Went on a Sunday evening and they had live karaoke, which would’ve been ok had it not been for the extremely SLOW service. Went for dinner at 6pm and didn’t get our food until close to 8pm because the servers were busy carrying on with the singers and the crowd. They blamed it on the dinner rush but when I can clearly see you by the bar giving hugs to everyone, that definitely put me in a fowl mood. Overall, the food was ok, definitely not worth waiting close to 2 hours. Will most likely get my seafood fix somewhere else, either Joe’s Crabshack or Red Lobster.
Great service. Very friendly. Delicious seafood. A little pricey, but blue crabs are expensive so not unexpected. Would definitely return if in the area.
I was in the city for a business and a friend of mine decided to have dinner. I checked Open Table to determine a good local restaurant. Captain Mas had a great rating so I decided we would eat there. It was a Tuesday and there was not a lot of folks there, but the food was wonderful, the service was great, and the atmosphere was on point. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any who would want a good meal
Great service! Owner came out to say hello, brought candy for the kids. Even had a nice boat to take pictures in!
Great food and service.
Captain Mas’ is a hidden gem. The crab cakes are the best I’ve had. The gator bites are meaty and tasty. The oysters are delicious. The food in not over breaded and cooked perfectly. This is a place you will want to return to.
The seafood and pasta at Captain Ma's is excellent and at a reasonable price. The service is always top notch. This is a great find.
We love Captain Mas. The only place in the area to get all you can eat snow crab legs and they are amazing! Entrees are great as well!
Horrible service and food, bartender had to host, bartend and wait tables.
Restaurant was clearly short staffed. We waited at the door for about 5-10 minutes before we got greeted. It took about another 15 minutes to get our drink orders. Then we placed our appetizer. Took about another 15-20 minutes before we got out. The only good part was the food was worth the wait. Service not so much. It was one server plus two managers it looked like for the entire restaurant including the bar. All in all, the server did a decent job with only having one hand. Looked like he broke the other or sprained it. Food was worth the wait but not much else. First time there, and agreeably the last. You can spend $100 at McCormicks and get a better meal with better service.
The food was AMAZING! The ambiance was so-so...but we will definitely go back for the food! The crab mac and cheese was incredible, and the mussels were the largest I have ever had in a restaurant. It is wonderful to find a place that doesn't overcook crab legs and also has SO much crab in their crab cakes! My only suggestion for improvement is to upgrade the wine list / options.
This is a hidden gem. The staff is very friendly, the food is very good. It's only challenge is that it is a little hard to find. It is well worth the effort.
If you are looking for a great seafood spot in Loudoun county it's worth the drive.
We twelve decided this was the most genuinely enjoyable dining experience we had had in recent times. Tucked away in a shopping center, it is a hidden gem well worth finding. The service from beginning to end was terrific, from wait staff to attentive owner/managers; we were made welcome. Each selection is made from scratch (NO Microwave on site!) and takes a little time. Everything is fresh, including chowder, soup and entrees. Significantly more accommodating and sincerely caring than most restaurants.
Disappointing...food was poor quality. (ie) fried oysters not fresh
We had fruit flies join us at the table. When we mentioned this to the waiter we were able to switch tables. When the flies rejoined us at the new table the maitre d' just kept saying this has never happened before. The food was ok but not spectacular. Maybe a little overpriced.
Under appreciated local spot. A good value with consistently good food.
This place is GREAT!! The food is excellent, and well worth the money, the people are friendly, and the best part is you do not have to wait for a table; there is always seating available! If you want the authentic seafood experience and you have not tried this place, you are missing out!
Nice house salad and seafood in itself was good. Had the boil for 2, which the sauce was an unexpected type of Louisiana style. No spiciness and more like a bouillabaisse. Like return in a pinch. Food was ok but not remarkable.
Reviews looked good online but when we arrived, at 7 pm on a Thursday night, there were only 3 cars outside. We didn't bother going in, not when every other restaurant in the area has lots of customers. Hmmm. BTW , I could only submit this by rating the dining experience - which we didn't have so those are not accurate.
Excellent seafood for a fair price.
Authentic and delicious seafood!!! The service was great as always. The only thing that I would say is that the televisions should be within view of all customers and not just within a particular area, and the music could be better.
Best seafood in the area! Everything that we tried from the menu was simply amazing. We love seafood and know good seafood when we see it.
Really lower than I expected.
Did not like it
So did the rest of the group
Great food and Great service!!
Finally a good place for seafood in Sterling area at a reasonable price!...great and friendly service
Took my 8 year old daughter during a visitation weekend. We had the seafood boil. It was different than the boils we have had at other places but it was quite good. The place is small and was not crowded. The staff were friendly and spent time visiting. I enjoyed it and would recommend for a relaxed casual dining experience.
Nothing tasted good. Mac-n-cheese tasted rancid and fried oysters were mushy--we were afraid to eat either of them. Server never came back to refresh our drinks, and there was a horrible karaoke thing going on.
Restaurant appeared nice was very excited to go but upon arriving the air conditioner appeared to mot be working. It was about 80 degrees and extremely uncomfortable
Food was very expensive and mediocre at best. $16 for a small cereal bowl of lobster Mac and cheese, a $30 combo platter with 3 small overcooked scallops, 3 ok grilled shrimp and a rubbery piece of fish, and drinks that were often empty and VERY SLOW inattentive service, particularly given that the restaurant was barely 1/3 full. Restaurant was swelteringly hot as well. Doubtful we will return.
Food was below average not worth the price. Service slow and was not crowded. Air conditioner was broken.
This is in an out of the way location, without that it would have a line out the door. Excellent service, fresh food and great tastes. I had the shrimp and grits, my wife the crab crusted mahi. Both were excellent, very large portions, and very fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant which we only found because we stayed at a local hotel.
Great experience ! 1st timers @ Captain Mas. Brought my mom here for dinner while she was visiting from Arizona. She was throughly impressed with the food quality and service. Will definitely be returning soon!
Oysters were big and fresh, service was outstanding, all the food was excellent!
Pan fried shrimp was second to none...no heavy breading just tasty sweet big shrimp!
Moms catfish was just like she wanted it: no pepper no extra stuff on it!
We had hoped to have a quiet dinner and thought we would try Captain Was. It was quite quiet. We were some of the only diners at 7 p.m. on a Wednesday night. The nut crusted mahi mahi with crab on top was delicious as were the mashed potatoes and spinach that accompanied it. The beer list could have been better but we had no complains about the service. It turned out to be a good meal.
Really good food, still had kids choices my semi picky children liked. Great portion on the calamari appetizer. Service was great too.
This is not a good seafood place. If you dare to get crabs from here, expect to pay a LOT for them. They just don't cut it as a good seafood place. I wanted them to succeed but there are hardly ever people there. I have been twice, and will not be going back. Maybe it's gotten better...but I am not willing to find out.
Recently had dinner on a weekend evening, the restaurant was empty at 7 PM. That scared me a bit but we thought we would give it a try. Our server was a nice young lady and she did a good job, she was attentive and funny. The food was okay, not great, not horrible. I had the feeling that everything was frozen, rather than fresh and this includes the crab and the shrimp. I understand that expecting fresh seafood might be unrealistic, particularly looking at the volume of diners. All in all, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great, maybe fair to good. If the prices were lower, I might consider an extra star but I felt that everything was overpriced considering the quality. I wish them luck and hope they succeed but think that they might want to make some changes.
The building, a minimally remodeled chain, has a homey and relaxed atmosphere. But the food is similar to a more upscale and foodie restaurant. Definitely try it out!
