About Caprice Bistro
Thierry and Patricia Moity were previous owners of Patou Bistro in Charlotte, NC and Cafe de Bruxelles in New York City.
Delight in Chef Thierry Moity's traditional French cuisine. Chef Moity, who has been cooking since age 13 in some of the finest French restaurants in Europe and New York City. The French cuisine is influenced by a combination of traditions-Patricia comes from the northern part of France near the Belgium border, while Thierry's origins are deeply rooted in the central provinces of the country.
According to Chef Moity, the food is served fast paced and in generous portions." I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant". We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating and expensive.

Caprice Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Exceptional food in a charming atmosphere. One of the best restaurants, consistently, that we ever had the pleasure to enjoy. All the offerings represent the best of French cuisine but lean toward comfort food in terms of character. There are many good restaurants in the area, but it will be hard too not choose Caprice Bistro the next time we dine out.
Great river from our romantic corner table upstairs. Great bar upstairs. Our server Jack was top-notch as was the entire staff that assisted. I had an unreal mushroom soup and delicious crepes. My wife's entree was delightful as well. Everything was perfect!
My wife loves variety. She ordered five appetizers. The maitre d was kind enough to pull the neighboring table over to accommodate them all at once for her preferred buffet style meal. Pork cheeks, salmon patte, rabbit sausage, onion soup, and escargot were perfectly prepared. I ordered the fish special which was swordfish; flavorful and tender. The bartender prepared our martinis as asked and the bottle of wine was kept chilled at the bar. Our waiter kept our glasses full of both water and wine. Chocolate mousse dessert; three, two serving scoops of white, milk and dark served with mint leaves and powdered sugar was the perfect ending. A splendid, romantic evening at a second floor window table.
We had a really nice experience . We were coming in from out of town to attend a concert , were running late . I called to let them know, and was assured there would be no problem . Told our waiter when we arrived that we were on a tight deadline to make the concert. We were amazed at how quickly and efficiently he served us. Made it so much more pleasant to eat a finely prepared and delicious meal without feeling like we had to gag it down in minutes. A truly exceptional performance by the obviously well trained and performance driven staff of a venue with nice ambiance ( I recommend the second floor) and great food.
I took a date to Caprice Bristo for dinner. It was the first time either one of us had been there. The waitstaff service and food were excellent! I had the Duck and my date had the Swordfish. We also had an appetizer which included pate'. We were both impressed and agreed it is worth visiting again.
We have been to Caprice Bistro many times since we moved to Wilmington in 2012. Always have great service, they have a wonderful wine menu and the food is delicious. Never had a disappointing meal. Ambiance is really nice and super comfy chairs and couches especially up upstairs. Prices are moderate and they have different specials every night like rabbit on Wednesdays, half price bottles of wine on Sundays and so much more. Always rated at the top on Trip Advisor and its no surprise at all. Bon Appetite......
Not only did we have the best seats in the house (table for two at the window in front) but found a new restaurant we fell in love with! There wasn't one item on the extensive menu we didn't want to try. And will. Each mouth full left an expression on our faces that almost described the unbelievable tastes exuding from the elegantly prepared cuisine. Portions are generous , staff attentive and keen on professional service and , by all means, leave room for dessert.
Make a reservation....you'll be glad you did!
What a wonderful meal. Tomato Tartin and sausage special we’re delicious. The entree selections made it hard to select. We had the trout and lamb shank which were perfectly prepared. Service was very professional and subtle - thank you Katie! Highly recommend.
Thierry is the chef and Patricia is your host at this gem of a restaurant in downtown Wilmington NC. Excellent food and beverage choices at fair prices. You can expect a great meal in a cozy atmosphere. Go and enjoy the quality. Don't forget to try different dishes including the daily specials.
Our waiter, Jay, always provides excellent recommendations and pairings. Chef Theiry never disappoints. Having lived in Wilmington for over 15 years, Caprice remains our favorite. Every dish is wonderful. Our favorites are the Mussels Mariniere, Salmon, Duck Confit, and Beef Bourguignon. Specials are always a treat. Caprice is the standard by which we judge all restaurants, and few live up to this standard. Enjoy.
My girlfriend and I went there for my birthday. I have been several times before and have never had a meal that I did not thoroughly enjoy....this visit was no exception, outstanding food!!! My gho to in Wilmington when I know I don't want to waste time and money on other restaurants...
We were visiting the Wilmington area just for second time. This had good reviews online and we enjoy French food so thought we would try. When we called for reservations they were very friendly and accommodated our time preference. When we arrived, equally friendly and offered two different tables (as opposed to those who put you in back and wait for you to ask to be changed!). I am basing my just "good" rating for food on the main course, which we both had duck confit. The appetizers we had, veal sweetbreads and the calamari (which were very tin rings) were excellent. But, the main course was lacking. The menu said orange sauce, but it did not have any sauce on it. Must have just cooked with it, leaving the duck rather dry. It was also just served with a scoop of mixed cold salad, which also lacked culinary presence on the dish. Perhaps if we had a difference main course, we would have given it a higher rating.
