On July 15th, 2009, Caravaggio, opened its doors to New York City for the first time. Located at 23 E. 74th Street, the Bruno brothers' latest cutting-edge concept carries on the long-lived family tradition of serving great food to our devoted patrons and to the greater New York area.

Our attention to detail, in both food and service, will continue to be our main goal. We believe in nourishing body and soul, which is the wisdom of our Salerno ancestors from Southern Italy. Giuseppe Bruno, Cosimo Bruno, and their staff, along with the remaining fratelli Bruno, will strive to continue this heartfelt tradition.

I have dined all around NY and the world and this was an experience. The restaurant was quiet, nice ambiance, and the service stellar! Every course served presidential, impeccable timing placing all dishes for everyone at the table. Presentation of the food, beautiful. MOST IMPORTANT, the dishes were unique without being intimidating....I loved the Ravioli first plate with branzino and artichokes..... The Arctic Char second plate with Figs.....delicious..... The 3 soups were fabulous, I had the garlic, the other 2 had the pasta fagiolle and the last had a bisque of Lobster..... The other parties enjoyed their meals as well... The wine list extensive and the waiters were very knowledgeable.... I would definitely go back to this restaurant, in a heartbeat!

Distinguished atmosphere, excellent service. I had pasta primevera with crab and shrimp and it was excellent. Wife had the "best scallops" she has ever eaten.

I went there for Easter brunch. The decor was fantastic. My friend Sam was nice and helpful as always as he has always been in the past three years. The lamb and lasagna are too good to be expressed by word. No other restaurant offers such extensive menu as Caravaggio does, especially during holidays.

Probably the best Italian restaurant in NYC. The food is fantastic. Despite what you like, you can always find something you like. Definately try their daily special. Allow the sommelier to recommend you a bottle of wine. You will never regret! Place you can go for everyday dinning and special occasion

I've been to Carravagio several times. Each time it seems to lose a little something. After some confusion with the hostess about my Open Table Reservation, we were promptly seated. The restaurant is extremely cozy and attractive and the service was impeccable throughout. However, there are no longer price-fixed luncheon specials on the menu (as so indicated on the restaurant's website) and their new menu lacks many of the former excellent items. We started with aneggplant parm appetizer which was quite ordinary and poorly heated. I ordered the Bronzino entree which was OK, but my wife had the veal scallopini which was extremely chewy and salty. The dessert consisting of Sorbet, Gelato and berries was outstanding, but dessert should not be the best part of the meal. Carravagio is pricey and situated in an area of NYC where there are much better places to dine with more value for your money. I will not be returning.

overpriced below average food, pretentious atmosphere and quite unprofessional service.
List of specials is longer than the regular menu and is recited by the waiter for at least 10-15 min; why would you have so many specials when there is a standard menu?! Because the special dishes are the same as in the menu, only are charged at a premium rate. The waiter, after knocking over and spilling the glass of white wine, did bring the wine to replenish, however, he poured the wrong and cheap wine into the glass that still had some $25/glass wine left in it. Totally unacceptable. The food is "diner" quality, unfortunately.
Overall poor experience, can't recommend to anyone.

Never disappoints in any way! Great food, great service, and you can actually have a conversation! Not a lot of restaurants that provide that sort of environment. There is not a bad table in the room. All 4tops or more, with space between them!!! So, dining alone or a couple, you are never jammed in between othe guests. You actually have some degree of privacy! How rare is that?!?!?! Love dining there!

Superb in every way.
My husband and I had New Year's Eve dinner at Caravaggio and we will return well before 12/31/2018. The service was excellent--beginning with our ten minute wait at the bar. The bartender was extremely gracious and, importantly, made great cocktails. The service staff during our meal was extremely adroit in serving a large number of people in an efficient and gracious manner. Somehow, they really succeeded in making you feel as if you were part of a large family celebration--all of whom were glad to be there. As for the food, it was delicious. We had a simple salad to begin and it was a delicious mix of greens/manchego cheese and a very light dressing. I had the rack of lamb--which was perfectly prepared and presented. My husband had veal stuffed angolotti which were the best he/we have ever had in terms of flavor and overall texture. Lastly, as to the wine, we discovered a Calabrian wine which was at the very low end of the price range but was absolutely delicious. Truly. We look forward to our next visit to Caravaggio--which will be soon.

We were looking for a New Year's Eve menu that wasn't Pre Fixe and this was a perfect choice. Atmosphere was soft and comforting with very good acoustics to keep down the noise. Tables are spaced nicely, especially for NYC. The food, wine and service were all excellent. Can't wait to go back.

The greeting people which includes the check in person and the coat check person were very cold and unfriendly. We really thought all of the waiting staff were excellent. Food was excellent. Did not like our table felt like we were tourist stuck in the corner, even though we live three blocks away. The whole feel is just a little stiff for such a fine restaurant. We will be back because of the food quality, hope our experiences better next time. This was our granddaughter’s 18th birthday, so everything could’ve been better.

This was our second year spending Christmas Eve at Caravaggio's. The ambience and service are impeccable and the food is exceptional. On this very family-oriented evening, they insure that the only thing you need to think about is spending time around the table with your family. Leave everything else to them because they know how to make you feel at home while dining in a NYC restaurant.
