Consistently one of the best if not the best Italian restaurant in NYC.
This restaurant never disappoints. The staff is highly knowledgeable and attentive. The food is fabulous and the drinks are wonderful. We enjoyed a seafood appetizer, tuna tartare, bucatini and pasta with truffles. For dessert we ended with the chocolate soufflé which was worth the wait.
Always a delight to return and enjoy some of the best cuisine in NYC.
Don't miss this wonderful restaurant, it was so good Friday night for dinner, I went back for lunch Saturday!
Caravaggio is a lovely Italian restaurant off of Madison Ave. We sat outside and except for the occasional truck passing by it was quiet and pleasant.
The menu was outstanding, the specials were seasonal, fresh and well done. Overall excellent except a tad pricey.
Has we chosen to eat inside that was lovely as well.
Waiters were not wearing mask. Very unusual and too close to face when talking about their specials
Always great and accomodating
Excellent food, great service, very pretty room, great sommelier and a serene setting. But incredibly expensive, particularly the wine list and the specials (they don't actually tell you the prices until it appears on your bill). There is virtually nothing - in fact, I think there is absolutely nothing - on the wine list for less than $150 per bottle. Virtually all are north of $250. Constant upselling, too, from "would you like some shaved truffles" to the "why don't you try the special dessert".
Delish as always!!! The pastas were incredible as was the swordfish.
The service was wonderful and the food will definitely be remembered.
Caravaggio is a first class haute cuisine restaurant..first class in every way..
Unfortunately the dinner tonight was disappointing. Seafood risotto was tasteless and bland. Scallops were perfectly seared but at 48.00 the portion felt skimpy.
Service excellent, food fabulous, best gazpacho ever, soft shell crabs and pasta
Food was delicious and service was impeccable
Amazing as always! Can’t wait to go back!
Incredible experience. Amazing food and service. Gluten free pasta available too!
Excellent with a couple of reservations: main course swordfish Milanese arrived with center uncooked and had to be sent back for further treatment which took 5+ minutes. Staff good but never once refilled water glasses. Otherwise very fine lunch.
Delicious food...we will be back!
Fine dining at its best. Attentive service and delicious food.
Very poor service. They asked for my food order before they even brought the bottle of wine that I ordered
Always a nice dining experience. The pasta is always fresh and delicious!!
We had a lovely experience eating outside. The set up was great, and being on a side street, was quieter. Our server was very attentive without being intrusive. The cocktails were made very well and the food was delicious.
It made my birthday extra special. Neither my friend nor I had informed anyone at the restaurant that it was my birthday but one of the staff members must have overheard my friend's greeting me with a happy birthday wish. Dessert arrived with a candle and a happy birthday message.
Doesn't get better than that.
Wonderful food, service and ambiance. We ate inside which was just as pleasant as it was pre-pandemic.
Relaxed albeit attentive service, food couldn’t be beat and the cocktail was the best I’ve had in a very long time.
I never leave reviews and typically don’t have “favorites” but I cannot wait to dine there again.
This restaurant provided an experience that is beyond compare. The service and the food were excellent. I will go as often as I can
Caravaggio is not just a restaurant where you can grab a bite. It is an experience, where you can enjoy a real fresh Italian cuisine served by an amazing staff, professional and friendly.
If you want to live a real New York movie scene, it's the right place. Perfectly located between Fifth ave and Madison Ave and few steps from Central Park
Wonderful dinner at Caravaggio.
The food here is sophisticated and impeccable. As it faces 74th Street, the outdoor pavilion is quieter than those of restaurants on Madison. It is a very special place.
A wonderful option for Mother's day, everything was perfect, the food, the service, and the atmosphere.
The service was subpar, the menu overpriced
Not only one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, but one of the best overall dining experiences. Truly superb, imaginative food served by an excellent staff.
Wonderful Italian, just the way you want it to be.
Caravaggio was quite different than pre Covid. The food offering was average for a restaurant at Caravaggio”’s Proce lint. The staff was definitely not focused and w as inattentive.
The wine list was quite excellent.
Overall a mediocre performance at a very high price.
Met up with a good friend that I hadn’t seen since August because of Covid
This is one of the best Italian restaurants on the upper east side- maybe in all of NYC. It's only rival is Sistina, its sister restaurant only 8 blocks north. The extensive list of fabulous daily specials means you never have to look at the written menu. From beginning to end, the service is friendly and detail oriented, and the kitchen turns out a varied array of exquisite food, prepared with the utmost car. We go back quite often and everything is always of the highest quality. Thank god they made it through the pandemic.
Great service from a very knowledgeable staff.
Food was amazing , can’t wait to go back. Ate inside.
Fantastic food, but very pricey. Great outdoor tent
