct phone number, just by email they haven't answered back and I need this transaction to be void. This was Friday and I still haven't received an answer from them.

    This place is all show biz. There is a real effort to invoke Italian restaurants of an earlier era. It was loud. I felt a bit rushed. The food was not uniformly good. The pasta with spicy vodka sauce was mushy. The real problem with Carbone's is it is crazy expensive. $28 for that pasta- $11 for a beer. For those prices, I expected more.

    18$ for a bottle of acqua panna is too much. Same for a plate of pasta at 31$. But meatballs were very good.

    It really has a cool fun vibe. The people are great and the food was very good, but a little less refined than I was hoping for the wait and the price. The wine markup is about 4X, which I think is a little ridiculous. Also, It's very hard to get a reasonable time and reservation but curiously when we were there, there were plenty of open tables that could have been filled.
