Carbonara Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
Ordered a grouper fish dish that was very bad. Server was wonderful in immediately substituting a tried- and true shrimp and scallop cappellini entree which I had ordered on a prior occasion. Excellent service. Just ordered the wrong item. Other pasta entrees have all been very good in the past.
This place is one of our favorite local places to grab a quality dinner that was reasonably priced. They have great specials, especially the $10 pasta and half off wine on Sundays. The food is always consistently great, as well as, the service and knowledgeable wait staff.
BUTTT... the last 3 TIMES we have been there (Friday and two Sundays) the service was SO slow. We looked at the clock and it had been 40 mins from when we were seated (without napkins, silverware or menus) until we got our bottle of wine...
Please, Please, hire more help!
We don't want to stop eating at your restaurant, but this has happened one too many times... Luckily the kitchen can keep up and the food comes out pretty quickly, but the servers CANNOT. I felt so bad for our awesome waiter who was obviously so slammed with tables.
I cannot believe I haven't been here before now. The food was excellent, my friend and I each had the fresh pasta. The texture was perfect and the sauces were out of this world. She had the Pasta Carbonara (because one of us had to because of the name) and I had the crab cake with spaghetti with a saffron cream sauce and sun dried tomatoes. Delicious!!! And to start we shared the calamari which was lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. We are already talking about our next visit. What a gem!
We have been here several times as we live close by. We chose to dine there on Monday night, to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday... pretty big meal.
They were actually pretty busy. Food was predictably good. Never a bad meal here.
The service was not good. There was one head server, and he had a real good command of the menu. There were two team members, and that reduced to one by the end of the night, but the head guy was responsible for all the tables and like a realtor with too many listings, someone is not going to get the attention deserved.
Water refills were spotty. We were never offered another round of bread, and there were five of us, so bread went fast. We finally were asked if we wanted another round of wine. The check took forever... the meal in general languished. The bartender, who had like two tables in her area occupied, never came out from her lair once to see if anyone at any of the tables needed anything at all.
The prices here are not outrageous, but are high enough that the service should never be the issue. It was tonight .
Neighborhood Italian restaurant. Appears to be popular with locals but the food was disappointing. Tasted store bought,?not fresh. Shared a antipasto, had 2 pasta dishes, and a Napoleon. Brought our own bottle of wine and the bill (all in) was $80?! Not worth it and won’t do it again.
We have never been disappointed at CT...the food is excellent. Sunday night's are special pasta nights as well as 1/2 price bottles of select wines. It is an incredible bargain for the delicious food served. Fried oysters were a special that evening and were amazing. Highly recommend.
Carbonara Trattoria is a long time favorite but tends to stumble when there's a large crowd. With friends on a crowded Sunday night it was 2 hours from the time we were seated until entrees were served and a full 20 minutes before menus were presented. Apologies from the wait staff or host would have been appreciated and gone a long way to make the evening more enjoyable. But unexplained delays just take the edge off of what otherwise would have been a wonderful evening.
This neighborhood gem consistently delivers quality food and knowledgeable, attentive service. Whether going traditional Italian or enjoying one of the chef's varying specials (lamb shank was a feature on our most recent visit) food is always fresh, well prepared and attractively presented. Wine list is generous as is the selection of by-the-glass offerings. We are frequent diners, often introducing friends for their first-time experience, and we have never been disappointed.
This is just the best Italian in Atlanta now. I'm told we have one of the chefs from VINI VEDI VICI and we LOVED that place What makes this restaurant spectacular is one server - Janet. She makes everyone feel at home, gives specific advice on the dishes, remembers you from last time. Just everything you could ever want in a server. This owner has a gold mine here and deservedly so. He just needs to quit trying to "man" the seating station and let someone efficient do that job while he schmoozes with all the guests! A great find in Dunwoody. Soon you won't be able to get in which I hate!
In general, the meals served were good, with the exception of the Trout entrée. This was served, along with four other meals at our table, but it was barely lukewarm. When a complaint was made to the wait person, she immediately apologized and returned this entrée to the kitchen. When the trout was served for the second time, it was still not hot -- slightly lukewarm at best. Very disappointing indeed! I thought that the wait person might speak to the owner/manager about this issue, but instead she simply asked, "What do you want us to do?" -- in a not too pleasant manner. She was told that obviously the meal for the person who ordered the trout had been ruined by this time. I would hope that, should we return to this restaurant, our experience next time will be much more pleasant, and the food ordered will be hot when served.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend who told us that this restaurant was the closest thing to authentic Italian food she had had in a restaurant and she is Italian and cooks Italian food from scratch. She was right! The food here is delicious! The four of us had the calamari and fried green tomatoes as an appetizer with wine and liquor drinks. Our main courses ranged from veal and steak to pasta bolognese. We ordered 4 different desserts and all of it was terrific! We will definitely return and tell our friends how great it is! The restaurant was sooo busy that our waiter got a little help from the man that I would assume is either the owner or the manager so that helped speed up our service, which we really appreciated!
