Delight in Chef Thierry Moity's traditional French cuisine. Chef Moity, who has been cooking since age 13 in some of the finest French restaurants in Europe and New York City. The French cuisine is influenced by a combination of traditions-Patricia comes from the northern part of France near the Belgium border, while Thierry's origins are deeply rooted in the central provinces of the country.
According to Chef Moity, the food is served fast paced and in generous portions." I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant". We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating and expensive.
Perfect place for a date night or celebration dinner. Always spot on
Caprice is a constant in the Wilmington food scene. There are favorite bistro staples always on the menu and new surprises on each visit. The food is meticulously prepared.
We just spent our anniversary weekend in Wilmington with some fabulous restaurants selected. Caprice Bistro was a HUGE hit for us. My husband had a new fish (for him), Sheephead, and it was terrific. It was prepared in a delightful manner. I had a French beef entree that was delectable. My arugula salad was fresh and crisp. For dessert, chocolate mousse arrived with 3 flavors, from light to dark, were on the plate. I highly recommend!
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner here. We were visiting Wilmington to celebrate our wedding anniversary and dinner at Caprice Bistro was delightful.
Excellent food and service.
While we did not receive the table we requested, the staff seated us at another table that was very nicely located. My wife and I shared the muscle appetizer and we both had the Waterzooi for the main course and loved every bit of it! Still my favorite restaurant!
Superb! We have been twice now and they have yet to disappoint. Extremely accommodating, very knowledgeable and professional staff, food is incredible. They go above and beyond to present a wonderful dining experience.
My favorite French restaurant and nowhere can you get mussels as delicious and plentiful as here
Bravo to the staff and the chef. My martini was perfect to boot!
This was our second visit to Caprice, and we were as happy this time as the last. Very good food and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Delightful, charming place.
Everything was awesome loved loved it only one thing it was our 45 year anniversary I asked for good table we were sat next to a party of four it was really loud I think when I told them it was our anniversary we could have gotten a better table maybe by another table of two didn’t seem a big deal to the one who sat us BUT I WANT YOU TO KNOW THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE and the place is amazing 😉
Excellent food and service. Love the ambience. Favorite place to go!
Made reservations ahead. Table was ready. Enjoyed our appetizers of escargot and pate. My main dish was Waterzooie, a delicious creamed seafood dish. My husband ordered the trigger fish with shrimp and it was wonderful. Waiter were fantastic and very attentive. Great place always a pleasure to eat there.
This was for a special Anniversary Dinner. As a French speaking couple, I was disappointed no one spoke French. Importantly, the food was mediocre. Enjoyed the escargot but by the time the toast arrived, it was cold. A great DISSAPOINTMENT! Would not return.
Good place for a special occasion. Very good food and the desserts are delicious!
Excellent service, delicious food, perfect ambiance! Love it!
Great food and wonderful service!
Cocktails were top notch as well..
Half price bottle wine menu on Sundays.. Great selection!
It’s a must when in Wilmington!
It was our anniversary and we requested a table upstairs. When we arrived they told us they had no tables. The tables downstairs are very close together and it was very loud, so not the ambiance we were expecting. The food was very good. Amazing mussels and the profiteroles for dessert were the best we’ve had.
Was an off night for Caprice. The meli melo salad was not like it usually is and did not have dressing on it. The mussels were good but there was barely any broth and not as many mussels in the large order, as there usually is.
Our server was super nice and gave us great recommendations. Everything from our wine selection to the leek and caramelized onion tart to the mussels to the fresh tilefish was phenomenal. We will definitely be back!
This restaurant is a gem. Food and service are both fantastic. This is not your ubiquitous "shrimp basket" restaurant of Wilmington. I willingly drive from Southport for the experience.
Delicious. Our server was attentive except we ran out of bread before our appetizer came and didn't get any more until our entrees. Loved the atmosphere. A great place for a our family celebration of a new job and a birthday.
Caprice has long been one of my favorite stops in Wilmington NC. They have an understanding of what a French Bistro is and their menu and wine list reflect it. The appetizers are wonderful, the entrees are varied and flavorful and the wine list is small but loaded with gems. Best bread in town as well. The staff is knowledgeable and can point you to longtime favorites or new items that are attracting attention. A wonderful place to have dinner with friends. You can actually have a conversation without shouting as well. A lovely experience!
Food and service were great. Just be prepared to drop a C note for 2
Service was excellent food top notch
The only problem was that the seating at the wall was to close, unable to have a private conversation.
Trouble getting in and out at the table
We went on a Saturday evening as a group of 4. We each ordered a different dish and every one was excellent. Good food, good wine, excellent service and a cheerful atmosphere, with a shared piece of chocolate cake for dessert made for a great evening.
Excellent food and service. Some of the dishes are large I'm portion size so choose wisely or you'll fill up quickly. The only drawback in my opinion is that the tables are so close together you're practically sitting up against other patrons and because of such, the noise level is high and conversations carry across tables. Still, the food is worth the minor inconvenience of the close tables.
Great place for dinner...
Very special evening. It was Friday and very crowded and noisy. I guess that was OK since it created a fun atmosphere. Tables were very close together which I guess was OK since we chatted about the food with our neighbors and described a French 75. Service was great and well paced and food was great. We both had fish and was well cooked and well presented. Just wish we could have had a quiet spot in the corner. Oh well
yes in fact I already have.....wonderful fr bistro food and the floating islands for dessert were superb/
haven't had that dessert since 2000 in NYC
We always enjoy our visits to Caprise Bistro. Excellent all around.
Awesome as always! Best restaurant in Wilmington NC - bar none! A+++++++++
We have dine at Caprice on our Anniversary the last 3 years we always love the food and the experience
One of my "go-to"restaurants in Wilmington. It is consistently good , and the price point for the cuisine and wine is very reasonable. Never had a disappointing meal here. By the way, the upper and lower levels of the restaurant offer two very different atmospheres. The main level is very bistro, complete with white table cloths, flower arrangements and tin ceiling. Very nice. The upper level features a small bar at the top of the stairs and casual seating inside the dining area. A few tables are arranged in the front near the windows for a cozy/intimate dining experience. Try both (cuisine is the same on either level). If you are a mussels fan, they serve the best PEI mussels ever offered in 2 sizes ( the small is huge - the large is fit for sharing) and 3 preparations - all excellent. Their other dishes range from fresh fish preparations to lamb shank. Save room for desserts!
The restaurant atmosphere was cozy and warm. Servers were helpful and attentive. Food was very good with enough variety for any palette.
Tables were close, but noise was never an issue. In fact, we exchanged food reviews and recommendations among the tables. It was pleasant and reminded me of many Parisian restaurant experiences.
Everything was excellent.
We have dined in NYC's French restaurants as well as many in Paris. This measures up to them all. The menu is very very French and the ambiance can lead one to believe they are in France. Food is top of the line. We keep coming back for more. When you go, try the Pig's Checks.
Everything was of the usual high standard. The mussels were exceptional. The server named Katie was very good. The Cappuccino could have been hotter.
Always been a customer for years. A pleasure to take friends and family
It was perfect
It is a fantastic restaurant. It is a great place to do have a nice romantic dinner.
