Thanksgiving Dinner Special Menus & Offers
We will be open for Thanksgiving and be offering a Thanksgiving tailored menu!
Staff did a great job but with the 25% occupancy rule the place felt cold and without any sort of ambiance.. Just a few people dining on a Friday night. All in all an expensive and rather sad affair.. Staff were great and really did their best!
Was outside, under the circumstances , all was great
Always enjoy the great good and service!
Eating outside during Covid restrictions with truck idling a few feet from our plates was unappealing. And sitting in the street at an angle was uncomfortable. Most of these things are out of the restaurant’s control.
Terrific restaurant, great food and wonderful service. I recommend this restaurant for both outside dining and take-out.
I had such high hopes for this place and have wanted to check it out for years, but my experience was very disappointing. I will start by saying that the service was excellent. We didn't feel rushed and the servers were attentive. It was the food that was most disappointing. We started the meal with cocktails, which were fantastic and really got our hopes up that we were in for a treat. We ordered two appetizers- a soup and the heirloom tomato salad. I'm usually forgiving with mediocre food, but the soup wasn't just ok, it was bad. It was mostly tasteless and pasty, but the only flavors were of burnt bitter garlic and flour. The salad was almost good, but the basil was covered in holes from insects and the large tomatoes were mealy. Mozz was great and the small tomatoes were excellent.
Then the steak. This was a whole other level of disappointment. It was cut into a 2" x 2" cube and although I ordered medium rare there was a half-inch band of dry, chewy, grey inedible meat around a one-inch cube in the center of medium-well meat. Medium rare should be light pink throughout! I sent it back and the manager had the nerve to argue with me that they thought it was fine. It. Was. Grey. And I'm shocked that they would try to argue with me otherwise. Completely ruined the meal for me. Just because a small area in the center of steak might meet your criteria of medium-rare (which it wasn't) does not mean that "it was fine." I shouldn't have to carve through an inch of grey meat to get to the edible portion.
It's clear that this place might have been great at one point, but what is painfully obvious is that one of two things is happening- either they have serious issues with quality control or they simply don't care. It's probably a mixture of both.
What a horrible experience! Bad service, very Rude staff. We were kicked out of the restaurant by the manager because we were there for a couple of hours. The fact that we were a family of 4 and had spent $700 so far did not matter to them. If you want to just show off your clothes and jewelry surrounded by snobby infertile old ladies, this is the place to go! Now, if you are a happy family, wanting to have a great experience in a fancy, upscale restaurant, just pick somewhere else to go. I feel now that not only I wasted my time and money but the sense of injustice is the worse. No one called me back after I complained. Food is ok, but again, you can find so many other places where the whole experience will be MUCH BETTER!
This was the perfect anniversary lunch. The food and service were outstanding.
Excellent bread and appetizers but but the pasta with shrimp and crab was tasteless
Outstanding food but the service staff acted like they had a train to catch... pulling plates away while still chewing the last bite... delivering the check without it being basked for and then coming back 30 seconds later to take it before i had even looked at it. ..
pushing way too hard an extra cocktail/wine...
There are not many decent tables underneath a harshly lit scaffold... ours had a dripping of water falling on us.
Fabulous food but the rest was wildly disappointing.
Swordfish special was outstanding. Apps and meals were perfection.
Despite the make shift outdoor dining in a semi construction zone, my husband and I had one of the most romantic and delicious meals in memory last Saturday night at Caravaggio. The use of plants to camouflage those day glow construction cones and welcoming, savvy wait staff were so accommodating... we felt we had stumbled into peer-pandemic Florence! Thank you!
I loved their specials menu. Was seasonal, creative and very fresh. I started with fig carpaccio then had the tuna ceviche which was one of the best ceviches I’ve ever had. So well prepared and tasty. Wish they always had it on the menu. Caravaggio will always be my favorite UES restaurant.
Delicious dependable ❤️✅
The quality and presentation of the food was outstanding. Not your typical italian fare. Outdoor seating was comfortable and spacious. Service was professional and attentive.
This is a very lovely restaurant with some major art works. The Ronald Beachler mural is a standout.
