Caracara Mexican Grill Ratings and Reviews
Best restaurant on Long Island. I am a frequent diner at CaraCara for good reason. Everything is excellent. Tonight’s ceviche was superb. For my entree I enjoyed outstanding pollo relleno. As always, the service was impeccable. Can’t wait until my next visit to CaraCara.
Caracara has done it yet again, exceeding expectations. I took a small group of close friends out for my wife’s birthday. The staff was great on top of our tables needs. I can’t say enough about the food, it keeps getting better every time we visit. You are never rushed through your meal, you can relax and truly enjoy dining the experience. Peter and Tony, way to go, you guys do it right. See you in a few weeks.
First I would like to state I am lactose intolerant and a vegan.
Being the menu is not vegan friendly I asked my waiter which dinner I should order that can be tailored to my situation. He suggested a meal and he assured me there would be no cheese or cream in the dinner.
Well, I was sick for 2 days and found out there was cream in the salsa.
So my suggestion is if you are a vegan or have any other food allergy this is not the restaurant for you.
My kid loves it, and that's saying a lot considering he's the worlds toughest food critic. My wife and I also enjoy it thoroughly. The meals are authentic and flavorful. Hasn't ever been a disappointment in the 4+ times we've gone here - and we will go back again and again. The food is fresh and the meals are comforting but creative. Tableside guacamole, not only is a feast for the eyes (especially for our little one!) but also a journey of flavor for the palate. Portions are hefty but not tough on the wallet. Britany has been our best server so far, though, everyone is patient, kind and attentive.
What a great find!
Caracara was a delightful dining experience. The entrees were delicious and the presentation of the entrees was very tasteful. I had the Carne Tampiquena and it was delicious and the portions were very filling for a very reasonable price. They even had my favorite tequila Don Julia Anejo which is not easy to find in restaurants or bars.
tried the table side guac, asked for spicy - sadly it had no kick whatsoever. Main courses were very slow coming out, and when they did it was clear that one entree had been forgotten and the other three had sat under a heat lamp. Meat was cold while the boniato (mashed white sweet potatoes) had a browned crust on top. Maybe the kitchen was just having a bad day but overall it was a disappointment.
My wife and I for no particular reason celebrate our wedding anniversaries with Mexican cuisine. We were looking for a new place and decided CaraCara was worth a shot.
We were not disappointed. The waiter was attentive and helpful with recommendations. I liked the homemade guacamole but would have used something other than wooden spoons to mash and mix. It was tasty but some of the ingredients got left on the bottom of the bowl. Also, I would have like more salsa served in a bigger bowl. Spooning it on the nachos was not what we were used to doing.
Overall, food was delicious with generous portions. Their house cocktails would be worth the drive. I highly recommend CaraCara, you won’t be disappointed. We plan on becoming CaraCara regulars.
Service was slow despite the place being virtually empty. We ordered table side guacamole spicy and it was the blandest guacamole I've ever tasted. Entrees were mediocre at best but highly priced for the quality of the food. Won't go back.
Been here many times. Tonight disappointment. Had reservation, relatively quiet, requested to sit in one of two open booths-denied. Requested to sit in out of the way two top, denied. Sat at two top soon sandwiched between party of 4 with cute baby and party of 6. Open tables everywhere. Food not as good as previous visits. Ugh. Becoming tired of the whole restaurant experience. Eat at home. Spend money on life.
