   We ate there for Mother's Day lunch, and although they were a little short-staffed, the service was friendly and responsive, and we all enjoyed our meals. Wonderful crabcakes (with tons of lump crab meat...hard to find nowadays), stuffed shrimp with crab and huge portions. The mashed potatoes and spinach sides were delicious! The owner gave us red roses for each mother - very classy and personal touch. We'll definitely be back again!

   Amazing food, especially the crabs and shrimp and lobster tails. The service was ok, as we had a reservation but didn’t need it as no one greeted us at the door and we seated ourselves. The food is great but driving up to the restaurant it looks closed down and dilapidated

   Great experience. We had a successful celebration with excellent food, service and a low level of hassle. The overall feel is definitely down home, with some relic boats in the yard, it feels casual and friendly. If I could afford to, I would come more often, but the prices to me were a little high. The crowd on a Friday night was light, and it's not because the food isn't great...It definitely is awesome. I would improve the french fries, though. They were decidedly average.

   Decided on Captain Mas for my husband’s birthday dinner. The service was amazing, food was very good but the place was empty on a Thursday evening. It put a damper on the experience.

   Everything about this restaurant was great all the food was nice and hot and good. I will definitely be coming back. The owner and all the staff was great. I would give this whole restaurant/visit a 10/10 and will be back soon!!

   The food was pretty terrible; the crab and artichoke dip was 95% cheese and the fish and chips were 95% breading. At least the fries were decent, though! The service was also good, if a bit slow, which was odd since there were only three other tables filled. Still managed to be too loud for us to hear ourselves talk, though...

   The food was great and I’d like to go back on a day that isn’t a holiday. My husband and I made reservations here for Valentine’s Day weeks beforehand, and no one at the restaurant seemed prepared for an extra busy dinner rush. Our reservation was for 8:00, we weren’t seated until after 8:20, and then no one came to take our drink order for another 20 minutes. We came very close to walking out, but I’m glad we didn’t because the food was very good. The crab cakes were fantastic! I understand that everyone is understaffed right now, but it was very frustrating to be kept waiting for so long without anyone so much as looking our way. Our server had no clue that we’d been seated at first and was appalled that no one had even brought waters to the table.

   We had an amazing experience. We love New England style seafood, and I felt a strong connection to this place right away. Great portions of everything we ordered, and each item did not disappoint. Stuffed lobster tails, the chowder, crab spinach dip, deserts and drinks were all outstanding. The menu goes real deep with all sorts of great stuff so we will surely be back. I saw a lot of folks hugging as they came in so there are def a bunch of regulars. Last but not least….incredible service from the one and only “LEO”! ….. and the crowd chanted! This place will now be in our regular rotation. You will not be disappointed.

    Our server was awesome, food was like a home cooked meal and there was tons of it for sure. The building felt dirty and old though and needed some assistance. If it weren’t for that they would have gotten a 4 for sure

    This place is way underrated. The food is amazing, the service and stuff are the most customer friendly than any other place we've been to in the NOVA area. Definitely highly recommend it!

    It seemed the place was not busy at all when we arrived. There were maybe half a dozen tables seated at that time. And yet we waited to be acknowledged at the hosted area for about 10 minutes before someone finally came to greet and seat. We asked to sit outside as it was a bit noisy indoors with all the people at the bar. Only one table outside had an umbrella and one row of tables was enclosed in a party tent with a reserved sign placed on the table. It began to rain shortly after our food arrived so we migrated into the covered tent. Our server said this was ok as it was only ‘reserved’ for the owners family but since they were apparently understaffed, that visit probably was not going to happen. Our server was great and really deserves all the stars I’ve given in this review. The food is just OK. Lots of seasoning in the seafood combination dish. Bordering on too much. Value seemed OK as well though they skimp on the crab. There was only one claw cluster in the seafood combination dish we ordered. Overall not a terrible experience for us on this particular visit. I’d be willing to return if I knew they were fully staffed and provided cover for all of the outdoor seating instead of just the one table and the party tent.

    The staff was amazing. The owners came out and talked to us. He checked to ensure our food was good and congratulated us on the occasion that we were celebrating. The food was good. We ordered appetizers, drinks and entrees. Fresh and seasoned! We will be back!

    Loved coming here with my friends on a double date. It surely gets messy when you get a boil but it was good! The owner and his wife are hilarious and will always strike up a conversation. The only thing was that service was friendly but it did take almost half an hour for a salad to come out.

    Stay away!! Service is beyond horrible. A reservation means nothing to them. We were told the kitchen was backed up so we would have to wait at least 45 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. There were 3 other tables seated at the time. If they can't handle 4 tables, what's the point of being open.

    We were seated snd it took quite a while to get drinks. Then our drinks sat on empty for over 10 mins only to be told they ran out of the sweet tea and the lemonade we had previously been drinking. Luckily they didn’t charge us for them. We ordered the boil for two and it was terrible. Potatoes were undercooked. The lobster I paid extra for was over cooked as well as the shrimp. About the only thing cooked right we’re the crabs, corn, and the sausage. It was over 50 mins to get there from DC. I wouldn’t be back unless I happened to be in the area. They are worth a second shot on maybe a better night but not to go out of my way for it.

    Large group dinner after a wedding weekend. Awesome menu and service and meals were terrific. Everything came out hot and delicious. Recommend the fried snapper...presentation is something to experience! Great end to a great weekend. Glad to support a locally owned restaurant.

    The food was excellent and the service generally great. We were seated quickly and providing a rose to the ladies was a nice touch. We had a little issue getting a second glass of wine, as they evidently ran out of wine glasses. Sadly the ambiance really detracted from the otherwise great time. It just looked a little run down, and not like what you would expect from an up to date restaurant. It did not appear that any of the furniture was ripped or too worn, just not what I would expect. So if you can get past that, then I recommend it highly. I would suggest they invest in a little capital renewal. They could probably recapture some of the expenses in higher prices, as the food was that good.

    In town from ny and our whole rockfish was delicious. Fried oysters were delicious. Our server Leo was so pleasant and attentive that we thought he was the owner. The owner also stopped by to ensure that we were doing well. Wld drive from ny to visit again.

    Food was really good. The venue was primarily a bar atmosphere, and it happened to be a “borrowed” venue for a Russian trivia game in Russian. Looked like the Russian speaking customers had fun.

    I got a half dozen jumbo steamed blue crabs. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. There was not a light crab in the lot. We also ordered crab cakes and hush puppies. The crab cakes were wonderful as were the hush puppies. You can not go wrong with this restaurant. I know we will be going back very soon. Thank you Captain Mas!

    We made a reservation for 930 because the restaurant says it closes at 11. We got there 5 minutes early and the place was empty. We were told that the kitchen was closed, very rudely. I strongly recommend staying away from this place

    Went to Captain Mas Seafood on 3 August 2019 and the food was not great. My friends and I ordered the Seafood Boil for One- Cajun style. It didnt taste like cajun at all. The sauce tasted like they use a tomato sauce with water. So, it was tomato sauce watered down with no flavor on the seafood. Also, the shrimp and crab legs were overcooked, the potatoes no seasoning, the list goes on. Our overall experience with Captain Mas was not good. We will not go back to Captain Mas.
