Cara Mia Trattoria Italiana Ratings and Reviews
Lovely little restaurant! We dined early so it was not busy and we got incredible service. Outdoor patio is great and the food is wonderful rustic Italian. Generous portions for the price. The host (owner?) and waiter made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked in. Perfect spot for a date and great value.
Made the reservation looking for an inexpensive restaurant. Got there and saw the place was relatively empty. They asked if we wanted to sit on the patio. It was a beautiful area off of the street. Ended up being not only pretty, but quiet. Everyone we came in contact with spoke Italian (positive sign in an Italian restaurant). The restaurant got more crowded as the evening wore on. The food was very good, and made fresh to order.
We were happy!!!
We had a great dinner Saturday evening. The food was delicious and the service was great. They even gave us a little lemon cello for desert. The prices are great and good value for your money. Just wish the restaurant was a little busier on a Saturday night, but I guess it's summer in south florida😀
Fantastic food. Looked like a little hole-in-the-wall but was good sized inside with a courtyard along the side. Wife had bolognese with pasta and said it was probably best sauce she's had. I had a seafood dish with pasta and a red sauce: loved it. Lot of food. Really enjoyed it.
We were a party of 3, Service was very good. Now for the not so, Bland under seasoned chicken parm, overcooked pasta with a heavy tomato sauce that made a blob of mush next to the entrée served on the same plate. The slight saving grace was the pasta sauce was flavorful. My chicken picata had a sauce made with to much flour/and or cornstarch and was served with a great mixed vege combo but they ruined this also because it was cooked to death and probably the day before yesterday.
This was my fourth visit to Cara Mia and I will say probably my last. The drop off in service and quality of food has dropped off significantly over the past few years. The food lacked the preparation I was used to from previous visits, it just seemed more bland. What was really the worst was the service. We were there on a Wednesday night at 8pm and the place was empty except for maybe two or three other tables. The service was horrible and inattentive. They made us wait and wait, did not offer dessert or coffee and were generally disinterested and unknowledgeable about the menu or the wine. Sad to say it but I have crossed Cara Mia off my list and my recommendation list. Too bad, it used to be outstanding.
Went for dinner on a special day. Waiters repeatedly rude to my wife the lady at the table whom the dinner was for. Extremely limited menu offered. Food more like what one would get at a diner. Not what we expected from a restaurant with a good rating on open table. One of few times open table has disappointed us having used this both in the US and abroad.
We sat down and it took almost 15 min for the waiter to take our order. It's a good thing we called him over because it would have taken longer. Mind you the restaurant was not very busy. Our Ceasar salde came 15 min after we ordered. It was over dressed and dripping with dressing. Waited another 20 min after the salde for dinner and need to go to speak with manager to find out what was taking so long. This aragant, foreign was so insulting to tell me that I have relax because the good was worth waiting for and this wasn't fast food. The meal cam 30 min later. Not worth waiting for. I wouldn't go back nor recommend this restaurant to anyone. Spend your money else wear
Nice comfortable place amidst the craziness of South Beach for a quiet dinner after you've dropped the big bucks and worn your Pradas at the noted haunts and need to get back to real life. Great lamb shank, very traditional linguine with clams, solid tomato/mozzarella with warm service and basic decor.
