Carbon County Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Recommended by others from Cody, Wyoming. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Excellent service from Stefanie. Good advice on entrees and she accommodated us for our selections with table setups to enjoy our meal. We were a little early, went to adjacent bar for a drink and it was nice to take our drinks with us to the outdoor table. All personnel were helpful and enthused about the evening as it was our 39th wedding anniversary and we did not tell anyone of the special occasion. The online reservation was easy to do and something new for us to try. We liked that it works well and is easy to do. Thank you for a great experience in dining that you provide. It was wonderful, great food, and enjoyable.
Our table was ready for 6, and our order was taken. The waiting staff was a little harried, but very gracious, The group loved their meals, especially the wonderful steaks and beef specials. All was delicious and plentiful. Always a fine dining experience for us!
Very accommodating with changing seating to inside when it began to rain. Delicious prawns. Both grilled Caesar and caprese salad were very fresh and perfectly dressed. Steaks were almost fork tender and perfectly cooked. Great local grass-fed. Wine list deep and reasonably priced. Worth a 120mile trip especially with views from Cody
We always go out of our way to come to Carbon County when in town, but last Saturday was very disappointing. Our reservation was for 7:30 we were told by special request that an order of Mussels would be held for us. When we got in after a short wait we were told there where no Mussels but the waitress would make it up to us. We waited 30 minutes for our salads Our meal wasn't served to us until 9:00 & nothing even mentIoned about the Mussels. I've worked in restaurants myself & always comped a drink or something after a long wait or mistake on the restaurants fault. Very diappointed .
This is the only true steakhouse in the wonderful town of Red Lodge. Located in Montana I expected more of their steak s and cuts of meat. The steaks were just ok. The ambiance, menu selection, drinks, service and value were excellent. Choice of potato, salad and bread were all included and the prices were very fair. My husband got the ribeye and the cut of meat was very poor. Although cooked perfectly the steak was thin and under seasoned. Any good steak starts with a good cut of meat. I got the local cut of the day, a 6oz filet. The cut was fine but the steak lacked any seasoning (not even a pinch of salt) and it was over seared. I like a good char on my steak but this had a burnt taste. Overall we were disappointed. If they would improve their steaks this place could be special. The salad, potato, bread and drinks we ordered were great. The service was excellent and the ambiance had a true Montana feel. However the star of any steakhouse should be the steak and it was not. Please improve the steaks and we will be back.
We had not been to the Carbon county steak house in a couple of years. The food was wonderful as we rememberd it to be. However, the prices had gone way up, and the portions have gone down. We had never heard of a 5 oz. steak. Compared to another resturant that we frequent, the smallest steak there is 8oz. They did offer an 8 oz steak, but it was more money still. When we got our orders, I'm certain the steak could not have been anymore than 4 oz. One in our party ordered Chicken Masala and I have never seen such a small portion of chicken. Good lord, chicken is cheap! The mashed potatoes were metered out, looked like an ice cream scooper portion. We were embarrassed, as we had told our friends how supurb the CCSH was. They need to understand that people want to feel like they are getting their money's worth, That was not the case, we are not ever going back.
The service and quality of food is excellent, as well as the wine selection. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, yet offers an upscale feel. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend this establishment to others. We will be back the next time we're in Red Lodge.
Three of us went to dinner. One member of the party ordered steak and was very pleased with his dinner.
The other two of us ordered the salmon that was on the menu that night and it was not very good. We both usually like salmon very much, but the preparation was pretty bad. We ate the meal, but would not order it again.
I have found that the food at Carbon Co, can be excellent or pretty marginal.
Not too much consistency. Because of the inconsistency, I usually go to a different restaurant for a nice evening out. The consistency of a great meal is so important because the price of dinner at Carbon Co. is very high in relation to quality. Don't mind paying a good price for a good dinner.
I have eaten at The Carbon County steakhouse many times over the years when I have been to Red Lodge, but have not been there for about a year. We were a big group and many of us ordered the pasta dish with the buffalo meatballs. The dish was so spicy that it was barely eaten. Everyone at the table tasted it and we all agreed that it was awful. My Cesar salad was boring and the salmon was dry. There were a few people that thought their dinners were okay, but the overall impression was that we did not get our money's worth. One good note--the deserts we ordered were out of this world--great!
We sat in the bar indoors, a lot of people walking through to find a hostess that was seldom at her podium.
Food was not as good as our last visit a year ago and the service is not as warm. Strange combinations of fruit and grains and sauces and the presentation is not as skilled. We were really looking forward to a wonderful meal. It fell short
This is a good steakhouse with a good wine list. A combination not often found in a community this size. Food and wines by the glass were good quality. We felt a little rushed by servers, but we didn't alter our pace. Ambiance and noise levels were fine. Would have preferred outdoors, but it was a beautiful and busy summer night.
Had a very good steak. Salad and potato was very good. Lobster was tough and without flavor. Basil butter was funky and not great. They did compensate us $20 for the inferior lobster. If Carbon County Steakhouse wants to be 'BIG TIME' then they need to get the lobster thing squared away. They seem like a place that learns as they go, so give them a shot. Go to Red Lodge Ales before and have a real nice appetizer as their beers are top notch.
