Thierry and Patricia Moity were previous owners of Patou Bistro in Charlotte, NC and Cafe de Bruxelles in New York City.
Delight in Chef Thierry Moity's traditional French cuisine. Chef Moity, who has been cooking since age 13 in some of the finest French restaurants in Europe and New York City. The French cuisine is influenced by a combination of traditions-Patricia comes from the northern part of France near the Belgium border, while Thierry's origins are deeply rooted in the central provinces of the country.
According to Chef Moity, the food is served fast paced and in generous portions." I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant". We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating and expensive.

Authentic French cuisine in an unpretentious setting. Well-crafted cocktails, the French staples done exceptionally well, a thorough but unintimidating wine list and impeccable, fun service.
Food was good, reasonably priced. Not over the top. Visited with a French expatriate, so hostessing was 5 stars. Waitress missed certain additional requests. The proximity to very loud customers next to us distracted BOTH of us from our own conversation, and we laughed and shared everything we heard from them afterward when we left. However, we both agreed that it severely distracted us from enjoying our own conversation AND meals. Upon ordering, we had told the wait staff that we were intending to split/share both orders. It would have been wonderful if extra plates, bowls and spoons had been provided. No, this was not a restaurant necessarily used to splits.
However, our real appreciation of the food may have ended up with a better review due to access to the sauces around the servings if they had been easily transferable.
Caprice Bistro is a Wilmington gem. Tonight for Father's day I had the rabbit and the crepes. My wife had escargot and chicken. Patz & Hall Sonoma Chardonnay and great service from Katy. Make sure you get to go once a month for excellent food. Don't delay you will love it.
Caprice never fails. Our reservation was at 8:00, 3 people celebrating Father's Day. It's my husband's favorite restaurant and since it's a little pricy (but worth every penny) we only go for special occasions. The food was delicious, service excellent, and an overall wonderful celebration!
Caprice Bistro is consistently excellent!
The seafood specials and ribeye never disappoint! Service exceptional as always! The dessert menu is one of a kind!
The best food and overall experience we had in our Wilmington vacation. We would definitely eat here again.
Fabulous French food, very friendly server and busy but interesting ambiance. Would choose a quieter time next time. Best food in a long time! Loved the fresh herbs with starter and entrée.
Our experience was very good. Our only disappointment was the chef did not work with our dietary restrictions to substitute another side items with our dish.
Great staff, lovely meal!
Dinner special Stripped Sea Bass was wonderful. Creme Brule was the perfect ending.
My husband and I have eaten at Caprise Bistro many times before but this was the first time we had dinner upstairs. We love it upstairs, so from now on we would like to eat upstairs. Why we keep coming back is the food is always so good. It doesn't seem to matte what you have its always. All of the employees are always friendly and helpful. We highly recommed Caprise Bistro.
My wife and I went here on our anniversary. We highly recommended! Nice ambience, very friendly staff, and great French food. I recommend making reservations to the place as it gets quite full.
The Waterzooi is the house specialty. No argument there. We will definitely be back. Tres bon! Merci!
Great, authentic French food. Katrina our server was excellent.
Outstanding environment, food, and service. Very welcoming and gracious staff. Excellent experience.
Love this restaurant...one of our favorites in Wilmington!
All aspects of this place were perfect!
Sunday before Memorial Day so it was very busy. We had a reservation and waited 15 mins before the hostess came and took us to our table. Twice during that time servers abruptly said ‘we’re very busy she’ll be there soon’
Food was good, not fabulous but ok. Wine selection wasn’t great. Don’t know that we’d go back though. Katrina our sever was definitely tired but was nice.
Very good food. Nice atmosphere and great service.
Always a delightful place to have a wonderful dinner with great service.
Our server was excellent and so was our meal. 5 stars all around.
Excellent experience. Great food. Good service.
Excellent food and service. Everything perfect
Very good food, tag team service. Our main waitress was doing too much. Don't get the macaroons, dry and too sweet. Waterzooi and lamb shank were very good. Would definitely return.
The food was excellent, all courses, and my husband enjoyed the wine he ordered. I thought the restaurant interior was very charming. Our server, however, was clueless. She clearly was not knowledgeable about the menu, and didn't even tell us about the specials. Fortunately I heard another server describe them. I would definitely go back again.
Wonderful evening of fine dining without feeling formal. Highly recommend the rabbit sausage and the duck confit. Escargots were amazing. For the price, the charcuterie board could have at least included French cheese instead of manchego. The duck pate was delicious. Nice selection of wines at different price points. Service outstanding and really makes the difference with your meal. Highly recommend
Choose high top seating for a more relaxed/chill evening. Standard seating downstairs was more formal.
If you like a terrific dining experience we highly recommend Caprice Bistro!
Based on previous reviews I think I expected more. It was “ok”. We enjoyed the meal. However, it’s not food I would rave over. Had the steak dish of the night. The sauce was scrumptious. Their wasn’t enough to help the just ok steak.
Great food and great service in a nice location in downtown Wilmington
The food was great. Everything we ordered came out sooner than we expected.
Charming atmosphere in a walkable area near the waterfront, with interesting shops and street entertainers in nice weather.
The leek-Parmesan appetizer with crispy crepes was exceptional and the pistachio-encrusted salmon was a satisfying portion, delicious and perfectly cooked. Server was attentive and friendly, offering good suggestions on wine pairings.
Very pleasant evening. Ask for an upstairs table. It is great for conversation over dinner
Would go back
Our favorite restaurant in Wilmington, NC. The first one we went to 15 years ago and still some of the best food around.
Lovely little place! Fabulous food!!
all excellently prepared dishes. we always dine here when in town
Food and service ourstanding
Outstanding food and service. This is one of our favorite local restaurants. We've never been disappointed.
The food and wine were spectacular! The service was wonderful, and the ambience was great! Definitely one of our go-to places.
This is my favorite restaurant in Wilmington, and my wife's second favorite. I had the Waterzooi, as usual, and it was outstanding, as usual. The seafood was as fresh as I have ever had. A diner sitting next to us (thank God the Covid restrictions have gone away), asked me about it. I recommended it, and he enjoyed it so much that it led to an hour's conversation between us couples. A reminder of what it used to be like not that long ago. I think this restaurant also lends itself to that kind of interaction, if you want it. If not, you can dine in peace.
The wait staff was a little slow, but that may have been due to the fact that they hadn't fully staffed up with the removal of the restrictions just days earlier.
I also have only great things to say about the maitre'd, who is as pleasant and gracious a woman as you will find anywhere. She seemed especially pleased that they were now filling up the place again after a long drought.
Parking in downtown Wilmington is a pain, to be sure, but the couple next to us pointed out the nearby ramp garage. We don't go downtown much, so we didn't know about it, but it will make our next visit to this wonderful place a lot more relaxed.