It is expensive, even by NYC standards, but it is worth the cost. The food is exquisite ! We have eaten there several times and have always been overwhelmed by the quality of the cuisine. They have an extensive but expensive wine list. Best to speak to the Sommelier and give him an idea of how much you would like to spent and he will find an excellent wine to pair with your meal. Every night they have an extensive list of “specials”. The service is impeccable yet friendly.
So nice to get out and be served!!!Dinner was delicious and the setting is quite nice during this Covid craziness. It did rain .... we moved under an umbrella and the staff was incredibly professional during what was probably a very difficult time for them to be serving dinner.
What a pleasant surprise! Our reservation was honored on time and we were seated promptly. Outside dining was well conceived with good spacing. The service was excellent. The food was very good, nicely prepared and presented. All in all, it was a very pleasant evening, and we will be back.
Great as always. Best Italian restaurant on upper east side if not the whole city
Great lively luncheon with excellent service
It is so nice to be dining at fine establishments in NYC once again and to enjoy great food and professional service. We were not disappointed. Fried artichoke appetizer was beyond reproach - as well as the swordfish and yellowfin tuna entrees. Look forward to dining at Caravaggio's in the near future!
Best italian kitchen in New York. Fantastic wine list, attentive staff and wonderful service. The best NYC has to offer
Fantastic from start to finish. Classic, refined Italian fare in beautiful surroundings.
Have gone there many times. Service and food amazing! Bartender is one of a kind. Its dining, not eating.
Caravaggio does not disappoint, even when only outdoor seating is available! The set up for outside dining was well done and the staff was incredibly attentive. The pacing of our experience was perfect. I have always loved the food and service at this restaurant and last Sunday eve was no exception... another amazing meal. Caravaggio also have an incredible wine list. A phenomenal experience overall! Highly recommend.
I've eaten at Caravaggio in pre-pandemic times and enjoyed it very much. I was impressed that with only outdoor dining, the quality of the food and service is still very good. The restaurant is on a quiet side street, so there is not too much of an issue with cars and people walking by. On a nice evening, its a great experience to eat outdoors. I would continue to eat outside, even if/when indoor dining is restored There's some scafolding, which detracts a bit from the appearance, but it provides cover on a hot, sunny day or on a drizzly day.
Staff was great. Food also
I dined al fresco at Caravaggio and had a one of the best restaurant experiences of my life. The outdoor seating area was absolutely lovely, with lots of plants and space between tables. The staff members were all so welcoming, even though I'm not a regular there. The misticanza salad with roasted hazelnuts was served with a slightly sweet vinagrette dressing. Excellent. The squid ink fettucine with snapper and branzino was simply out of this world. And the chocolate caprese was the perfect way to end the meal. This may be the best Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side, if not the entire city.
Great outdoor dining experience. Food is terrific as always. Excellent service. Definitely worth every penny.
I feel like I am sitting in the center of ROME!!! The outdoor dining arrangement is nothing less than spectacular. The food never fails and the wine doesn't either. They also have a summer sangria to die for. If you are in NYC this summer, Caravaggio is the place to be.
UES Old School Italian with great food and gracious service--very enjoyable.
Caravaggio is a time capsule of once elegant NY upper east side dining that has sadly not come to the times with their meal tastes. Stuffy and sleepy, the menu was underwhelming and the taste left too much to be desired.
This is my third or fourth visit to Caravaggio over the past several months. I am pleased and impressed with its consistency - good food, good wine, good if not slightly over attentive service in a very nice environment. There are however two items that could use some improvement. The wine list is very much oriented towards the upper end and it is hard (or was hard for me) to find an attractive bottle at an equally attractive price - little under one hundred dollars and too much at more than five hundred. That lends itself to a bigger bill at the end of an otherwise pleasant evening. The second item is that the portions are too large - next time we share- but there will be a next time
Excellent service and food. A large number of specials and a willingness to customize both menu items and specials. The low noise level was nice for a change.
First time there. Thought it was exceptional.. The food the service all excellent. Beautiful restaurant highly recommend
Excellent. In every way.
Fantastic food! Beyond delicious!
Food is always Superb! Service was wonderful. Restaurant is elegant. A treat in every way!
