Caprino's Italian - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Treated me poorly because I had reserved on OpenTable. Hostess was surly and gave us the worst table in a mostly empty restaurant. Asked to move to one if many vacant ones and was told this are for people who called to make reservations. We left before ordering anything.
Italians from Pittsburgh would be offended with the poor quality of food served. Waitress was nice. Pasta Alfredo with broccoli and chicken was overcooked, no flavor and ate very little. My wife had ravioli which was so salty she could not eat it. The bread served before dinner was so hard and dry one would think it was from the day before but doubt this as we were eating at 9pm. Only salvation was the small dish of marinara sauce that came with bread which was tasty and softened the bread enough so one could eat it. Much better places close by to eat real Italian.
OK, so first, I recommend reading several of the other reviews to get a rounded perspective. Our experience, only, was that the chef was probably somewhere else the night we were there. The food was ok but lacked the level of attention needed to make it memorable. I would recommend giving this location a try. Your experience might well be memorable.
While it's true that you should never try a new restaurant on a holiday, this place was deep in the weeds on Christmas Eve. The service was painfully slow, from drinks on, and our appetizer was brought out at the same time as our meal, with no apology or explanation. Furthermore, the ravioli I ordered came out cold, which made me wonder why on earth it took so long to deliver to the table. I might've asked them to warm it up, but the server never once checked on us. Finally, the tabs were incorrect for both parties. Overpriced and mediocre at best.
The waitress was very friendly, she explained the history of the owners that were from Italy. She said that some of the food and water is imported from Italy and it made fresh to order. We started with the beef carpaccio which was just a small dinner plate size but delicious. The salad dressing was different than any other dressings and was very good. The food took a very long time to get. We all got the parmesan meals, chicken, eggplant or veal. The breading was light and did not overwhelm the meat and the sauce was good and fresh. There was just too much spaghetti that filled the bowl though. I really would have preferred a choice of a couple sides and maybe a vegetable. We threw away a lot of spaghetti. The table cloths must have been from the restaurant that was there previously because they had an S initialed on them. They really should just eliminate those. They had beautiful booths that looked very comfy and never were filled on a week night but they sat everyone at the tables with chairs. It is like they didn't want to dirty them. I wouldn't mind at least trying the pizza since that may be what they specialize in. All in all it was good, I'm not running back but I may go back to get the pizza.
We usually have a better experience here, I think they were very busy and didn't expect it. Out of the crab cakes and wedding soup when I tried to order both. Chicken parm was very bland. Overall, a great local place with a tricky night. We will go back and give it another try.
Service here was so slow we won't return. Nearly 2 hours for 2 to eat and the place was empty. Food was hyped up and fell short. All we heard about was how great another location they have that is out of business. Common flavors, very basic and not in a good way. Lasagna was okay, the meat sauce was good.
I rated food low as the app doesn't allow you to finish without rating it. Our experience with the hostess was awful. We had an 8pm reservation but when we arrived in the parking lot it was very crowded. As my wife is handicapped we didn't want to go thru the hassle of parking etc then finding out we had a wait. So we called from the parking lot and they said no problem if you have a reservation. We went in and the hostess took our name and disappeared for quite some time. Someone else came by and said it would be a wait. While we understand a restaurant being busy and at times waiting for your reservation time what we don't understand is calling from the parking, being told no wait then walking in and having to wait. Just bold face lies. Not the first time we faced the situation at Caprinos. We walked out last night without being seated.
This was our first time - and it was delicious. They can get very busy and the noise level can go up.
Favorites thus far: lasagna style eggplant parm, beef carpaccio and Creme brûlée. Excellent decaf coffee. Try the perfectly cooked calamari with the Marinara sauce.
We were very impressed with the Dean Martin impersonator. He did a great job and was very entertaining.
We went here because their sister Restaurant, Stefanos, is closed for renovation. We go to Stefano's and the food is excellent. Caprino's did not disappoint us even with the high expectations from Stefanos. The risotto was excellent. Steaks prepared perfectly and great quality. The cajun pasta dish was rather spicy, but they can tone it down for you if you want it. The wait staff was very attentive.
This is a real hidden gem in the WDW neighborhood. Located in a shopping area it might fool you from outside appearances, but everything about this place from food to service is nothing but first class! But the prices are more than reasonable. In fact if you've been dining anywhere on Disney property your wallet will breathe a sigh of relief. Our party of 4 ordered 4 different Italian dishes and each was a big hit! Next time you are visiting Disney make a point of finding this great restaurant.
We took advantage of the Magical Dining menu, Caprinos had to offer and just like last year, we had an incredible time. It is our 9th year married and we decided to go there. We were not disappointed, our server (George) gave us a magical dinning experience, the manager (Greg) came to our table and expressed his gratitude for coming back to eat with them. That means a lot to us and it felt very warming and loving to know that, the simplest things mean a ton! I want to thank George for such a humble experience, the chef crew for such a delicious dinner, and the environment that was so pleasing. Our anniversary was just as special as the last 8 and my wife left with flowers courtesy from the staff in Caprino's. Thank you and you have a always customer with us. We always send our friends to you guys because we believe you guys always go all out for your patrons.
I've taken my folks a couple of times when I visit. Good size portions, attentive owner, wonderful pizza. My friend had pasta with Italian sausage and it was delicious. I had the chicken parm and thought it was ok. I'd probably try something else the next time only because it didn't have the zest that my friend's dish did.
My husband's meal, veal with prosciutto was tasty. My meal eggplant parmigiana was inedible. It was about 4 inches of thickly breaded eggplant with very little cheese or sauce. I couldn't eat it and told the server it wasn't good but the restaurant did nothing about it. We won't be returning to Captino's Italian restaurant .
6 of us dined on Saturday night. 4 adults 1 infant and 1 child. We had the Veal Braciole, Veal Milanese, a Meatball Pizza and the 18 oz.Delmonico. All items were prepared as ordered and delicious. Our server Margaret was extremely professional and attentive.
Was looking forward to all their gluten-free options. The GF chicken Parmesan was decently tasty while the sauce had absolutely no flavor. The appetizer that we had was really good so when we received our entrées we were surprised they had no flavor. This restaurant was a total letdown seemed much of the stuff really didn't know what they were doing either.
Made reservation a week in advance for a birthday. When arrived we were told kitchen was backed up and had to wait to be seated. At that point we should have turned around and left. dinner still not served 90 minutes later. Promised by manager it would arrive in 5 minutes. Ten minutes later we walked out with no food.
