Caravaggio New York
Our attention to detail, in both food and service, will continue to be our main goal. We believe in nourishing body and soul, which is the wisdom of our Salerno ancestors from Southern Italy. Giuseppe Bruno, Cosimo Bruno, and their staff, along with the remaining fratelli Bruno, will strive to continue this heartfelt tradition.
Beautiful restaurant with fantastic food and ambiance.
Extensive menu of specials are always fun to hear the captains share. Delicious options you don't see on other Italian restaurant menus. Good choices of wine. Pleasant room and tables decently spaced.
Beautiful setting - great service - food should be more refined in taste and preparation: it’s a little too savory, thus shutting down taste subtleties
If you're fortunate to have Tony and/or Samas waitstaff, you're in for a treat. Tony recites to specials as an Operatic aires. The maitre d, Mario, works the room as if it were a gathering of family members. A special place! Enjoy.
We had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner - the restaurant is just lovely, the service is excellent and the food classic italian. Very enjoyable!
This is my fourth year at Caravaggio for thanksgiving dinner. Iris absolutely fabulous! Different from other find dining, there is no pre fix menu. You can order whatever you want. The lamb and turkey were wonderful! Had a great Amarone and a French Chardonnay!
This is not your traditional red-sauce Italian. Instead it is a very sophisticated and "grown up" gathering place for the Upper East side neighborhood west of Lexington Avenue. The daily specials are numerous and reflect the best ingredients of the season. The food is creative and delicious and the service impeccable - well worth the cost.
Great for special occasions.
Finest chef In NYC!!!!
Spectacular meal
We went there twice in one week. Very good food and excellent service. We particularly liked Tony-the waiter from Montenegro- who knew the long list of specials every time. We enjoyed chatting with him.
Fantastic place! The food and wine never disappoint me! All the daily specials are amazing!
We had a late lunch so it was very quiet but the food was excellent.
Creative, fun decor and high end subtle cuisine. We've traveled
a lot in Italy and were super impressed by the delicate and well executed
dishes. We'd return and would definitely recommend.
This was my first visit to Caravaggio, with a friend for lunch. It is a lovely restaurant with tables spaced at a good distance apart and excellent, beautifully presented food. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Our carbonara pasta was the best I’ve had in NY.
Great, great dining experience
Always wonderful
As usual a perfect evening with perfectly delicious food!!!
Lovely, elegant
Good food, good service, terrible table. Be certain to ask for the back room because we were stuck in an alcove with a screen to shield us from the wait table and bathroom. At these prices this was not OK. We made the reservation online which was possibly a mistake.
The staff is by far superior than any restaurant I frequent, especially Tony and Sam.
I thank them and the rest of the staff for always making the evening a great pleasure!

Wonderful food, beautiful setting and excellent service. Just effin eat here
Excellent in every way from start to finish
Consistently excellent food with warm, professional and attentive service. A classic upper east side restaurant, with tables spaced far apart in an elegant atmosphere inhabited by a tony, aging clientele that will make you feel like the youngest millennial in the house when in fact you are in your your 60’s. There are about twenty specials every day, with seasonal favorites like white truffles in the fall. This is a place to go for pleasurable old favorites beautifully executed and served with old world finesse. A classic. I love it.
Great food and service, while the food is expensive, the wine list is absurdly expensive. Found only one bottle under $100!
Food was delicious! Service was very attentive and gracious! Beautiful dining with lovely art all around. Perfect evening for my sister and I.
Fabulous food, very attentive service, beautiful location!
As always, the staff is very attentive, especially Tony and Sam. The Maitre-d, Mario, was exceptionally gracious.
Best restaurants in NYC- maybe in the USA
Great food, great service!
Great setting, superb food and a wonderfully engaging and accommodating staff - a pleasure to dine here
Liked the decor, modern and artsy, the service was decent but a bit slow and the disappointing part was that my son's dish arrived completely wrong, and the rest of us were left with our hot dishes sitting while we (politely) waited for the kitchen to remake my son's dish. Nevertheless, the food was very good. We thought it was weird that the list of specials was about a seven minute speech, that really is a lot to grasp verbally, maybe less specials or print them out? Lastly I did appreciate that they were happy to make substitutions on the pasta dishes. Will probably try again when I am in NY.
Excellent from start to finish. This was our first time to dine at Caravaggio. From our first experience having a drink at the bar to finishing dessert, service was excellent. My zucchini appetizer was delicious. Zucchini florettes stuffed with ricotta and red sauce complement. All the food was top notch, fresh and well prepared. Loved Caravaggio and will return soon!
Amazing zucchini blossoms
Just a couple blocks from our home, it has become favorite neighborhood restaurant...yes, it’s pricey but it’s on the upper east side between Fifth and Madison so no one is expecting any bargains...and the food is excellent. Servers very professional and competent, friendly host and hostess. Always A mind boggling array of yummy sounding specials on offer. Ask for eggplant Parmesan, which isn’t always on the specials or the menu, but they usually have some in the oven anyway. It is to die for.
The restaurant is on a side street, so it can be easy to miss. I went with a friend during lunch on a Monday afternoon when it was not busy. The service was terrific, as was the food and ambiance. The restaurant is elegant and spacious, with interesting artwork by artists such as Miro, Stella, etc.
It was relaxing and quiet. Although we were there for lunch, neither my friend or I were interested in a heavy meal, so we stuck to small plates from the appetizer/salad menu. I had the ricotta stuffed zucchini, and my friend had the asparagus with fried egg. Both were delicious and satisfying. The restaurant is expensive, though being on Madison avenue, the pricing is not out of line with other UES restaurants of the same caliber.
The food was good and the restaurant is pretty, but the service is just plain bad. The waiters never came to check on us, never asked how are food was or we needed anything, and they never smiled, not even once. I am never going back there. It is really a shame, but bad service ruins everything, even good food.
Every element of this beautiful, glamorous and intimate restaurant works for me. Service is attentive and personal but not intrusive. Wine list outstanding. Presentation and quality of food is excellent. I love to eat at a restaurant where you know you would be happy with almost any menu or special selection and this is it. I love this restaurant for business, personal and romance. It’s a special spot that will always be in my favorite rotation in NYC, and not just for UES options.
Food was bland. Too many specials. Took waiter too long to read list.
Very expensive for mediocre food.
An upscale restaurant that scores on all levels. Service was perfect. Food sublime. Setting recalls a time of luxury and comfort.
Our first visit to Caravaggio and we were very pleased. Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked. I ordered the squid ink pasta with seafood. Amazing! And had gazpacho as my starter which also was perfect. Ended with the wonderful tiramisu.
I was impressed on how their menu "specials" was almost as long as their their regular menu list.
Will definitely be back!
